We are officially in the age of the ubiquitous multiplayer shooter. It's no longer about how many new games devs can get out the door (unless you're in the Call of Duty orbit); instead, it's how long and how well devs (and publishers) can support their games that have already been released. Destiny 2 came out nearly three years ago, and whether it was under Activision's direction -- or more recently Bungie's itself -- the enjoyable FPS has earned a reputation for being stickier and more addictive than many of its counterparts, both free-to-play and paid. Now, Destiny 2 has a future roadmap that brings it through 2022, and -- yes indeed -- it's coming to PlayStation 5, too. So take a listen, as Destiny 2 expert CRG (that's Chris Ray Gun!) sift through it all... with plenty of your input, of course.

My fav online (and only) game that I've played consistently since summer 2014 beta. So many fond memories. Really excited about this new era of Destiny!

Jordan Avery

I wanted to hear what Christopher gun Smithe Higgins had to say. I’m really looking forward to what’s coming to though savathun how you doin. I’m curious if she is going to resurrect orxy lol you thought it was going to be that easy nah we are kind of screwed

When you talk about different style games in the Destiny universe I think they should do an Xcom or Gears Tactics type game based on the skirmishes from the fallen on the city that made the titans create the walls. Having a base building section with the last city and then tactics gameplay would be great to me.

Such a DORK. You deserve to have a nap in the sun as someone enscibes "dork" on your back with sun tan lotion. (Police Academy reference) I don't play Destiny, but you know your shit. I get it, but don't want it. Great job non the less.

Dom posa

Good shit. Not going to play it because I already play The Division but definitely interesting

I really enjoyed this!! Thank you so much Chris!

JD

Great show, Chris! As a Destiny 2 player myself, you were a well-informed and well opinionated host for this Destiny 2 look at the future.

Andrew

Chris let me lick you

Michael Thew

So I am pretty sure destiny was a free upgrade from ps3 to PS4. Not a big deal but Activision doesn’t need more bad press then it already does lol

Activision actually split from Bungie in 2019, so now Bungie is at the helm as an independent developer. Many Destiny fans were happy with this change.

Joe West

Colin, please let Chris know he absolutely popped off on this episode! Even though I don’t care about destiny, I still listened to support you two, and I really enjoyed Chris’ comedy. Keep up the awesome work gentlemen.

Frank G.

Hey...you didn't say take care guys. I want my five dollars back Maldonado!🤑 In all seriousness I think Bungie will finally show its true potential year 4 and beyond. I think it was maybe some growing pains they had to do with new light and switching to independent. Also the pyramid ships are both the coolest and scariest shit I've seen in a video game and I'm looking forward to seeing that story Unveil.

Nathan Favreau

Why do you ask why am I watching this? Well of course Chris it’s to hear your sweet sweet voice serenade me.

I must read the LORRRREEEEE!!!!

Dennis Fox

What a great episode. Chris killed it.

Jeff Caseres

Hey Chris! Great episode! You said that Destiny 2 is better on PC because of the 60fps, and if it was 60fps on console you would play it there only. I just wanted to let you know that.....Stadia......runs it at 60fps whether its on. PC or TV....*runs away* 😆 Love you guys! Keep up the good work!

Zack Forney

Awesome energy that chris brought to the podcast. I don’t play Destiny or really care in any way but hearing him be excited made me excited about it and want to hop in

Robert Graham

Woa, solo Chris is awesome. More solo Chris podcasts! :)

Brandon Soto

Ahhh peace & quiet. #AnEpisodeWithoutColin

Reuben Barrett

This was great I've been meaning to give destiny a go

Stefan Catinella

Damn it Chris, you made me wanna get back into Destiny... I was getting so many single player games finished too...

Tyler Bello

I can't disagree enough about "systemic racisism" point to the policy that is holding down black people and lets fight it together. Not coming at you Colin.. but this is what the media and politicians say they are intentionally vague so you can never truly fight it and solve anything.

superbadisfunny .

Haven't played destiny in 2 years but I always miss the shooting and the strike playlist was my favorite. I just upgraded my pc and I'm downloading it now especially after that conference. Thank you for the AWESOME episode, it just clarified for me what is great about destiny.

I really hope they go back on sunsetting. We're just going to be grinding for the same rolls on new stuff, and i always grind out god rolls on the new stuff no matter how great my old stuff is, so it's just removing the fruits of my efforts for no reason. I like going back and playing with Ghost Primus from the Leviathan raid. It's not the best but it's solid and dependable and fun, but after this season i wont be able to use it cuz it's light level is capped too low. Sunsetting just seems like lazy game design so they dont have to make interesting loot for us to chase. It seems like a solution to an issue that doesnt actually exist.

JD

No, it will be changed to a different requirement. They've done this before when the changed the Trials of the Nine trophy requirement after they removed Trials of the Nine in Year 2

Jeremy Sagun

You’ll still be able to use it. Just not in new end game content.

Anonymous

Yeah, sure, i'll be able to use it for pointless open-world content and legacy content (much of which is being removed next season) that don't matter anymore and i have no reason to play, but i absolutely wont be able to use it in current content. The penalty for being just a few levels under the recommended level are so severe that i wont be able to use some of my favorite guns going forward. And that's one of many ways in which the light level system is broken and poorly designed. And again, for no good reason. People will always play the new content. People are still grinding for god rolls on ALL of the new guns that Bungie releases. People like myself like to have a large collection of guns to play with. I'll use the new stuff and the old stuff equally. So getting rid of the old stuff is pointless. It's a solution in search of a problem. A problem that doesnt actually exist. Sunsetting does nothing but take away our favorite stuff that we worked hard for, for no valid reason.

Paul Andrew

Chris, this was great, thank you.

Benjamin Schultz

Chris’ excitement and appreciation of Destiny got me pumped for the new content. He sounded less tainted than other Destiny podcasts that are too critical. Love this content.

LastStandMedia

Other games like this have begun changing their Trophies, so I suspect you'll see that here, too.
