The Next Generation Of Video Game Journalism w/ Paul Lombardo | Defining Duke Ultimate Episode 13

Lately, Last Stand Media has had focused conversations on the state of video game journalism. As a content creator, I’ve often found that people want to pit us against one another in a engaged battle of ethics. That’s where Paul Lombardo steps in. He is currently attending the University Of Florida to get a degree for journalism and move his way up the ranks. Currently, he writes at SUPERJUMP and occasionally participated in listicles at The Gamer in an effort to build his portfolio. So, as someone who isn’t an established industry figure, but rather an up and coming one, how does Paul view things? The cancellation of high profile games, mentioning sources, the butting heads of content creators and journalists. We get into all of it in a perspective that I don’t believe many consider. Plus, how can content creators such as myself be held more accountable? With that, let’s discuss with Paul. Follow Paul on Twitter: https://twitter.com/KopiKitten

Great interview, found it insightful hearing about the gaming site he writes for and some of the odd stuff about it

Also, kallie plagie got shit for her cyberpunk review bc she admitted on a podcast that she skipped a lot of the games content and didn't even do stuff like use the crafting system, and that's just a bad review

You know, I think you are of course right that this is justification for critiquing her critique. However, to Matty and Paul's point, folks went too far with this. Kallie received numerous, non-productive personal attacks for her review. Just as we should expect reviewers to perform their due diligence in reviewing the game, the audience has similar responsibilities to be respectful and decent human beings. While you and I may not be responsible for such personal attacks, the toxicity surrounding them certainly justify this story being part of the conversation at hand.

Is there too much games journalist content? How much should I be spending playing games in relation to absorbing the content provided? (Could it be said nicely) - y'all talk talk/write too much. Are we all playing the games and really focused on our thumb activity?
