Hey All.

It’s with a heavy heart that I announce Fireside Chats will be wrapping up towards the end of this year. While I don’t want to “retire” the brand forever -- because maybe one day I’ll bring it back or decide to do one-offs or something -- the show will go quiet beginning this fall.

I’m currently sitting on six episodes of the show that have yet to be published, and have eight more scheduled. All six of those episodes will go live, and all eight of the scheduled episodes will be recorded and posted as well. So, you can expect 14 more episodes, with a 15th from me, before year’s end. All episodes will go live, as usual, on Wednesdays at 9a PT.

How did I come to this decision? Well, I’ve been mulling it over a lot, and have had a lot of ups and downs in figuring out what I should do. The reality is, the Internet is a hostile place for everyone, but it’s especially hostile for public, well-known figures like me. And I’ve come to the conclusion that “it only takes one” to turn over the applecart, and that maybe I should pull back before someone proves my math correct.

The nature of my show is complete vulnerability and openness. I record Fireside Chats in my apartment, and it requires incredible trust. I give people my address and my phone number, I invite them into my home, they often meet Erin and Lola, and so on. A lot of people might not know this, but I never look at who a person is as far as their Patreon level (or if they support me at all), nor do I Google around about them, or anything else. It’s what makes the show fun, I think. I don’t know anything about the people that are coming through. But that also makes the show a bit of a wildcard. I never know what I’m going to get. But that’s also the downside.

The reality is, putting myself repeatedly in this sort of situation is unwise. Because, as I’ve been running all of this through my head recently, I can’t escape the fact that my safety has been threatened on many occasions over the years, including recently over the PAX fiasco, and that perhaps I’m being too cavalier not only with my own safety, but more importantly those around me. I want to be clear that no one has done anything wrong, and I’ve had zero bad experiences with people recording the show. But I also know there are people out there that want to hurt me, and I don’t want to expose myself -- and especially my loved ones -- to any danger. The latter of which would be maximally selfish. I'm a grown man, and grown men make decisions not only that benefit them, but those around them.

Ironically, as I recently started to edge towards maybe continuing to do the show, two things happened that convinced me not to, almost back to back: Side Quest’s writer, Sophia Narwitz, was doxxed. And then the next day or so, my friend Blaire White was doxxed. This is on top of everything else you see every day. The bickering, the fighting, the back and forth. It would be easy enough for someone to ask to be on the show, come into my apartment, and do anything they wanted. They could distribute my number and my address. They could do any number of things.

I’m sorry, crew. I simply cannot run these risks anymore, not only for me, but for my family. I have the strange feeling that if I don’t make this call now, I’m going to regret it.

Fireside Chats is by far Colin’s Last Stand’s least-trafficked show, and it’s not the reason that very many people signed up for Patreon, at least not in its entirety. But I know there are fans out there that love the show. I happen to be one of those people. But all good things must come to an end. A two-plus year run for an eclectic interview series is awesome, but as someone close to me reminded me recently, it’s also a relic of “the old CLS.” I think it's time to let it go.

I don’t feel an incredible need to replace Fireside Chats with anything. I’d argue that Colin’s Last Stand’s Patreon offering -- between Sacred Symbols, Sacred Symbols+, KnockBack, Side Quest, and Let’s Plays -- already gives incredible bang-for-your-buck, frankly well in excess of any Patreons I’ve encountered. You’ll still get all of these shows (I promise, none of them are going anywhere), you’ll still get to interact with literally every one of them (whether by submitting inquiries or picking topics or games… or both!) as we move through 2019 and into 2020, and I have zero intentions of freezing any further shows.

Knowing me, I will also probably launch something new anyway. LOL. But we’ll see what the future holds.

I know this will be disappointing to some of you, and that to a lot of others, it won’t matter at all (again, I see the traffic!). But I hope you understand where I’m coming from and why I’m making this decision.

Thank you for your understanding, support, kindness, and love. As always. -Colin

I'll miss the show. But understand the decision. Gotta look out for you man!

Alex Bolton

Sad to hear, but with the way this world is turning now I don't blame you one bit Colin. Thanks for the great fireside chats content we did get, and I'm looking forward to the next piece of CLS you have up your sleeve! Cheers

Quinn

Bummer but I totally understand. Always had a slight dream of sitting down on Fireside. Sorry people suck, Colin.

Simon Winstanley

I’m really sad to hear it will be going, I thought it was one of the most interesting shows I’ve listened to. But I totally understand the concern. ❤️

Hozi

It's sad, what about an official studio or rented studio with security. Will that help? But if this your final decision, I respect it. Beyond fire side chat.

Andres

Smart decision. Unfortunate.

Joey Finelli

Bring back “Colin was right”

Anonymous

Loved the show!! Was there any thought of doing a Skype version of the show?? I know it’s not the same as sitting in a room with someone, but perhaps it could’ve helped even more people be in the show..

Owen

Look at you talkin about your family. Dunno why but I liked reading that you put it that way. Bummer that this is the world we live in right now. You gotta take care of yours though man.

Anonymous

I didn't listen to this show all the time, but when I did. You had some pretty good guests.

Marius Skarsem Pedersen

Really sorry to hear that, the show is great! But your reasons make total sense. So sad that the world has come to this. Bums me out, man.

Anonymous

I recently binged all fire side chats from 2017 and 2018 and I feel sad by this news but also feel it’s completely understandable.

Anonymous

Unfortunately it's the only decision to be made, I'm glad you're being smart and doing what is best for you and yours

Anonymous

Unfortunate. Going to miss the show, but family health and safety always comes first.

Anonymous

Hate that the show is going away.. loved every episode but understandable with everything going on.

Ethan Harter

Shit, man, I'm bummed to hear about this. However, your safety comes first. I'm sorry you have to discontinue the show in order to feel safe. We all have your back. 😎

Anonymous

Gonna miss the show... but I understand.. love you Colin. Keep doing you.

Anonymous

Smart move you never know what could happen. I can't wait to see what you think of next.

Curse These Metal Hands

Totally understand man. People suck ass and you gotta look out for yourself and your loved ones. Looking forward to those last 15 🖤

Anonymous

Sucks, but you have to think about number one. Totally understand the sentiments you shared. Here’s to hoping you do these episodes every now and then! Thanks for all you do brother!

Ian (616Entertainment)

There's no way this was an easy decision, Colin, but I respect the shit out of it. I always wanted to be on Fireside Chats, to be honest. When my American Movie pitch (fucking LOL) didn't land I always wanted to pitch you an episode about being straight edge, but the timing never seemed right. All good things come to an end, and Fireside Chats will be missed. A toast, I say, to the legend that was!

Anonymous

Alexa this is so sad please play my heart will go on (recorder version). But seriously Colin. It’s all good this is going and i think we all understand your reasoning. I’m still praying that the new show you will probably launch at some point is a Jets or football podcast. I always love listening to bitter fanbases;) ❤️ you Colin and good luck in fantasy football this year. Hope you don’t take last again

Anonymous

We love you Colin. Never let the others speak louder. We support your decision

Eric Smith

Will be missed greatly but completely understand, will you do something new ?? The insights gained on countless issues and people cannot be understated.

Anonymous

Truly sad l, but the milkshake idiot really brought to life the reality of the situation and I rather you be safe than something to happen to you. I still would love if there could be one offs once in a blue moon like the Jeff Canatta political episodes (maybe around the primaries or the election), but you do what’s best for you. Thanks for providing countless value for 5$.

Liam Fagan

Good for you col. You've got to do what you've got to do x

Anonymous

The safety of your loved ones and yourself can, and in our opinion, should be a high priority. Do what is best for you and we will continue to enjoy the content you put out.

Anonymous

We are here for you Colin. I love FS Chats but at the same time we all understand the need for safety. Keep up the absolute amazing work.

Anonymous

That is a real bummer man, it's my second favorite thing you do right now (Sacred Symbols being first). I do encourage you to do one offs every now and then, probably with people you already trust (Jeff Canata and others). You're safety is important of course, so it's understandable.

Forrest Hunter

I think this is the right move, man. I don't want anything to happen to any of you. If you had a studio with security, that would be one thing, but in your home? Nope.

Captain Canada

Hey Colin, I'm definitely sad to see this show go away, but I totally understand your reasons. Honestly, I would be doing the same thing, were I in your position. I did have one question: a while back I remember you mentioning a second interview with Jane Doe, is that still happening? Fingers crossed that it's one of the banked recordings you're sitting on for the final releases. Thanks for being awesome, best wishes dude.

Shaun Sannerude

This sounds like an incredibly sensible idea to me. Not worth putting yourself & your family at risk as there are plenty of crazy people out there who could falsify who they are to try & do harm to you

Kyle Goodrich

Completely understand. You've put yourself out there in a risky way for a while and it took some threats for you and all of us as fans to really realize how much of a gamble you are taking in terms of safety. Would love to maybe occasionally hear some fireside chats with people you are comfortable and familiar with, loved the one with Jaffe and others with people you were already buddies with as well.

Jared Lainhart

It was a good run! Force Chris to become a full time hire and replace it with his podcast 'snark tank'. I definitely need more episodes of that show in my life.

Travis Johnson

Very sad to read, but you have to do what's best for you and yours. Selfishly I'll say that I had long hoped to someday contact you about doing an episode (speaking from personal experience about immigrating to Canada from the US and acquiring a new citizenship, since it's something so many people threaten to do for political reasons), but it's worth it to me and likely everyone here that you feel safe. It'll certainly be remembered fondly.

David Graham

The only constant in the universe is change.

Samuel Mills

Sucks that it had to come this, but I completely understand.

Anonymous

I didn’t listen to fireside chats much unless the guest was particularly intriguing but I’m sorry you’ve been driven away from an obvious passion project. Much respect for making a tough decision to protect your family.

Anonymous

Thanks for the update man. Totally understand. I do wonder whether Skype would have been a good option to consider, as I'm sure there are plenty of interesting guests who can't travel, but totally support your decision. Thanks for all that you do.

Adam Niksch

Very sad. It definitely was one of the most interesting shows I listened to, but in the end it’s understandable why it has to end. I don’t remember exactly where I heard this, but the best thing about the internet is it gives everyone a voice, and the worst thing about the internet is it gives everyone a voice.

Anonymous

Totally understandable, thanks for the update colin 💕

Anonymous

Heartbreaking, as I've already said, Fireside Chats is my favorite CLS show. But I understand the safety of you and yours is paramount. Why do people have to suck so much? 😞

Anonymous

I've listened to every episode and it will be missed, but this is a completely understandable decision. I can't think of another podcast that so openly welcomes guests who are essentially strangers, and there's definitely a reason for that. I would love to see it come back in a different form (the online Knockback episodes show that it's possible to create a high quality online show), but something new would be awesome too.

Jonathon H

Always thought this show was cool. Random people just sharing their stories was always interesting but no doubt the safety concern is understandable.

Tom Cargill

It's unfortunate to see such a great show, with such candid discussions go away. However, you should always do what's best for you and your loved ones. It's sad to see it go, but it's definitely the smart decision.

Jeremiah Lyne

Being honest, this is my favourite CLS show. It was interesting to see/hear Colin getting progressively better at interviewing guests and it always felt so natural considering how varied the content. I can understand the reasoning behind the retirement of the show but I really hope its not the end of Colin doing that type of show.

Nierly Crazy

While it may have received the least amount of traffic, I just want to say that many of us greatly appreciate how much work was put into each episode of Fireside chats. Hopefully you’ll do a couple of episodes here or there (as you mentioned as a possibility), but you gotta do what’s best for you and your loved ones Colin, no one can blame you for that. Keep it up!^.^

Cash

Damn, I always wanted to send in my story and always wanted to be on, sorry things had to happen this way.

Phillip Guglielmo

Absolutely devastated to hear this, but I completely understand. I didn't always comment, but I listened every week. As you said though, your platform is stupidly-good value anyway - I'm honestly getting more mileage out of CLS than Netflix at the moment.

redwingcody

Thank you for this show while it lasted. Have you considered recording at a neutral site when you have unknown guests on? It may not be worth it to rent out time at a studio or something though, and you'd have to leave your house ;)

Anonymous

This wicked bums me out but I totally understand. I always thought if I could get out to Cali someday I might have been able to put together a good pitch to chat about the space race. Gotta protect yourself and your family, my man.

Jeremy Shook

It’s an unfortunate situation that’s for sure but I and others completely understand. I always agreed that Fireside Chats was the hidden gem of CLS.

Alex Ball

Thank You, Colin. We don’t deserve this kind of response and the way you really appreciate us is one of the many reasons I have been a Patron since before you made your first CLS podcast. A lot of people would have just said that they made a business decision to cancel a product and that would be it. I have a suggestion: Perhaps instead of a Fireside Chat with randoms/fans/patrons you could do a monthly diary. Tell us a funny thing that happened on the beach, or tell us how many times you ate at Chic-Fil-A, or talk about the Jets, anything you want because it would be YOUR diary.

Dustin Goncharoff

I'm looking forward to the last run of episodes - so many interesting conversations have been had on them about topics that I ordinarily have no interest in at all.

Tony Rivera

Let’s not have a “Colin was right” moment with your theories on this one. Good call, Colin. Love and peace to Erin and Lola, and the entire crew. Perhaps recorded phone sessions could still occur. But I don’t know how you would do it or if it would be feasible. Your show has brought awareness and understanding to such rich and, sometimes, closet-controversial topics that it’s a shame to let go. Re-evaluate options and finish the year strong. Revisit another day, and until then, let’s hope that we can somehow make the gaming communities great again.

Anonymous

Can totally appreciate this Colin. As your fans and supporters I think we'd agree the safety of you and those around you is paramount. Fireside Chats was a unique and special show, but no podcast is worth you being in harms way.

Anonymous

As sad as this whole situation has become much respect Colin. Family Over Everything!

Anonymous

Podcast Beyond, Colin and Greg Live, Colin Was Right has now Fire Side Chats. Another Amazong show cancelled. Your guests were always interesting and insiteful. Learned a lot and it will be a forgotten gem.

James Kinslow III

I love all of your shows, but I'm probably one of the rare ones who puts Knockback and Fireside Chats above Sacred Symbols simply because I'm not all that invested in video games anymore (with the exception of Pokémon). That being said, I understand your reasoning and I don't want you to get hurt. I've been following you since 2012 and you were best part of Kinda Funny and the only reason I have a Patreon account today. Stay safe, Colin! We love you.

Trent Miller

Sad to hear it, but I understand. ‘Twas good while it lasted.

Luis Sanchez

Amazing show, sad to hear it is ending but doing everything to keep you and your loved ones safe is the smartest choice to make. We love you Colin!

Kenny Gutzler

Enjoyed them all, but I just know that this means your narrowed focus will only make everything esle better. Keep on keepin' on brodel!

Anonymous

Breaks my heart to hear this as I enjoy fireside chats almost as much (if not more so) than any of your other shows, but I understand completely. Keep doing what you’re doing man, you’ve got my support.

Ryan Hayman

Makes sense in your current situation. Maybe someday you will have an office space separate from your home that would accommodate this better. It's a sad reality that people can be shitty. The pax thing is really a bummer too. It is my favorite show to go to, and at it was the only time I saw you (2015/16?). It's unbelievable how that company is acting, and makes me question going ever again.

James Ketchum

Totally understood. In today's ease of communicating through technology, do you think it would take away from the concept if you recorded these via Skype? I know quality of sound/connection could be an issue or frustration.

James Kinslow III

PS: I hope it didn't come off that I'm not a fan of Sacred Symbols, because I absolutely am a fan! It's just that video games don't mean as much to me now as they did five years ago.

CTE

I'm not very online, purposely, so when I hear stuff like this it seems so strange. Stranger yet that this is largely coming from the nerd / video game world (but then I never paid much attention to gamergate and the other moral panics that seem so common in that world). I can see why it wasn't the most popular, with many episodes nothing more than the background and stories of the diverse mix of people that were fans of CLS. In that respect, something is lost in that it strengthened the community, but safety always comes first.

Russell Garrett

It’s a shame. I know it’s the least popular CLS show but I consider it a hidden gem, even if the gem is hidden in plain sight. I understand though. Even without it, you’ve still got one of the best value Patreons (is that the word?) going.

Anonymous

I recently binged all fireside chats from 2017 2018 and I feel sad for this, as I loved the idea, but also completely understand your decision here.

Ørjan Benjaminsen

Too bad! I have really been diving into it lately (only found CLS in the beginning of March) and find it really interesting. I actually heard ep50 today so this was kinda sad to hear, but I totally understand why. You're a totally cool dude Colin and even if CLS is doing the PS plus thing, my pledge to your patreon is sturdy as bedrock. I dig your other shows and KNOW you'll bring us some other great shit in the future! Keep your head up my man! //End

Ansley Freeman

This is very disappointing Colin. This is the only podcast that ever helped me and many others I am sure. Fireside chats is why I became a backer and was going to reach out to you about a topic. I understand your reasoning though and i wish you well.

Anonymous

Thanks for writing this Colin. I’m sorry to see the show go (I personally really enjoy it) but I’m glad you’re doing what works for you. As things continue to evolve with you and your brand, I think it’s certainly ok to change when you need to. You do you, man, and we’ll still be here for you.

Ross Joseph

Upsetting to hear you'll be retiring the show, but you can't put your safety, and that of your loved ones, at risk. I completely understand your decision, especially considering you're hosting it from your own apartment, something I guess I never really took notice of before. Even though this is the end of Fireside Chat, and inviting random guests into your apartment/life, is there a possibility it could continue down the line via some other form or way?

Jayce Tamulevich

It'll be sad to see it go, it has been an incredible run so far, but I can only imagine how helpless and upset we'd all feel if anything were to ever happen. Besides, Smokey the Bear is probably already apprehensive as shit that you've kept a fire going for 2+ years.

Eddie Beusch

A great show and sad to see its retirement, but very understandable. Safety is paramount, especially in your position. Looking forward to the final run of episodes!

Max Stahl

This is a smart and understandable move. Thanks for the write-up.

Ryan Harvey

Really sorry to hear but maybe it's for the best. Your safety as well as that of your family comes first. Hopefully you succeed in buying Dagans new show hahaha 🙌. Keep up the great work and I'll keep supporting!

Arvel Crynyd

This is now the second time that one of my favorite shows on this channel is being canned (The OG Colin's last stand history-based content was the first for me). I always liked to listen to those longer in-depth interviews because of the interesting dynamics and changing topics (especially for me, the two German-centric shows have been quite interesting). Although I do understand the threats of the internet and the arising problems, I'm kinda sad that other possibilities like Skype, Discord or similar chat systems weren't considered. I'm sure you will come up with an appropriate and equally well-entertaining substitution.

Anonymous

I'm sad that this is the reality of the age - because you have a difference in opinions with someone, those (not all, but enough to warrant an action such as this) who differ in said opinion feel it is justified to come after you. It's despicable and disgraceful. I know none of those who claim to be on the side of justice who would openly welcome those they disagree into their home and really connect with them and have a dialogue. I will sincerely miss the show and the unique opportunity for expanding one's world view on such an intimate level. My only hope is if CLS grows to an extent that it warrants a studio, with the proper precautions in place, Fireside Chats could return. That said, CLS is a VERY personal endeavor, and I'm not sure if it would feel the same with more red tape around it. I'm happy you did what's best for you, your loved ones, and your safety. I'm sad to this this very important show end. I am disappointed in the people who are throwing temper tantrums and/or milkshakes at the idea that someone could be of a different belief and still be a good person. All the best to you, Colin. I can't wait to see what happens in the future and hopefully some day people will realize how childish this is - but I won't hold my breath.

James

That’s unfortunate, but you gotta do what you think is best. I would have liked to be a Guest on that show and talk about growing up and living upstairs from my godfather in the mob. I’m Staten Island, I think it would have been an awesome show, but anyways I’m sure you’ll find another show to replace it that will be just as great!

RescueRook

I hope you can bring the show back in the future. You’re a talented host who really seems to know exactly how to elicit a genuine and truthful response from those who sit in. In the meantime I will continue to support you and your incredible content. Keep up the great work!

Anonymous

It sucks this is how things played out but it's understandable. So far you've proven to be pretty "bullet proof" when it comes to the outrage mobs. You've stood your ground and came through the other side more successful every time. Going from IGN, to KF, to CLS, they kept trying to knock you down and you only rise to greater heights. Perhaps that is why you seem to be targeted so intently. You've proven almost immune to their usual bullshit tactics. I'm sad to see the show go but hope we can still get some good interviews from your father and other family members on Knockback.

Evan Bederman

I'm sorry to hear it, but understand. I think the show would be just as good if recorded remotely over Skype or something the way you and Dagan did for Knockback in the past, but I'm sure some guests will have worse audio setups than others and it would be a bigger headache than it's worth. The show had a great run, and you're closing it down for a good (if unfortunate) reason.

Gunnerzaurus

Colin, I respect your decision entirely, but are you totally against recording over Skype or other online mediums? So there's no direct interaction with your personal life, and also opens your doors to outside of Cali? I know its not your style, but I believe its worth considering. Your fans don't mind and understand entirely why. I interviewed you recently, Id be more than happy to help you set this up.

Christopher Toffolo

Sorry to see it go, but I completely understand your reasoning here. I always appreciated the podcast (especially the episode about the dog rescue, Pixel). Whether or not you fill the void it leaves or not, I'm looking forward to the present and future of CLS!

Anonymous

Sad that it's over, but totally understandable. Getting to be on the show was one of the coolest experiences ever, and I'll certainly never forget it! I've had many kind people message me and tell me how much they enjoyed the episode, and it warmed my heart. I know I've said it a million times now, but thanks for having me, Colin!

Marcus Brown

Although saddened I completely understand. Your saftey and well being means more then anything. Hopefully one day it can resurrect.

Anonymous

Not to reply on his behalf, but he mentioned something to this effect in a recent Knockback where he and Dagan prefer the face to face recording style.

TheWirv

This saddens me. Not necessarily the actual cancelation. Don't get me wrong, I like Fireside Chats. But I only listen to it occasionally, and I'm basically only here, and supporting you, for Sacred Symbols (inaugural SS+ ep was great btw.). What saddens me, though, is how all of this came to be. I just can't believe we (as in "the world") came to this point. All this toxicity sickens me. And the worst thing: We can't do anything about. Sad news, but life goes on. Keep up the awesome work, Colin! Much, much love from Munich, Germany ❤️❤️❤️ Marcel

Anonymous

Sad news but after recent events not completely unexpected. I'm one of those people who listen to each and every episode because it's so interesting to listen to the kind of people in this world that have such different hobbies and interest than me. From learning about Jane Doe's line of work to understanding how a dog groomer can sometimes understand your dog better than you, it was all very enjoyable. The show will be missed, Colin.

Anonymous

Glad there will be over a dozen more :)

Tim J Weckwerth

This show definitely grew on me over time. Each episode really made me realize that everyone has a story to tell. No matter where they are from, their background, their upbringing etc. I completely understand shutting it down. These people are getting so frustrated with their inability to affect your career that they have unfortunately changed tactics to tamper with the lives of those closest to you and your business. That definitely crosses the line. You are making the right decision here. As for those who suggest renting a space to record... I'd suggest just letting this one go. The traffic for fireside chats just doesn't justify paying money to rent out a place to record. Also, let's be honest. Renting a place would mean having to leave the house, and having to leave the house means having to put on pants. No one wants that... Not you... or any other honest man.

sean McGuire

This is a smart decision

Anonymous

The safety of your friends and loved ones should always come first. Maybe you could conduct interviews via Skype instead of opening up your home? I’m certain you’ve considered that already, but just laying it out there. Honestly you should take that time and invest it back in yourself. You work too hard brother. I’d hate to see you burn out.

Anonymous

What about doing the show remote recorded via Skype or something else? The audio quality may suffer a bit but you and Dagan did it a few times and it sounded pretty good. Would be a way to keep it going without any risk to your safety.

Chad Lewis

This is very sad news but 100% understandable. When we finished recording the episode and I met up with my wife on the pier the first thing I said was everything you stated. My immediate reaction was thinking Jesus this is kind of crazy. I will cherish the memory forever. Thank you for doing this show, thank you for making me a part of it, and I can’t wait to support what’s next.

Tyler

It’s funny how that works, huh? They try to de-platform him yet it just increases his platform.

Marc Elfering

Bummer but I completely support your decision. It probably is a matter of "when" not "if" , unfortunately. All the best sir! Still looking forward to everything else!

DoubleDave

To be honest the show had a great run and I'm not entirely sure what more could be done with it that hasn't been done already within that show. The episode count speaks for itself and it had a hell of a run. Smart choice for your safety and for the CLS brand as well.

Steve

As always I got your back bro it’s all good. Maybe this is a good way for you to work less and have a little more time for yourself and Erin. You put out tons of content as it is. Don’t stress over this to much!

Chris B

It is sad to see this but also understandable. This may not have been the most popular show you put out, yet I could feel the passion in all of the episodes.

Jason Stafford

I totally understand and I love the show. My only real disappointment is that I'll never be on it. Hehe

Anonymous

There goes my goal of asking to be on the show once I get my CPA.

Kyle Day

This is what I was going to post. Would love to still see the occasional episode with people you know about topics that are interesting. You’re too good an interviewer to drop fireside chats completely! All the best Colin.

Adam Barnes

Solid decision, my dude! I don’t really want my friends coming to my house, let alone strangers haha

Michal Dudic

More than anything else, I'm sorry that these are the reason why the show ends. But it has had an excellent run, 14 more is plenty, and I'm sure you will come up with something even better later down the line when the time is right. Right now, this is the best move for you, and with some hindsight, I'm sure it will have been a great move for all of us.

Dan Kolber

I’ll miss the show but can’t say I’d make a different decision if I was in your shoes

Anonymous

Totally respect and understand your decision, although I'm still sad to see the show go... I've said it before but I feel a particularly strong connection to the show and I'll miss it incredibly, but nothing comes before the safety of you and your family. Here's hoping we might one day get a nostalgic episode of KnockBack about the excellent eclectic interview series named Fireside Chats.

strawhatninja

I completely understand it’s sad news but if I had to lose one of your shows that would be my pick. Sacred Symbols + will help fill in the gap. Keep up the good work!

Barzenak

Sad, but completely understand. It is a scary world and I am not in the public eye so it is selfish to ask you to risk anything. Thank you for what you have provided and what you continue to provide.

Brock Smith

It is wise, considerate, selfless and righteous to put the safety of Erin and Lola above all else. I had kinda wanted to reach out at some point and chat about all the behind the scenes stuff of small business owners (I started my own about a decade ago and employ a dozen or so people atm), but Se La Vie, this is the right move. Much love from all of us 🙏 Cheers

It's a sad state of affairs that have led to this, but I believe you're making the right decision, Colin. Your family's health and safety are more important and Fireside Chats has an incredible archive. Keep doing you and stay safe.

Anonymous

Makes sense. You were a brave man for doing it in the first place! KFTC

Anonymous

I've been a big fan of Fireside Chats since the first episode was posted, so this is disappointing news to me, but I understand how you came to this decision, Colin. Thanks for detailing your thought process behind it!

Anonymous

Unfortunate, but completely understandable. Good decision! Safety is of utmost importance!

Tarik Fakir

I respect your decision Colin. ❤️

MrMattyPlays

Proud to have been apart of this series. Understandable decision and now you’ll have room for another series OR just to relax. All around smart choice 👍

Anonymous

Sorry to hear but completely understand. You have to do what’s right for you and your family going forward.

Michael Pasqualicchio

Makes sense. Too many crazy fucks out there. Its not worth it bro. Focus on your other shows and maybe make something new in the future. Keep up the good work!!!

Anonymous

Slightly disappointing but like you said there is so much more the CLS brand offers, it was a smart choice! Thanks and keep up the great work!

Tim Taylor

Going to miss Fireside Chats but completely support the decision.

Anonymous

Completely understand, but I'm glad you recognize that there are thousands of people who love you, despite the toxic, vitriolic filth that you unfortunately have to encounter. Keep up the great work! <3

Josh in Tampa

It’s a shame to hear but I think you’re making the right call for you and Eric etc. Sad that that’s where we’re at as a society but we are. Take care and be well Colin. Keep up all the great work.

Ben Bell

I'm definitely disappointed to hear about the show cancellation but I completely understand the reason behind it. You already provide more than enough value that another show isn't necessary, but if something new premieres I'll definitely watch it lol

Kaleb

Replace it with a Cooking with Colin show, but it's just you ordering take out

Frej Karlsson

I would love to see you do an interview series with people in the industry, maybe fellow game podcasters/ex-journalists and developers. You have mentioned that maybe some of them are afraid to have a public relationship with you but if you get a few maybe the rest will follow? And if they don't, shame on them.

Ryan Murdoch

Ah damn. It's all good though man, if you have a bad feeling it's best you trust your instincts. Stay safe Col.

Jason Bolla

A difficult decision to come to, I'm sure. But it's hardly a selfish one, and I'm certain no one blames you for the reasoning. It's always been low in terms of hits from what I gathered from your updates, but has been an enjoyable and very insightful look at your diverse audience. I'm glad it lasted as long as it did, and I hope your final episodes are enjoyable to record.

Anonymous

Sad to hear but understandable. Your and Erin's, but most importantly Lola's safety is of the utmost importance to all of us here in the cls community. The passion and hard work that you and the others put into every CLS project really does shine through. You make the weekdays just that much more barrable for me. Thank you. x

Dav9834

Thank you for all the fireside chats. Your first priority is your family, no need to apologize. There's people on the internet that are just plain evil, and ruin a lot of good things. Maybe in the future a fireside chat like series will emerge where you can do it safely. All the best to you guys!

Brogan Trull

CLS is now a Danganronpa exclusive podcast.

Riley Smith

It will be missed

Nathaniel Taylor

Saddened to see it go. But I understand the reasoning completely. Family always comes first. The internet is a toxic place, but CLS shines a ray of hope in the midst of the chaos. Thank you for all the content, Colin.

Matthew Clem

Totally understandable, Colin. While I wish I could've made it on the show at one point, it makes a lot of sense to sunset the show for now. Thanks for the transparency, and it's good that you're putting the well-being of your family first. We'll enjoy the rest of the episodes regardless! Thanks for all the hard work you put into CLS.

Anonymous

Do what you need to do to be safe Collin, I’m glad you prioritized what’s really important. Keep up all the great work in everything else, and thank you for such a great and insightful podcast series.

Anonymous

sad to hear this but of course your safety comes first. Maybe it can be done remote (over Skype or something like that)? It's a show with great diversity, which is what made it interesting. I know the content and audio quality will lower a bit but it can still be great content. Stay safe, Col.

DB Cooper

I can't believe Sophia and your other friend were doxxed, it's sickening. It's a shame you have to end it but completely understandable! You have to do what you have to do, especially for safety of you and your family and I can't imagine anyone having any issues with that. Being from some bad parts of LA I was initially surprised you let people into your house for the show but it worked out for as long as it did and I'm glad nothing happened in person. You were totally cordial and welcoming during my Chat, and I thank you for the awesome experience. I'll miss the series, but at least we still have Dagan and Lola ;)

Kenneth Oms

I’m sad to see the show go but you have to trust your gut instinct. Stay safe brotha!

Anonymous

It's sad to hear it's come to this Colin. Completely support your decision dude. You must put your loved and closest ones first. You did a fantastic job with this series. It was a real insight. Whatever you come up with next (if you replace it) will be just as innovative I'm sure. All the best.

Manuel Nascimento

I'm really sorry to hear this but I totally understand. It saddens me that the world has come to this - a world where if you're interested in having conversation about things, about life, you end up more exposed to the risk of getting hurt because of it. I want you to know that I really enjoy all your shows, truly, and I hope you can continue doing I'm really sorry to hear this but I totally understand. I'm going to miss this show: I first came to your content because of you insights and opinions about videogames and the industry in general, but was more than pleasantly surprised when I began listening to Fireside Chats and Knockback. The breath of topics, interesting guests and stories is really very good and I find it not only informative, entertaining, but also kind of a celebration of life in its different aspects. I wanted you to know that I appreciate you and all your work. Wish you all the best. them, despite the blow that I imagine this is to you. Barrel Titor

Eh. I'd stick it to the haters and keep going. The Amazing Athiests gets plenty of threats over the course of a year. You aren't any different. Milkshakes are weak tea. Your decision. You got down to real bridges and issues than Rubin ever will. Good luck

Anonymous

You’re doing the right thing. It only takes one to ruin everything. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Jeff Pollard

It's unfortunate that you had to make this decision. But it's also completely understandable. You have to think about you and your loved ones above all else. Sorry to see the show go, but as you said, there is plenty of content each week to keep us occupied. Keep up the awesome job you, Dagan, Chris, Dustin & Sophia do. Most importantly, keep on being YOU. You always keep it REAL and that's why we are here. <3

Alex Gritzmacher

Totally understand and respect your reasoning behind stopping the show. Hopefully we can get one-offs every now and then, maybe with people you know personally (I really enjoyed the episodes with former IGN co-workers you did a while back), or are at least well known enough personalities that you could reasonably trust them to invite them to your home.

Kain

Colin, I can't say I understand what your going through. But the safety of yourself and those around you are definetly more important. I am currently marathoning Fireside chats right now, (40/101) and to not say Im sad about this would be lying. One off would defenitly be great as I am enjoying every conversation that has been had so far. Every guest had been excellent, and some of which I would love tp hear you go at it with again. Thank you for all your great content, and please keep being yourself.

Phil Crone

Given the risk-reward of the show, probably the right call. Sucks that this is how it ends, but at least we got over 100 excellent episodes.

Anonymous

Sad to hear this but of course this is understandable. You really are one of the most transparent content creators I’ve ever had the privilege of supporting. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Anonymous

I seem to be part of the minority in that I really enjoyed the diversity Fireside Chats offered, but I completely understand this decision. I'm surprised you kept it going this long to be honest, that's a lot of trust you've been putting in people and I'm glad it's worked out so far. I hope you can figure out something equally unique and interesting to fill that slot! Keep it up, love your stuff.

Anonymous

Personally I think these people are to cowardly to do anything to you physically but there is always that chance :( safety first especially when it comes to your family

Daniel short

Easy decisions don’t make a man, it’s the hard ones Colin. As in it was the right decision to end fireside but I know it must of been hard

CoughE

Safety of you and your loved ones obviously comes first. I will miss fireside chats though. recent patreon and have been working my way through them, almost half way through! In the future, if you ever want to do an interview with someone, you could try reserving a meeting room in a public library or something similar. Just a thought. Much love from OK

Patrick A Crone

Sorry to hear the series is ending. But I’d rather you have a clean exit than some nut job doing something harmful. I’m sure you’ll find a way to resurrect the series in the future. But until then, I wish the best for the rest of you CLS branded shows.

Jay Phillips

Sad but totally understandable. Safety first. It's pathetic we live in a world where sharing an opinion about something online can lead to people wanting to hurt or kill you. I've never understood that.

Jeshua Anderson

This incredibly sad. I decreased to listening to about 1 fireside a month, but it was still a very good show. I did always think it was rather bold the access you gave your guests, but felt that more than anything showed the kind of man you are. Its sad the internet and people who themselves need to seek help have ruined it. But i %100 understand. My support for you only grows. Keep up the great qork!

Anonymous

I'm sorry to hear about this but your family's safety should always be your top priority and I completely agree after recent events - I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of topics discussed and it was always a treat to hear other perspectives (even when I wouldn't agree), so thank you for the chats while they lasted.

John Schulz

As everyone else is pretty much saying, do what makes you feel the safest. It really sucks to lose all the interesting conversations that FSC brings, but we live in scary times where you can't even disagree on seemingly insignificant things.

Anonymous

Safety first, brother. Be well.

BettyAnn Moriarty

Bud, I’m so sorry that it’s come to this. Since all the recent stuff, I think you’ve made a good decision. I love the show but I adore you. Safety first. And what this says about the insanity of too many on the internet is both frightening and heart breaking. I love you. ❤️😘

Anonymous

You’re making a rational decision Colin, one that people in your position have to make sometimes. I enjoy all of the content you put out, Fireside was no different. However, it would be selfish of me to demand you continue to do something that may jeopardize your own safety. I love the idea of you exploring new ideas and avenues for CLS content to replace it, but I have no grand expectations. Anyone who is upset at this news can take solace in the two year backlog of content you’ve already created for Fireside, anyone demanding more needs to step outside of themselves for a moment and think. You do amazing work with your business, work that is loved by many people of various backgrounds and experiences. Keep up the good work.

Donald Eckels

I completely understand. Safety and piece of mind come first. If it was one of your more popular shows if suggest seeing if you could rent a space for a day and record a handful of them in one go. Personally fireside chats were one of the few CLS shows I was actually listening to. My backlog of podcasts has gotten to too much to listen to all go your stuff. Regardless, you'll still keep getting my $$ since you're being transparent about this change and I hope to listen to more when I get the time!

Anonymous

Sad to see it go, but completely understand your reasoning. Keep those Tuesdays great!

Anonymous

I don't think anyone who supports you, in any capacity, can begrudge you for this decision. Like you said, you have to do what is right for you and your family, no different than what anyone else would do. I'm sure that I can speak for most of your supporters and say that we truly enjoy your content and look forward to CLS's future. Thanks, Colin!👍

RD_21

I would like to see you continue this podcast as I feel it gave you the possibility of being a great interviewer and help your audience get to know more about various subject. I do feel like if you had continued it, it may have been better to do them outside of your place. With that said your decision make sense and no one can be against you wanting to be sure, safe and protect you and the people close and dear to you.

Anonymous

This is sad to see. If you decide to bring it back, i will personally do security for you free of charge (I am in LA for another 3 years).

Anonymous

Hey new patron, but been following you since your ign days. Even as a super liberal, I’ve always enjoyed your work so I found the pax situation completely ridiculous. Really sad to see that this is the outcome of that arrangement, and can’t believe that people are willing to threaten you over video games.

Brandon Soto

Really disappointed you let these clowns online get to you, Colin. That’s all they are; Angry, miserable clowns. Sad to see the show go, but you know what’s best. Maybe in a year or so it’ll be back, when things die down more? Imo, maybe a Nintendo focused podcast with another co-host could be your next one. Or anything game-related from NES to Wii era.

Anonymous

Could you possibly make it a Patreon exclusive show just with people vetted through Patreon? I know the optics of that might be bad (have to pay to be on the show??) But it would be an option that helps you know exactly who is coming to your home.

Anonymous

I totally get it, Col. I listen to Fireside Chats intermittently, and I'm still working my way through the backlog. I hate that it's come to this, but I can't fault you for it. Would hate for something to happen to you. Keep up the good work, buddy!

Anonymous

I love the show, but I totally understand your reasoning. You gotta do what’s best for you and your family. Good Luck!

Anthony Flarida

First and foremost, I’m happy that this decision is gonna bring you comfort knowing that you’re no longer at risk of bringing someone on who has horrible intentions. Yours and your family’s safety should always come first and I think it’s a smart decision. Second, I’m gonna miss this show. Fireside chats has had a lot of awesome people from all over. The viewpoints and topics are always amazing. You gave me a platform to talk openly about Tourette’s Syndrome in a positive light and I will always be forever grateful for that and appreciate the opportunity. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for CLS. Cheers🥳

Anonymous

It’s a shame that due to the bullshit, you hAve to give up on something you seem to love but a man got to do what he needs to protect what’s his.

Timothy Bryant

Damn. That’s regrettable. However, you have to look out for you and your family’s best interest. This is a wise decision and seeing how the internet is always toxic, I can see it going away forever, but that’s okay. As long as you have price of mind and you are safe, then everything is good.

Tanner Brant

Sad, but I totally understand. Fireside Chats had a good run.

Zach Brown

I have enjoyed Fireside Chats immensely and learned and incredible amount from them (impressing my wife on more than one occasion when she’s said “how did you end up listening to a podcast about _______”), but my learning and enjoyment is secondary to your well-being and the safety of you and your family. It’s a nutty world, so we all respect your need to protect those you love.

Will Hahn

Damn dude, I’m sad that the show is being extinguished, but I totally get why you did it. If I were in the same boat, I would probably make the same decision. Here’s to the future of CLS and the rest of your awesome shows! :)

Anonymous

Makes sense Colin. I'm sorry you have to give up doing something you enjoy because of internet assholes.

Jordan

This really bums me out. Not your decision, given the context it makes total sense. I would make the same decision. It bums me out that a bunch of malicious asshats have forced your hand. It's frustrating and makes me sad. All that said, I want you to know it was a true honor to have been on an episode of fireside chats and to be face to face with a man I have respected over these many years. Lastly, no matter what you say about the show being retired, I'm still going to reach out once my bodysuit is done for a post mortem episode. I don't care if you turn me down, I'm still going to ask. See you in like... Idk 5 years?

Sup3rsh0tST

This is immensely disappointing... I hate the idea that this is a small victory for every piece of shit bully out there slandering your good name and steering your narrative away from your most heartfelt and vulnerable content. I understand and respect your decision, but it really stings to be ostencibly forced out of a passion project directly infused with us, your biggest and most interesting fans. We shall lament this abduction, for our intimate, one on one friend, Fireside Colin, has indeed been stolen from us by the toxic underbelly of violent hatemongers and hypocritical social justice warriors. All my appreciation and support, Col Thanks for rolling the dice for this long; And cheers for making incredible content across the board.

Anonymous

Iv only been supporting you a couple months, first at $1 just to get sacred symbols+ (love the name btw, pure gold) But last week I went up to $5, mainly to support you after the pax situation. You were extremely honest and truthful in that special episode you did, so i think it would be nice for you to borrow another name from Sony and make a Colins State of play solo show every say 3 months. I fully understand the "it only takes one" statement as I work with dogs everyday. Nearly every owner will say "they don't bite" or "they are just all noise" but as you said it only takes one, so im always mentally prepared for the worst case. Cheers from Nz

Anonymous

Congrats on the great run of episodes. Loved every one of them. I’ll be sad this show won’t be showing up in my feed anymore, but at the same time I completely understand why you’re doing it.

jbakes25

Sad the show will be ending, but glad you are taking the steps needed to protect yourself and your family. I enjoy your stuff and glad to be a patreon. It can be dark world both offline and online, so I support your decision. Best Wishes and safety to you and your family and to all patreons reading this.

Anonymous

I don't think anyone could say this isn't a wise move. Hell I live in Canada, and I'd be reluctant to invite a stranger into my home for this kind of thing. That being said, I'll look back fondly on many fascinating convos you had. One of the main reason I follow you Colin, is your ability to reinvent yourself, evolve your product (for the lack of a better word), and consistently raise the quality of what you offer. Am I sad to see fireside go? Yes. Am I excited to see where you take this? Even more!! Thanks for your continued openness with all the great people in this community. Lots of good things with good people here.

Daddy Dilkers

Thank you for a great series Colin. We totally understand why this can’t continue.

Ryan Hurley

I’ll jump in with many others here and reiterate that you and your family’s safety is penultimate. I totally understand but I will miss it, and I’m disappointed, not with you Colin, but with our society. I’m sorry you have to deal with all this.

Tyler R.

Any person in their right mind would have made the same decision in your shoes. I’m happy you had the guts to put your family first and not cling to it. I know this is hard for you. Don’t sweat the small stuff though as far as what others think.

Anonymous

We love you bro. Colin the 🐐.

Anonymous

No worries, Colin! Makes sense. I don't blame you at all.

Anonymous

I guess I missed my chance to maybe go on one day, lol, although I'd have to get over my anxiety. I would have loved to talk about Christian apologetics with you but while it's disappointing, it's totally understandable. We're living in something close to a soft civil war and we all need to be on guard. The hate isn't justified, we should all be figuring out how to get along as much as possible

Joe McPartlin

The candor is always appreciated, Colin. I think I speak for the majority of the audience when I say Fireside Chats will be missed but we're glad you're doing what's best for your safety.

Jason Kelley

I think you made the right call. The way people react to you is scary.

Anonymous

As everyone who commented has said I'll miss this show. Thank you for bringing these great conversation to life. I agree with the safety first thought process but would love for fireside chats to come back one day because it's my favorite show. However, knockback and sacred symbols are amazing and will always have a fan in me.

Angelique Marquez

I'm sad to see this go but I understand why it needs to be done. You and your family's safety comes first above everything else! I am looking forward to the remaining episodes and hope one day it comes back, maybe just do Skype interviews? Either way it was a great show that was very different than anything else that is out there! You will always have a fan in me no matter what you produce!

MeatSpin11

I understand the patron/stranger part, but I’d love occasional pop in shows of people you actually know (Jaffee, Rubin, etc...) or audio essays like the first few episodes. Anyway, it had an awesome run you should be proud of. Wish I could have thought of something interesting enough to be on for lol.

GentleFan

As a supporter since day 1 and a big fan of Fireside Chats, I'm bummed to see the podcast go away as its led to some eclectic, fascinating conversations. However I totally understand your safety concerns and we as your fans are grateful that you've invited us into your home for so many episodes. Is there a possibility we will get the political podcast with Jeff Cannata? I know you were considering replacing FSC with that podcast last year.

Dan Cadogan

Sad to see it go, but loved it while it lasted besides, you're no good to us dead after all. At least it will end with us wanting more

Anonymous

Sad to see the show is leaving, but I was part of the audience that didn’t listen to it all the time. Hope the show is replaced with something else, maybe a light hearted political show? Or maybe just more pop culture stuff. Regardless you sold me on patreon after announcing sacred symbols plus, can’t wait for more content - Chris

Anonymous

Fireside Chats was what led me to become a patron of CLS. I am sad it's going away but your reasoning makes sense. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. My $1 isn't going anywhere, which I'm sure is a huge relief for you :)

Anonymous

I dont listen but for the people that do enjoy couldn't you just record through Skype or something to avoid giving out personal information to strangers?

Anonymous

I have really enjoyed the conversations you’ve had on FSC. But i completely understand this decission. As you’ve said, the shows that are left are awesome.

Reuben Barrett

All good Colin, having some piece of mind and a little extra time on your hands will pay dividends with the other shows.

Anonymous

It’s sad to see it go but I fully understand your reasons, I too would struggle with risking the safety of my family, you’re doing the right thing dude. Keep up the great work. -Ryan

Kjell Dirckx

It's sad news. But your safety and the safety of your family is more important. I fully understand and support your decision. Greetings from Belgium

GameSimp

Sad to see it go, but I support you all the way. No reason to risk your life in this climate

Erik Peterson

Stay secret stay safe Colin.

Ryan T. Mandle

Like everyone else here, this announcement brings me a lot of sadness and disappointment, but it’s absolutely the right decision. Yourself and family needs to come first with safety 1st of the 1st. I continue to look forward to all your content and sincerely hope you find a way to bring Fireside Chats that doesn’t put you at risk.

Anonymous

Colin, I appreciate all the content you do and I fully support you doing what you need to keep you and your family safe. I'll still be here.

Kevin Sullivan

While Fireside Chats was always an enjoyable part of my weekly routine, I understand why you have made this decision. Ultimately, it truly is sad how many people wish to demonize you unjustly.

Kam Wallis

While I'm sad to see this news as I recently fell back in love with Fireside Chats. I can definitely understand. Just know that the outrage culture does not represent us Colin. We always have your back, just like you've proven you have ours. -Kam

That black guy

Understandable, I always mind of expected FSC to be more you solo expressing opinions and ideals similar to the namesake big I understand that'd get boring

Anthony J Sanchez

I'll gladly take Sacred symbols plus as a replacement.

Barrett Boswell

God bless you brother for making a tough call. The innovation of internet and social media has brought many great and many terrible things. Hopefully for all of us, we will look back at this time in history and laugh at how absurd people were behaving. You, your loved ones, friends, and the CLS team take care of yourselves. My Patreon money is going nowhere and will only be going up in support here in the near future. Looking forward to see what opportunities will arise for you.

Anonymous

Sad to hear as I love fireside chats, but understand and respect your rationale

Anonymous

Hate to see it go. FSC was always a breath of fresh air during the week, never knew what the topic was. Doesn't affect my support though!

nicholas

Going to go out on a limb here and assume you are just leaving the political roots of Colin's Last Stand -- it's namesake -- behind. I respect that, change is difficult but SS is the best gaming podcast on the internet. But I will keep campaigning for like a 30 minute Colin reads the headlines news show. It would be great content for people like me that have been audience members since you left KF and really connected with the original vision. Keep safe bro.

Jimmy Valentine

I completely understand Colin. I already don't trust anybody and I'm not a public figure. Hence the reason CCW.

Anonymous

Sad to hear it go. But I completely understand.

Anonymous

I understand that it must be terrifying to invite people into the safety of your home and risk something bad happening especially after the PAX fiasco. It's a loss but safety of one's family just cannot be compromised. I hope this isn't a proper 'THE END' for it and we get some one-offs with other members of your family (if they choose) and others who you can vouch for. Stay safe and keep on it. 👍

Anonymous

Probably a good call. Safety is top priority and Knockback and Sacred Symbols are both good enough to keep everyone happy.

Saulius Vekteris

Sad to hear this colin but we understand the sutuation. I'm gonna miss Fireside Chats.

David Kramme

It’s a shame but you’re doing the right thing I think, totally valid reasoning. Stay safe! Oh and btw, I’d love to see your top 5 or 10 fav episodes list, I know I’ve missed a few, the early “Sugar Daddy” episode is my personal favorite, such an interesting conversation.

Petre Cismigiu

I'm really sorry to hear this, Colin. I don't know if you remember but we talked about maybe doing an episode on "the life of a gambler" and talk about poker. As much as I would've loved that to happen, due to the fact it was really hard for me to come to the United States (really long and expensive trip), now I know that dream is over. Because it would have been an honor to meet you in person and have a friendly chat. That being said, I think you definitely made the right call. Your safety should always come first, and it's exactly like you said : "it only takes one". Much love, brother

Ross Arbour

I am gutted. This is my favourite CLS podcast.

Anonymous

This is a real shame, but I understand your decision and I think it's the best thing to do. However, I think that the show could keep on living and maybe even expand its scope if you started doing the interviews online. I know it's not the same as being in the same room with the other person, but it could be worth exploring in the future as a way to revive the show. I know this presents some technical requirements for the people being interviewed (good audio setup and a steady internet connection are the first things that come to mind) but I would even argue that it's less complicated than scheduling flights and hotels if they were going there in person. Anyway, it's just a thought. Keep up the good work.

Alex Gates

I love Fireside Chats. I really do, but I honestly was hoping you’d make this decision. I’m cautious about who I let into my home and nobody fucking knows who I am nor do I have any known “enemies” so I thought it was kinda crazy that you did the show. I’ll be excited to see one-offs maybe in the future, but I’m in full support of this decision. You and your loved one’s safety is of paramount importance. Period. Thanks for being so transparent with us patrons.

Anonymous

People suck, I don't blame you, Colin. Gotta protect yourself. <3

Anonymous

Bummer to hear. I don’t listen to every episode but some were very interesting and educational. Has there been thought of doing the show remotely? Or would that tamper to greatly with the quality?

Prince Borutski

I respect you're decision. I would certainly hesitate to invite anyone from the internet to my apartment. That being said, I'll miss it. I downloaded it weakly and saved them up to listen to in batches. I enjoyed how it was a longer form connection between you and your community. Nevertheless, I understand your decision. I am still completely satisfied with my patreon contribution.

Bobby Bell

Colin, you have such an amazing community. Unfortunately there are some crazy people out there. I am so grateful to have been a part of Fireside Chats. I totally understand your decision and will continue supporting you no matter what. Keep fuckin that chicken.

Anonymous

My wife and I will miss this series, Colin! Totally understand your decision, however. Thank you for all the great episodes!

Francis Bryan

Sad to hear but I think it's the right move. You have to look out for yourself and your family. Sorry it came to this. I just no longer understand the world we live in.

Francis Bryan

Maybe you can do a G.i.joe collecting podcast in its place? I'd love to hear in depth on how the collection is going, what deals you've found, etc. I think it could be fun. Colin's Last Stand presents: Yo Joe!

Anonymous

I’m going to be honest, this sucks but I get it. What about interviewing people you know? I would love more with Damon Hatfield, Jarred Petty, and industry peeps still in your circle. Keep doing what you do!

Stephane Leduc

I really wish people with mental health problems would get the treatment they need or be put somewhere where they wouldn't be a danger to other people. Because if we are being honest, a sane person would never do stupid shit like this to others. Only people who have minor to severe mental health issues could inflict this kind of treatment to other human beings without feeling any sort of guilt. I hate that you of all people have to deal with these sort of things because you are one of the last games journalist who really tell it like is. You call it as you see it without sugar coating it, without worrying about offending your audience, game developpers, big publishers or anybody else for that matter and that is what I love about your content. Keep doing you and fuck all these losers!

Damn super bummed to hear this. Glad there's a possibility of this continuing some time in the future. Sorry to hear all the shit you've gone through lately. Upped my long time sub from $1 to $5 in hopes that some positive can outweigh the negativity that's come lately.

I have really enjoyed Fireside Chats and am sad to see it go. I respect your reasons though and thank you for the two years worth.

Daniel Schiffer

Sorry to hear about the circumstances around this but excited to see what the future holds. Do you think you'll do legacy episodes with yourself and Erin?

Karan D

I'm guessing this means that it's too late for me to be on Fireside Chats?

I know I'm late to the party but I was without WiFi for about a week and I just saw this. As someone lucky enough to appear on the show I was honored, but I was also surprised by how much trust was clearly being placed in every guest invited. So I absolutely respect and understand your position. Fireside chats was my favorite series so I'm sad it will be gone, but I look forward to to seeing what may replace it in the future. Good luck and I hope you stay safe Colin.

I'm sure it's already been said, but couldn't it be done remotely via Skype or something? Would love for it to go continue, even with lesser quality audio

Douglas Morreale

Just do Skype or Discord calls. Its been repeated several times that users dont care so much if it is perfect crisp quality. But rather that the content shines through. It seems there are several alternative methods to continue on, but that the will to do so no longer exists.

Skype, discord, Google hangouts, tramspeak or mumble! You don't need to endanger yourself and if you don't like what the other person is doing it's easier to sort out. J respect your decision to stop the in person chats. The only way I could imagine them working in this day and age would be hiring out a space at a local recording studio or some other mutual ground, you just don't want to risk it and I respect that.

thatoneguy02

Was there ever an option to record at a sperate space?

FitzIsCoy

Colin, this is completely understandable. I must say I've only tuned in to a couple of episodes here and there, however recently I was on a road trip and binged many episodes. I loved the candidness of it all. Thank you for all your great podcasts. And, I agree, we do get our money's worth with all of your podcasts.

Colin, I have enjoyed your Fireside Sharts and I am sad to see them go. I am quite displeased at this news and would drop my tier to a lower level but alas I'm already at the $1 minimum. You win this round!
