Don't reinvent the wheel.
Not only is Mega Man 11 the first new, so-called “Classic” Mega Man game in nearly a decade. It's also the first mainline Mega Man game Capcom developed internally in a staggering 22 years. So, needless to say, it’s been awhile. Mega Man 11 has all the trappings of vintage Blue Bomber adventures, from a roster of devious Robot Masters to a selfless, robotic protagonist working on behalf of his kind-hearted creator. But some of Mega Man 11’s new design philosophies -- particularly its ill-conceived Double Gear System -- immediately differentiate it from the games that came before it, and not necessarily in a good way. It’s great to have Mega Man back in action. I just don’t think Capcom needed to reinvent the wheel. All footage in this video review was captured by CLS off of a PS4 Pro.
