Games are often understood as a form of art, but it appears that many suits are still playing catch-up in that regard! After five years, WB Games has successfully managed to lock down the defining mechanic for their Middle Earth series of games. This isn’t the first we’ve seen of game mechanics being patented, but is a move that only serves to stagnate the industry further as options to innovate become limited. Furthermore, Xbox has teased a new place and way to play for the Halo Master Chief Collection. Could this be the long awaited Switch port or is it something far more simple? We dissect! While next gen consoles are hard to come by, they do sell out upon availability and this month saw the win go to Xbox as they lead the month of January 2021 in console sales. Is this a product of supply constraints loosening or Xbox strategically seizing a region of the world? Also, more on Stubbs The Zombie, E3’s anticipated return, upcoming Microsoft events, and more!

Super random but I listened to DD for the first time and I dug it ! I'm an Xbot who has legit never had a playstation since PS2, and just enjoy Colin (and later, Chris) talk shop for years and years and years. I just listen to Ryan M's IGN show for xbox stuff (because he's great too). But I enjoy this show and excited to learn ya'll's personalities over many episodes!

Hopefully the Bethesda deal goes through without any hiccups.

As someone who actually hunts for my meat Hunter Call of the Wild is a great game. It is not like your big buck games and it is a great way to wonder through the woods safely haha. I play it often after a long stressful day at work to mellow out before dinner.

Since picking up my Xbox One X after my PS4 died I was instantly drawn in to the library of Game Pass Ultimate. My only problem now is I have so many games downloaded and not enough time to try them all. Defining Duke has been a great resource in narrowing down some of my choices as well as opening the door to my new love for Xbox. ( I still love PlayStation as well) thanks for another awesome show to listen to at work!

Such a wonderful discussion at the end about knowledge. My girlfriend has a master's degree in education and I have seen her rip apart family members at holiday dinners because they think they know what is best for every single kid in education. I loved that bit, thank you for sharing.

I very much appreciated and enjoyed the discussion about college. I have a masters in education and my job involves developing technical training for adults. I like to tell people that if you want to go into a STEM or business-related field, college is a no-brainer. But the conventional wisdom suggesting that most employers don’t care what your degree is — so long as you have one — is becoming irrelevant. Why? Because seemingly EVERYONE is going to college with that in mind, so the talent pool is becoming increasingly generic and competition is high for folks who stand out. I still think there’s some value in going to college for a more general, liberal arts education; but such students should try to get as much value as they can out of their education and focus on gaining some marketable skills. Oddly enough, the student job that I had at college was far more valuable in helping me find future employment than my degrees were.

I haven’t owned an Xbox in years but I adore this podcast. Karak is Last Stand Media’s MVP (Sorry Colin) had me in stitches 😂 Thanks for the entertainment 👍

Can we have the little babies shut the FUCK up about the profanity and swear jar bullshit? Are these the same people trying to run around get everyone cancelled? Anyways, I love the natural "friends talking" atmosphere. Too much stuff is overproduced these days, and it's one of the reasons Scared Symbols pulled me in. It's actually really obvious when you guys try to artificially filter yourselves to appease a very vocal minority here. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Picturing Karak working on viruses almost sounds like a B tier movie plot. 😄 Not using fast travel is wild to me.
