PlayStation 4 is getting kinda jealous. After all, we've been heaping all this attention on its successor over the last couple of weeks, and it thinks we've forgotten about it. Then, to wrap things up, let's talk to the audience (that's you!) about topics ranging from playing Sekiro the really hard way and if DualShock 5 should have more buttons to Horizon's sequel and the reality of 8K gaming.

Only in the first few minutes but Colin!!! Leave the poor man chris alone, he clearly had a good weekend😂

TIL what a ‘Musou’ is... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musou

Haha putting Chris on blast! Unintentionally too, I think.

Andres

Surprised to see "Will the PS5 have a touch pad on its controller?" on the list of topics. I have lost count of how many times you guys have brought up this topic so I genuinely hope when I get around to listening the answer is simply "yes."

Jeff Caseres

LMAO Colins “wait a minute” moment was hilarious

Justin Marxer

It was serendipitous that the episode a couple weeks back was delayed because of the PS5. Couldn't extend that concession this week for the drop of the Sonic movie trailer? For the love of god I hope you two tear this trailer apart next episode....

James Galos

8k gaming... I was just finally able to afford a good 4K tv for my bedroom. Guess I’ll starts saving for the $600 PS5 and another $1k for a TV

in defense of P5's length, which I know is a contentious thing for even fans of the series, the one thing Persona games have in their favor is a slew of mechanical hooks that as a whole can make for a pretty addicting experience for people who enjoy choice-based management in their games. While I will say the game has some story stretches that can get a little long in the tooth, no JRPG's mechanics have gotten me engaged like Persona's. Far too often JRPGs try to stand on their combat and story alone, and I usually start checking out after repetition and underwhelming storytelling fail to keep me interested. But something about managing limited time and watching your story decisions impact the combat experience is hugely addicting, and it only helps that P5's rhythmic combat is snappy, characters are well developed, and style oozes out of every corner. From the outset any game with a 100 hour price tag sounds unappealing, but thanks to its hooks by the end I was sad to not have more.

Game Freak had a game on Playstation before, it was called "Tembo the Badass Elephant" and I'll never forget that title, for better or for worse.

Russell Garrett

Just a quick aside from what might be deemed a more throwaway comment in this episode. But I’m really glad you seem to finding a balance with your workload and mental health. I want you to succeed, but I don’t want you to be unhappy in doing so. Keep striving for that balance Colin!

Elias Salcedo

Mortal Kombat has been disrespectful for a long time on how long it takes to complete the game for example MK9 takes 350 hours to platinum

LastStandMedia

That's kind of a misnomer, to be fair. The question really asks, now that we know about backwards compatibility for sure, doesn't that suggest that PS5's controller must have a touchpad? =)

LastStandMedia

That's perfectly fair. I mean, there's no shame in packing a game full of quality content, and clearly, Persona is quality. People love it. I just don't have the desire to spend that much time with a game anymore. Or, at the very least, it's rare.

Craig Carter

Astro makes that PS4 “elite controller” you guys were talking about

Anyone having issues with the pod coming up on castbox?

Anonymous

I've been having issues with the RSS feed loading on Podcast Addict for Android, anybody else have this issue? Just started last week

LastStandMedia

Yes. Are you by chance an Apple user? Apple changed something that broke the RSS links for some reason on Patreon. What you have to do is go to the front page of CLS' Patreon and grab the RSS link in the upper right corner (make sure you're on a browser). That should work for you. Thank you for your patience!

LastStandMedia

All of the problems I've heard recently are for/from Apple. I'm sorry you're experiencing this. To fix it, grab the RSS link from the front page of CLS' Patreon (on a browser). That should fix it. In the meantime, I'll let Patreon know this is happening, as -- unfortunately -- it's out of my hands. Thank you!

Real Radec

For the Square Enix E3 discussion, I think FVII showing up is not out of the realm of possibility due there being an official FFVII concert in LA a day before their E3 conference. They've pulled this off before in 2o17 with KH3 where they had a concert that showed a new trailer so I'd say it's likely we'll see something at least this year for the remake

Kenneth Oms

Make tuesdays great again! Chris May or may not have a hicky

Marcus Brown

What a start! Hahah scar on the neck🤣🤣🤣This is gold

Richard Duflo

Some of the encounter music in Days Gone gives me Last of Us music vibes. I believe it was music from the multiplayer. The low, but intense music that kicks in as you approach in stealth is very similar imo Didn’t quite get Borderlands feel from it. I just played (and got the plat) for the Borderlands remaster, so it’s fresh in my mind. But that’s just me

Daniel Schiffer

On a bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo. Filming some of it as I listen to this podcast. And as you were discussing PS4 sales I passed a large distribution warehouse with SONY on it o.O

Alex Castellanos

Colin, I don't own MK11 so forgive me f I'm adding to the confusion, but from what I've heard from MK diehards is that there isn't a way to purchase what was needed in the crypt. In other words, the only choice was to play for 10s of hours for the chance at rewards. There is no option to simply buy what you want to own.

The Chicken Chaser

I feel like such an idiot, I still pronounce Geoff as G-off and I’m 26. Colin, you’ve opened my eyes to a whole new world.

Hey Colin, when you were talking about other games to do dedicated pod/spoilercasts on you dismissed Sekiro because you weren't able to play it yet... but so what? If it is a game you care to target then I would be more than happy to hear you and Chris do a dedicated pod even if you dont get a chance to finish the game for a while. To me, its not that important when you release the content (for instance I still have the RDR2 cast on standby) but that the content is out there. For instance you guys could do a DOOM spoilercast today (if we thought there was enough content to justify it) and I would be happy to listen to it. Anyway just my thoughts, keep up the great shows

Brandon Soto

Praying the DualShock 5 has better, non-slippery analog sticks similar to Xbone’s, better battery, and an Elite-style controller/customization. Don’t mind the touch-pad like most people.

Eric S

Just ordered a slate colored Knockback shirt! Looking forward to getting it really like all the color choices and all the different shows available to order.

Trent Miller

I’m glad Chris had a good weekend 😂🤣😂

The Days Gone bugs are surprisinging to me. Remember when the game was delayed with them citing that they only wanted to get it out of a busy time. That was clearly a lie. Its obvious now the game was no where close to being ready considering it wasn't even ready when it just released.

NeO JD

Salute to Chris and his good times. 😄 Colin, you’re missing out on both Persona 5 and the Marvel movies. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lucas Gremista

"did you always have that scar on your neck?" Colin just pointing out Chris is into BDSM. lol

John Lynch

Colin I’ve got to say you hit the nail on the head with crunch. I work doubles almost every day 5 days a week and that puts me at between 70 and 80 hours depending if the extra shift was 6 or 8 hours. 14 hours 7 days a week would put you just under 100 these people most certainly are talking about maybe one pay period they worked that or someone else did, and then taking that outlier and making it seem as if it’s the norm.

John Lynch

Hey guys love the episode as usual. So listening to the show, you guys discussed a bit about days gone launching to early before it was patched. What makes it even more mind boggling to me, is that the game went gold about a month and a half before launch. Blows my mind that it had to have 6 patches that soon. I’d have thought the day one patch would have been enough

LastStandMedia

It would be unwise for us to focus on older games for projects like that. We're happy to talk about whatever on the core show, but truth be told, we actually do the Spoilercasts at a financial loss. So I'd rather just do them for games people are interested in closest to the time of publish. Hope that makes sense!

LastStandMedia

The touchpad really started getting on my nerves in Days Gone, 'cause I kept accidentally brushing it.

LastStandMedia

Yeah, something's up there, though I do believe that they wanted to dodge other games, too. Best of both worlds, as it were.

LastStandMedia

Yeah, it's just insane that anyone actually believes people in the games industry are working these regular 100 hour weeks (or ever one time getting anywhere close to 100 hours weeks). People don't think about what they're actually saying. They just parrot shit. I work 60 hour weeks regularly. Add ANOTHER REGULAR WORK WEEK ONTO THAT, and it's 100 hours. Absurd.

DB Cooper

All the crunch talk has me rolling my eyes. We have a ton of crunch in my studio (Film Industry) and go through the same style of rush to hit deadlines like developers and we always flippantly say "damn I worked 100 hours last week" but everyone knows that's not true. I've hit 70, sure, but 100 is soooo much more. Can't imagine being on the receiving end of a shit storm of people actually taking that serious. Also, yours and Chris's rapport has gotten insanely good and entertaining, keep killing it (and those babies)!

Ross Tarren

Got hit with something devastating in Apex myself. Finally finished the grind to Level 50 and for the first time ever I'm disconnected because of network lag. The game still gives you EXP for matches you disconnect from but I didn't get the level up screen nor the silver trophy for getting there. Even worse, the trophy doesn't trigger for levels beyond 50 (which I call a little sloppy) so I'm locked out for good :/ It's the first multiplayer I've dug in a while honestly. Hopefully that's a fix they have planned for the future?

Koray Savas

VA-11 HALL-A did come out on Vita a year or so ago. It’s a great little visual novel worth playing. Platinum is fairly attainable as well. You should definitely check it out.

LastStandMedia

Yeah, it's nuts. I'm not saying someone didn't work a 100 hour one time or something, but to act like that's a regular thing you did for weeks or months at a time is absurd.

LastStandMedia

Dude, that sucks. You should look into that, because there are games that have fixed broken Trophies like this by basically pinging the Trophy as long as you have a certain indicator whenever you do a certain thing. (In other words, every time you'd log in [as an example], the game would see if you were Level 50 and offer you the Trophy if you've not yet gotten it.)

MostlyCharlie

Just dropping in to say that I’m really liking Days Gone and I can’t wait to hear your review discussion with Chris.

Brett Carlson

Games have never been better. This idea that games are ALWAYS releasing broken is a croc of shit. Do people not understand that previously if a game launched broken it was broken forever. There were no patches to save it. Games are also doing more then they ever have technically and there is no way a studio can ever get every single bug out before launch because with millions of people playing someone is bound to find or have a glitch happen. People are conflating EA, Activision and Games as a Service as "the games industry". Most games release with very few technical hiccups. I bought Days Gone on launch night and had zero if the issues reviewers had with the pre launch version. I played and beat Rogue Warrior starring Mickey Rourke. That game is a legitimate 2/10. There are not many AA or AAA games getting 2s anymore if any. We live in a world were a 75 metacritic score is considered bad by the population. That's how spoiled people are. Literally calling a 7.5 trash. It Sonys worst 1st party game is Days Gone, I would say we are in pretty good fucking shape.

LastStandMedia

I'm not sure I agree that a game couldn't be launched without a patch. Games DO launch without being patched (per your point, kinda), but to say that enough time couldn't have been put into, say, Days Gone to make sure it runs right without five patches (BEFORE LAUNCH!) doesn't jive with reality, from my perspective. It's great that games can be fixed, and they should be. But they shouldn't be launching in the condition they're in, and that's worth talking about.
