Sony is thriving. The Japanese mega-company released its quarterly financial results showing a healthy, growing, and forward-thinking organization that's doing a lot right. Especially when it comes to PlayStation. Yet, buried in their financials and accompanying phone calls and interviews is some bad news: PS5 is being sold at a loss, for starters, and worse yet, it doesn't appear Sony is confident that they'll be able to fix the console's supply constraints any time soon. In other words, they're in a frustrating period of what economists call Absolute Scarcity, and it spells bad news for those still on the hunt. We discuss. I get scarcity during a launch. But it’s pretty unbelievable. Yesterday I had the Walmart page up before their scheduled stock release. F5,F5,F5..... then immediate out of stock. Couldn’t even get it in my cart. Insane it’s till like this 3 months after launch. Harder to get than concert tickets.

I got the PS5 by winning a draw created by the biggest electronic chain in my country. There were a hundred consoles avaible for the whole country and I got lucky and won the draw, got to buy it for msrp.

I truly believe that Sony is throttling the supply of consoles on purpose. It was covered by outlets this week that they are taking a loss on the consoles right now. To make up for that loss, they need to sell millions of software titles to offset it. However, there was only one first party major title. I got a PS5 day one and have only bought Miles so far.

Hey boys, I've been following Colin since Beyond! ep1, though kinda funny and now Sacred Symbols. last weeks episode was the best I've heard, you've truly reached "next Level". Loving Chris and Dustin making the triumvirate of playstation nerd knowledge. Always surprised that Colin hasn't hanged up the towel years ago and retired just from the amount of content he's created alone! But I also feel like this is the very beginning of something great, in reference to this years changes to Last Stand Media. Can't wait to press start on Hybroxia 2 on vita and this week's podcast, truly comfort food for the new year!

Hey you keep bringing up you hate the trophy cards on PS5. Just making sure you know you can see the trophy menu by going to the main menu hover over your game press down, right twice and you'll see the trophy progress highlighted and then hit X.

Couldn't agree more. It's really been bothering me. We pay for "ad free access" then we get videos with ads in them and are basically told "whatever, just fast forward through them." Yeah, it's very much a first world problem, but it's one that patrons shouldn't be dealing with. I know it's easier to only make one version, but, ya know, I can't always just do whatever is easiest at my job either. And remember, this whole video-podcast thing was a stretch goal for a long time. The videos were created FOR patrons.

Regarding Mass Effect remaster, it's actually a shame that EA felt the need to change the camera angles that focus on Mirandas (pretty fine) ass. She was a character that was meant to be sexualised, she was created to be genetically perfect, she tries to seduce the player for her own ends.

I watched both Saved By The Bell & Futurama. I gotta say I believe Colin Was Right. Saved By The Bell was better. Also on the topic of Lady Dimitrescu, I am with the freaks fawning over her. Vampires were always my favorite monster & I'm 6'3" so it's rare I see a woman taller than me. I find it intriguing. I will gladly be her feeding pet as I fall directly into her bosom.

Loved the Days Gone chat. Just got the platinum and totally agree that it's under rated. The patch Dustin talked about was a game changer. Can't wait for the sequel on Unreal 5.

Sorry about your thumb Dustin. I have to take it easy on my weak joints working out, but maybe do more computer gaming to let your thumb rest, and then jump in once in a while on ps5/xbox. Or just do like Chris and be an Eldritch. Get some lessons from him. lol

2160p is 4k (3840x2160). dustin was correct that tv marketing switched to the horizontal axis, presumably because it sounds like a bigger improvement and helps convey that is it 4 times the resolution of 1080p (1920x1080, aka 2K). In the case of how God of War runs, I believe the confusion stems from the fact that it retains both the fidelity and performance modes of the ps4 pro version, just that the fidelity option is now 4k/60, rendering the performance mode obsolete. This is also the case for Ghost of Tsushima and Days Gone.

Horizon Zero Dawn is STILL not patched for PS5. With the sequel coming later this year, this game really needs a patch to run at 60fps. Anyone else agree?

I stopped drinking Snapple when they betrayed the great glass bottle. Snapple apple was true greatness, and it is lost to me now. The plastic bottle just isn't the same. Better to have loved and lost than to...no fuck that, gimme my glass bottle back haha

The Embracer situation is interesting. What's more interesting is that their situation is not unique. There are a lot of listed Swedish companies buying up loads of game companies with absolute fuck you money right now. MTG and Stillfront, are the other big ones. As to why this is happening, it's probably because Sweden is incredibly hands off when it comes to interfering with the markets. These companies basically have free reign to issue as many shares as they want, take in as much debt as they want and buy up whoever they want to expand at a ridiculous rate. I'm sure there's a limit at some point but it's not in sight yet. Quick dirty expansion just seems to be the name of the game. It seems like a bubble but whether it's good or bad is way above my pay grade.

Sure, give her credit for her work on AC 1 but she hasn’t done much since. “Saved by the bell is way more important than futurama.” I’d probably agree with you there Colin. 😅 Chris mentions the BioShock tattoo and it’s interesting because my friend has that one too. Seems to be a popular one. I don’t know if Booker actually has it but Jack from the original does.
