As PlayStation 5 lumbers toward us like an AT-AT stomping across Hoth (but in a good way), the calendar has left us with precious few PS4 exclusives of consequence. The Last of Us: Part II is obviously the King of the Unreleased, and Dreams is a commercial long-shot, but Ghost of Tsushima might just be the most intriguing of the bunch. One part third-person action game and another part historical fiction, Sucker Punch's eagerly-anticipated PlayStation 4 swan song finally has a release date. Well, window. So let's chat about it. Oh, and have we mentioned we're making a PS4/Vita game of our own? It's true! It's called Twin Breaker, and we're super excited to tell you more. Along with other announcements out of The Game Awards and news from parts elsewhere, we fit in some of your inquiries, too. Does Final Fantasy VII Remake's lack of PS4 exclusivity matter? Does Capcom risk going overboard with the remakes? Is Death Stranding getting critically short-changed? Why is Dick a nickname for Richard? Mysteries abound!

There's actually a burger restaurant in Minneapolis named Red Cow.

Isn't it confirmed the new Xbox is just called "Xbox" not Xbox series x

Craig Mcguire

I like the look, the name or designation is whatever really, at this point I just look at either box as simply Playstation and Xbox regardless of the number or designation. As far as reveals go it may not have set everyone's world on fire but its certainly a far cry from that disastrous 2013 reveal and it's already at 3 times the views of the Scarlett trailer from E3 so whatever they did, it worked. They just keep going about everything real business like with relatively low drama and fuss, which like you say Colin is probably what they need to do. Really really interested to see the new Playstation design now and yes if it's anything like the dev kit (surely not) may god have mercy on our souls

It’s also kinda weird cause the name of the new console is kinda what colin has been saying the PlayStation and Xbox should do just call them by their name

Travis Johnson

I think the lack of outrage over FF7's exclusivity just comes down to genre. Sure there have been Final Fantasy games on Xbox, and with X enhancements players with both consoles will likely want to go with xbox, but I don't think there are many JRPG-specific fans out there who only own an Xbox One, and I'm pretty sure the ratio of sales of games like FF15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 on both platforms speak to that. I wouldn't be surprised if their PS4 versions outsold their Xbox counterparts 10 to 1.

Jack Sibert

I don't really get the hang up about the form factor of the new XBox, particularly how some can't wrap their minds around where the Series X will be set on the entertainment center. Like, literally just put it the same place you set your Nintendo Switch dock.

Colin can I get a link to that Civ tutorial?

LastStandMedia

Outside of games -- which obviously is paramount -- I love the moves Xbox has been making.

LastStandMedia

Well, we discussed this a week or two ago, in regard to Microsoft's once-big push to get JRPGs (like Blue Dragon, etc.), and how it didn't work. But there IS an audience for EVERYTHING on EVERY console!

LastStandMedia

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a huge deal. I won't be getting one, so I'll be putting it nowhere.

Great episode this week guys. Well every episode is a great episode but this one was especially great, seemed like you guys had a lot of fun recording this one. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Anonymous

The drop this week had me in stitches. I love when you guys laugh at all of the absurdity of the write ups for these games.

JD

This week's drop has to be one of the all time best. I was dying of laughter when Treasure Rangers came up xD Oh btw, that other indie game that referenced Kingdom with a capital K most likely was referring to the long running and lauded historical fiction manga, Kingdom, based loosely on the Warring States period in China.

Caleb Greer

I laughed like 20 times this episode.

Bogey Zero

Chris, you can absolutely turn off the theme music and sound. In fact you can toggle them on/off independently. (Keep music but turn off menu sounds and vice versa)

FoxHopSmash

I love when the drop just totally derails both Colin and Chris and its just devolves into laughter and anger.

LE

Tell Chris there is a option to turn of the sounds for themes. It’s in the settings.

I personally do not understand MS when presenting the Xbox brand. I imagine they are trying to present the new Xbox as one of those home devices like Amazon Echo or Apple's Homepod, but it just looks too big and bulky. There there is the names. How is having all these products like the Xbox One, the Xbox One X, the Xbox One S, the Xbox One S All-Digital, or the Xbox Series X not going to be confusing to say parents or what not?

Haydyn

Oh Silly Chris. You can disable the background sounds on the XMB. Go to settings, Sound and Screen, System Music and uncheck the box. Any theme with music won't play.

Chris B

How do you get dick from Richard? Well.... you ask nicely

Couple of quick thoughts on this weeks episode: firstly Colin, your upstairs neighbors may have a Roomba vacuum which you can run all you damn well please because you don't have to do anything other than set a schedule and let it work. I do this to keep my cat's hair under control. Secondly, Red Robin offers bottomless steak fries (which is kinda cool I guess) but also offers bottomless floats. Root beer or coke floats or whatever soda you like and they will indeed bring you all the ice cream or soda you can consume during your stay. I'm not a huge fan of Red Robin, but those 2 things are quite the draw when it comes to picking between equivalent price point and dining experiences sometimes that can tip the scales.

They actually did confirm the new name is just Xbox. But each new xbox is going to be part of a different series. This new one is series X. They have another series they haven't revealed yet that's more budget oriented with less power and judging off their naming conventions I'd venture to guess it'll be the Series S. Then whenever they decide to make new consoles they'll just give em a new series name. The apple naming scheme. I personally don't like it but I guess we'll see how it lands with the public.

NeO JD

The Fine Chinacast. 😄 There’s a Redbox at my supermarket and I’ve tried to use it but it’d never accept my card, so I said fuck it and never used it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ GoT looks good. I’m expecting 8.5s at the lowest. I don’t know how hot NFS Heat is doing when it had a sale announced before the game even came out and it already has a permanent price drop. Maybe PS4 players are that desperate for a decent racing game. I’m actually on the opposite end of Chris where I only keep PS4 themes that have good music.

On the capcom conversation I would like to add that it would be cool to see a remake of Darkwatch. I feel like that game was very underrated. Does anyone remember this game?

Carlos Quintanilla

I'm guilty of favoring story over gameplay sometimes. 2017's Prey is probably the best example of a game I really enjoyed narrative and world exploration-wise despite the clunkiness of the gameplay. Though I maintain if Prey was a movie and not a game, I would love it twice as much.

Lucas Gremista

I think you have the duty of writing the best description possible for Twin Breaker, then adding at the end something like: "Please feel free to use this write up as an example for your game, looter shooters not welcome".

Monolith also made FEAR you chuckle fish

Owen

What program are you and Chris using to communicate if I may ask? I’m always surprised he sounds so clear when you aren’t in the same room.

Joel Wood

Hey Guys. Dick is short for Richard the same way Bob is short for Robert. In the middle ages it became popular to give nicknames that were names that rhymed with shortened versions of the original name. Hence, Richard becomes Rick, Dick, or Hick, William becomes Will, Gill, or Bill, etc..

John Fazio

I was vacuuming when you guys were talking about it and for a second I was nervous that I was the person above your apartment vacuuming when I realized that this isn’t live and I’m in Augusta Maine. Keep on keeping on!

Holy shit the drop this week was hilarious!

Thanks for answering my question, also as to the response of "Why do you care?", I don't care personally but I know many people look to games journalist outlets for recommendations how they should spend their money and from the reviews I have read it seems like there is an unfair bias against DT. If a reviewer plays 60+ hour game for 2 hours and quits then they aren't doing their job of reviewing the game. Their job is not to like a game, their job is to play a game and give a review as to whether or not it is a good game or not. They should be informing people, not intentionally influencing them.

Not Sure

About game innovation: I feel like innovation is lost to the generations. Basically, a younger generation comes along loving all these remakes buying all the stock; not really playing the games that birthed their style. So, they're really experiencing the game like it's the first of their kind, keeping the demand for redundancy alive.

Kaz Redclaw

Probably after you recorded this, MS decided that they're just having everyone call the Xbox Series X just "Xbox." I wonder if that sticks if people will just start calling them the Xbox 2001 and Xbox 2020.

LastStandMedia

I actually brought up Apple above to another commenter. I've thought about it a bit and I've come to that same conclusion. Makes a bit more sense to be now (though still not ideal).

LastStandMedia

Yeah, I had a hard time reconciling Prey's gameplay with everything else. I liked the game, but I just didn't want to actually PLAY it.

Owen

Thank you sir. We’ve been using google hangouts and it sounds like shit lol

Context Should Matter

17:10 I didn't watch the game awards but when you mentioned Marx I had to go look it up. I guess this means it's cool for me to steal Disco Elysium since the people own the means of production right?

Robert F Friemering

Haha, Chris said his PS4 Theme has Halo in the back. My Microsoft profile image is the PlayStation logo.
