The Great Colin's Last Stand $5,000 (For School Books) Giveaway!

CLS is giving away up to $500 each to 10 history and/or political science majors (up to $5,000 total) to pay for this (or last) semester's books. Why? Because I want to show appreciation for a new generation of history and polisci scholars, who will play an important role in helping us understand both our past and present in the years to come. The video explains how to enter, and the contest's rules are below. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! -Colin ---------- For the full rules and to learn more about how to enter, please click the link below: https://pastebin.com/AM0k2C2k To be entered, send a video no longer than two (2) minutes in length or shorter to clscollegebookscontest@gmail.com in the generally used format of your choice. Tell me who you are, what you're studying and where, why you love what you study, and what being reimbursed for your books for a semester would mean to you. It doesn't matter where you attend school (as long as it's collegiate and that you can accept USD), it doesn't matter if you're undergrad, graduate, or PhD, it doesn't matter what your political affiliation is, it doesn't matter if you're a CLS fan, and it doesn't matter if you even like me or know who I am. All that matters is that you're studying either history or political science. This is only for those two majors. Entrants must reside in the U.S. Ten individuals will be selected to win up to $500 worth of schoolbooks per individual. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. BEING A SUBSCRIBER OF COLIN’S LAST STAND (“SPONSOR”) IS NOT REQUIRED AND WILL NOT INCREASE CHANCES OF WINNING. Enter between 9am Pacific Time November 17, 2017 and 11:59:59pm Pacific November 23, 2017 by submitting a video of less than two (2) minutes to clscollegebookscontest@gmail.com and describing who you are, what you are studying and where, why you love what you study, and what being reimbursed for your books for a semester would mean to you. Judging occurs: November 24, 2017-December 01, 2017. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received. BY PARTICIPATING, YOU AGREE TO THE GOVERNING OFFICIAL RULES, available at https://pastebin.com/AM0k2C2k. Ten winners will receive: reimbursement for purchased schoolbooks, up to five hundred dollars ($500) per winner. Winners must show proof of schoolbook purchase suitable to Sponsor. This is a really great, generous idea! I'm curious: would you consider similar fields, such as public policy? I know at my school at least the pub pol kids had a much more impressive workload than the poly sci kids, not to talk down to poly sci majors overall.

You’re such a good guy, Colin. I’m so proud to be someone that helps keep your venture going.

Great idea. The price of books is no joke. Even digital school books are bonkers. Shout out to all my ECON majors.

Cameron Paterson

This is so nice of you to do Colin 🖒🖒.

Owen

Glad to see my money going back to some deserving people. Good on you brotha. Shared the video around.

Nice!

This is so generous of you Colin.

Bravo! What a wonderful way to give back, bud! I remember the exorbitant cost of your books each semester - there was always a huge stack of 'em. I love this idea! 👏🏻👍🏻😘📚📓❤️

Peter Campbell

Great idea. I remember books costs crippling everyone at University.

Computer Science students just download all our books as .epub files.

Jeff Pollard

Way to go, Colin!! Awesome thing you are doing!!

Mario Miranda

This is a great thing you're doing here Colin, you in no way had to do something like this. I was already happy with the content your provide and have not regretted my patreon support and now even less so. I'm glad that our contribution to you not only helps you out but also some kids out there.

Very cool. :)

Awesome of you to do this. I'm working on my MBA, but thankfully work is paying for most of it! Any thoughts of maybe adding a tier so your supporters could directly contribute to something like this in the future?

Nicholas Swanson

Good on you Colin. Pretty awesome of you. Books are really expensive. While I'm an engineering major, I think it's good you chose PoliSci and History majors. I believe you've said before there aren't many prospects for history majors unless it's in teaching. Whatever help they can get is great.

Jason

What a awesome idea, good luck to those awesome students

Smokey Joh

Im not in the running, but I'd just like to say that this is an amazing idea and hugely thoughtful. Sometimes I think that some of the bigger patreons gain too much money from ad revenue, baked in product placement on top of the patreon supporters and it feels a bit greedy. You however, have recognised that you are doing well and want to give back to your community in a meaningful way. Bravo Colin.

We'll see what happens next year! The reason I wanted to keep it limited was to keep it topical, and to keep the entries to a reasonable number so I can do this right.

LastStandMedia

Perhaps! There are a lot of logistics and legal hurdles to doing something like this, so I needed to start small and manageable. Next year this time, we'll reapproach and see what we can do.

LastStandMedia

Thanks! I've made a lot of money this year, truth be told, and I can very easily do something nice for someone else. So that's what I'm doing.

Smokey Joh

Fucking awesome man. Good to see you doing so well and giving back.
