North Korea: A Problem With No Solution -- Colin's Last Stand (Episode 41)

North Korea’s decades-long game of brinkmanship with the United States and its Asian allies is perhaps the world’s biggest international relations conundrum. Run by a nuclear-armed madman, and in close proximity to multiple targets it could obliterate, North Korea gets away with its behavior because there are simply no good solutions in dealing with them. Why? China, Japan, and South Korea, for starters. Colin's Last Stand is free of baked-in ads, product placement, and other obnoxious forms of advertising because of your support. Terrific video and great follow-up to Earlier north Korean episode. I enjoyed how straight-forward it was, explaining the situation then the complications, of why its a political cul-de-sac. Like many political problems, it seems that this one will continue to go on and on throughout our lifetimes.

Another great video.

Really good! Can't wait for my Iran video next ;)

Colin great video! The only point of contention I had is that China is now pronounced "Gina" or the sometimes appropriate "Gyyyyyyyyyyyna" 😂😂😂

BettyAnn Moriarty

Great video. They always help me gain knowledge as well as keep things in perspective

Excellent video - rich with geopolitical constraints to handling the situation and very informative. Recommend Escape from Camp 14 - a biography of a North Korean refugee born in one of the many prison camps in NK. Quick read and highlights some of that brainwashing and hermit kingdom culture CLS mentioned.

Awesome episode Colin! Sound and video improvements have worked out great, can't wait for the merch and the podcasts! You are returning awesome value for your patrons, keep up the great work!

This might be my favorite episode yet! Answering one, simple, specific question from a number of angles made for an incredibly clear and informative video. Colin continues to be one of the greatest teachers I've ever had.

That dudes haircut has really taken off here in the US.

North Korea is fascinating. There truly doesn't seem to be an answer to the situation that doesn't end up in catastrophe. Do you have any opinions or ideas on how to deal with it? I get that China, for many reasons, keeps them a float but North Korea's ever escalating fuckery has also be nerve racking to China as well, right? What about Chinas reputation and honor as well? Like in any relationship the other parties actions speak loudly on you as well. Or they just don't care? I don't know. Thanks for another great episode Colin, have a great weekend.

Thank you. That means a lot to me. That's what I want people to feel like here: That they get value.

I fear that we're ultimately going to have to bite the bullet and attack them, possibly when the CIA gets official word that their ICBMs can reach the west coast. And then we'll see where the chips fall. It's not gonna be good.

I feel like with the North Korea situation continuing to unfold, it would be interesting for you to make a CLS video on what would happen AFTER we (US and Allies) take them down. What would the recovery look like?

Lou & Rei Loper

I agree, he is by FAAAAR the best history, political science, and current events teacher I've ever had. Amazing video as usual. I'm so incredibly glad that you're still out here sharing the knowledge. I've always hated politics and especially history, but as I've always thought.....anyone can learn and love anything if they have the right teacher. You've got a 37 year old (allegedly lol) student that's hungry for more. Thank you.
