Hi!

When Dagan and I convened this past week to record a bunch of new episodes of KnockBack (10 of them, in fact, which will begin rolling out for $5+/month Patrons tomorrow!), I said we'd also endeavor to do some Let's Plays.

Well, record some Let's Plays we did.

This is the very first one, a full playthrough of the game Jackal on NES. Each Let's Play is somehow associated with a previous or upcoming episode of KnockBack, so expect more relevant Let's Plays that tie together nicely with the content of the podcasts.

We were only able to record five, and I'm not positive how I'm going to post them, whether every week until I'm out, every other week to preserve them until Dagan and I can record more, or supplement them with some Let's Plays that I can record on my own, whether KnockBack-related or otherwise (for instance, Erin has expressed an interest in doing some LPs with me). What I can say is that each LP will be here a week early for $5+/month Patrons, so if you're seeing this, that's you! After a week, I'll throw 'em on Side Quest's YouTube channel for public consumption.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy what we're trying to do here. Feedback, as always, is welcome. <3

Going Back to Vietnam in Jackal (NES) -- CLS KnockBack Let's Play

What could possibly be more fun than reliving one of the most gruesome and blunder-ridden conflicts in American history? In Jackal on NES, it's all about you, a jeep, some ordnance, POWs, and a whole lot of revenge.

Great to see you and Dagan get to play the games you talk about so prominently in Knockback. Cant wait for more!

Hi guuuuuuuuuys. I grew up playing Jackal with my grandfather every Sunday after church. My grandparents had an NES with games like Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2, Duck Hunt, Golf, the usual suspects, but they also had a few rad arcade-style games like Jackal and Life Force. It's awesome to see Jackal featured as your first Let's Play!

Colin, LP's with Erin are the best idea. In addition to co-op games, I'd love to see the interaction with you guys as she plays old school single player games and you provide commentary. As a personal aside, trying to play A Link to the Past on SNES with a former gf, convinced me that we were better off as friends, and the gf/bf dynamic between us would never work.

Awesome...great little bday present!!!

Haha this was great to watch. I’ve never heard of this game but it looks very entertaining. All hail Lt. Bob, the king of the north facing machine gun!

This is so exciting!! Hope you continue to do lots more! With different people would be very interesting, like Erin. How about Jared Petty? You two nerding out would be amazing. Though the distance makes that difficult.

Been noticing it more as this series has gone on. Dagan seems like the chillest guy. Like you listen to him and he's just very relaxed all the time. Easy listening - Good stuff boys.

I live this. The idea of you guys getting together to record some Let’s Plays is the best. Thanks Colin

NES Lets Plays, awesome! Thanks! Is there anyway to download the video from Vimeo?

This was great man. Doing a Let’s Play of an old game with your brother adds an intriguing dimension to it which gives it that wee personal touch. Thanks.

Great game to start this series with. My brother and I played the hell out of this game.

This was awesome! You and Dagan are so great together, I was laughing just because the two of you were. Loved the game when I was a kid so the nostalgia was strong, can't wait to see what you have next!

what do you guys use to capture content from a NES? Just recently got into retrogaming and was wondering this the other day.
