For a podcast about all about nostalgia, we'd be crazy to skip the so-called Holiday Season, the section of the annual calendar perhaps most rife with memories. Today's episode of KnockBack is dedicated to Christmastime (or whatever you might celebrate), and all of the amazing remembrances of festive times past. Presents. Family. Food. Togetherness. And that time Colin knocked down the tree, and claimed he had nothing to do with it. So let's explore all of the grand memories this time of year gives us (and some painful recollections, too). And if there's time, we'll get to an Airing of Grievances, too.

My number 1 holiday memory is my sister and I unwrapping a PS2 for Christmas. Best give ever

Craig Carter

Considering I’ve been following you for like 10 years I’m all about the sacred Moriarty lore, plead regale is with any and all tales

Brandon Soto

Pretty much every game console I owned was given on Christmas or a birthday up until the Wii. I’m 25 now, so it kinda sucks those times are now gone. But then again, Christmas & birthdays are every 2 weeks now.

Luke Bernhard

Does anyone else low key play all of Sinatra's Christmas hits on bar jukeboxes and at parties throughout December?

Thanks for another great episode! Merry christmas!

Jimmy Champane

This was a great episode guys. I was going to save it for my flight back to Michigan tonight but I caved on my way to work. I laughed way too hard at Colin saying "I'm no fool." when Dagan said he was the only planned baby in the Moriarty clan.

I'm telling you: There's an inverse relationship between age and relevance when it comes to this time of year. Also, age and how much money you end up spending.

Trent Miller

One of my favorite episodes of KnockBack so far. So good!

James O'Donnell

So excited for this episode. Colin and Dagan, Merry Christmas to you and yours from Ireland. Here's to another great year of CLS!

Nate McKinney

I'm 32 years old and I STILL don't like the white lights. Fuck those things. Colored lights all the way

I can relate to the adverse feeling for Christmas. I loved it as a kid. But now that I'm older, it's tough. My grandpa was a huge part of Christmas in my youth. Memories of decorating the tree with him have always been some of my favorite. But as I got older I found out he wasn't necessarily a great guy (like a really not great guy) and in a way it kind of tainted the experience for me. He passed away a few years ago, I haven't decorated a tree for Christmas since. It's difficult to separate and reconcile those feelings. But I hope you and the family have a great Christmas, Colin!

You guys have never been more wrong..... A Christmas Story is literally the greatest Christmas movie ever.... 😂😂😂😂

Russell Garrett

I was nearly pissing myself laughing when you were talking about your parents going "Hog Wild". Normally I wouldn't mind but I started a new job a couple of weeks back and I was definatly getting some wierd looks. But fuck it, it was worth it. Happy Christmas!

Joey Finelli

My greatest surprise is when i got PlayStation 1 in 1996. never thought i was going to get it and it was the best day ever!

So I'm riding the Warsaw Metro to work and I hear the story of Dad 'spicing things up' with that 80s flavour and I burst out laughing. In Poland you don't show emotions in public places so people look at me as if I'm a lunatic but I'm laughing even now as I write these words because that is the most hilarious shit I've heard 😂

This time of year is loaded for so many people, for so many reasons. It's tough. I likewise hope you and yours have a good holiday season, too.

I laughed out loud SO many times listening to this and on the flip side - I’m sorry that our divorce caused so much pain for everyone, especially you, Col. If I could take it back or make it different and pain free I sure would. Never meant to hurt you. And I let you watch a soap opera where a man was buried alive? That even freaks me out to think about. I must have been very into folding the laundry because I don’t recall that at all! 😳

Brady Bosuego

I completely agree with your Christmas Story opinions. So overrated!! Home Alone 1 and 2 are so much better. The brick scene kills me every time😂Thanks for the great podcast!!

This episode is everything I wanted it to be and more. The ‘Moriarty Lore’ continues to grow, and I can’t wait for your mom and dad’s respective episodes. You guys always cover interesting topics, but when it comes to the family, you guys deliver laughs galore. The holidays are tough for me as well, Colin, so I hear you loud and clear when it comes a normally happy time of year feeling the exact opposite. But that’s a story for another time. Thanks again, and I hope all of the Moriarty family (and extended family!) have a merry Christmas.

Ian (616Entertainment)

Also, tell Dagan to let the fucking kids play video games, man. =)

LastStandMedia

It was a long time ago, now. It is what it is! And yeah, you were folding laundry on the couch in the old house. On the TV was a soap opera where a dude was being buried alive. It stuck with me forever. LOL.

LastStandMedia

Hopefully it doesn't kill you literally, like it seemingly literally almost killed The Wet Bandits.

LastStandMedia

Thank you! I'm sad to say that I fucked up the audio in the episode we recorded with my dad. My dad and I sound fine; Dagan was accidentally being picked up off of the on-board mic. Sounds like shit. I'm gonna try to fix it as best I can and release it in January as the Patreon exclusive.

Matthew Perry

Hoping to make this Christmas an extraordinary special one as going to propose to my girlfriend, she gets back from Spain on the 14th of January and I intend to do the deed when she steps of the train :-)

Ian (616Entertainment)

Even if you don't fix it, I don't think any of us will care. That one CANNOT get lost to the ages! Looking forward to it either way, my dude.

Jonathan Broussard

Just what I needed, a great holiday podcast listen to while I finish preparing things for tomorrow. Also having to cook homemade cookies for Santa and my family. Merry Christmas to you both and your families!

Cole Britt

Nintendo 64-1996. Wow. I couldn’t remember how to beat the big bomb omb on the first stage. Called my cousin and he walked me through it. The past few years my “Christmas sweater” is a black N64 hoodie. I was 11 and that year was magical

Tyson Williams

“That’s not a bad CATCH. Ya get it? HO HO HOOO” I don’t know why that laugh gets me every time lol
