The Sadistic Design of Ninja Gaiden -- CLS Let's Play

I've always loved and adored Ninja Gaiden on NES. Its gameplay is near-perfect, and its story -- particularly in how it's delivered and in its depth -- is a couple of decades ahead of its time. Ninja Gaiden is probably best known for being outrageously hard, though, so today's CLS Let's Play is dedicated to appreciating this Tecmo classic's clever design, particularly when it comes to balancing risk and reward. All footage was captured by CLS on an NES Classic (720p60). Phenomenal Choice! I can imagine you cruised through 3/4 of the game through muscle memory and then hit the cruel final stages.

I wish all you did were podcasts and let’s plays. You’re very entertaining with your meltdowns trying to talk and okay at the same time

This game truly did separate the men from the boys back in the day. I can remember many nights grinding the same stages over and over 😂. Another solid Let's Play.

Man this (and honestly NG2 more so) was my jam. I could probably get to the end boss in the first sitting even today. Such muscle memory cannot be removed from my brain. Mastering jump-backward-slash, and single wall jump is still my greatest gaming accomplishment. LOL

any thought of doing these on Twitch so you could get some twitch subs

It's so odd that I was good at this game but sucked at Castlevania.

I remember when I was younger I had a friend that would call the facility stage in GoldenEye64 “the faculty”

You can actually play this on Switch now they just added it to the online service.

Not gonna lie, I was that kid. I also called the pokemon Caterpie "Carpetie".

Colin, Rondo of Blood is kicking my ass. These old school games are unforgiving. I have a lot of respect for your gaming chops; keep up the awesome work, I love these let's plays.
