Hey!

The attached video is a brief, five minute update on what's going on here on Patreon, specifically in regard to the "podcast idea" I announced a few weeks ago. I wanted to discuss how close (or far) we are from the podcast becoming a reality, and to let you know what the schedule will be for content moving forward, should the podcast become a reality (whether temporarily or permanently).

Will the podcast happen? That's entirely up to all of you! But of course, whether or not you support CLS here on Patreon, you are an appreciated and valued member of this community. And even if the podcast doesn't become a reality, nothing else changes.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Thank you for your time! -Colin

Colin's Last Stand: Podcast/Patreon Update (August 25, 2017)

If we can get to (and sustain) 5,000+ subscribers on CLS' Patreon, a weekly, shortform podcast will join the Colin's Last Stand roster of shows. More information in the video!

Hopefully it will happen. I'm sure it will be a great success Colin. 😁

Really looking forward to this. I hope it works out.

Really looking forward to the podcast, Colin! (and hopefully some video game discussions every now and then :D)

Cameron Paterson

The Podcast sounds like it's going to be awesome.

Not sure how I feel about the 5000 patron gate for the podcast. I hope it happens.

Misty

Was it the Charlottesville's episode that dropped us below 5000?

LastStandMedia

It'll prove there's an audience, and it'll convince me to add even more hours to my already insane work schedule. I think it's fair.

Sounds great! I'm curious what the name of the show will be.

Anonymous

That is way better than anything I was thinking.

BettyAnn Moriarty

I'd love this to happen. Fingers crossed. And...ah, a flamingo! Oh yeah! Memories... 😘❤️😉

Sounds awesome! Really hoping it all comes together.

I have a feeling that the idea of requiring 5,000 patrons every month will end up losing subs to you. A lot of people probably subscribed again when you announced the podcast. If the goal isn't reached and no podcasts come out then the people who came for the podcast will just leave for good. People like consistency. Your fans, including myself, look forward to seeing a video come out every Monday and Thursday. How many faithful fans would you still have though if there was the threat of no videos even coming out if not enough subscribers paid for it? Posting this video to Patreon is also kind of preaching to the choir, it should be on YouTube. The work you put into your videos is incredible. The prospect of doing the podcast probably feels like stretching yourself too thin and I get that. I love you and everything you do. That's just my two cents on the matter.

Well said.

Audio only version of the podcast? So we won't get to "see" you talk?

Jeremy Echols

Seems like I share the same quibble with everyone else, which is the 5000 subs mark. God knows how much I want a Colin M podcast, but I'm already subbed - not much else I personally can do to help. I think that, if we were shooting for a dollar amount, that would be a more realistic ask, as I would be willing to bump my pledge up a notch or so to get us closer to our goal. I can (and do) share your vids with my ppl, but I don't have any control over whether any of them sub or not. At least, with a monetary goal, I could help more than I am now, you know?

LastStandMedia

I appreciate your feedback! Like I said, nothing will change for the video output, regardless of if we hit the goal. I've been consistent. I've done 39 episodes of the show since April 3rd, produced, researched, written, edited, and posted by myself. So yeah, you have a point, but the goal is what I set it to, and hopefully, we'll get to it.

LastStandMedia

Well, I didn't go with the dollar amount because I don't want people stressing that. The idea of going by sub count was to remove that barrier of entry, and to make everyone "even," as it were. Whether you give $1, or $5, or $10, or whatever, you're all contributing to the end goal. As usual, I cannot win, but I felt it was a nice idea, nonetheless. We'll see what the response is, and if the show becomes a reality or not. I'm always open to changing things, but I don't really see a better solution. Thank you for your feedback!

Less content, less stress > More content, more stress. I won't say I'm speaking for anyone else, but I can imagine many of the folks on Patreon are here for a marathon, not a spring. Would hate to see you spread too thin across too much content. That said, random topic podcast YES please!!

Dan117

Fair enough. We appreciate the hard work you already do Colin.

crispyn64

Why a measure of patrons? Doesn't seem at all fair to people that want this and have the money to support it. A monthly dollar amount goal just makes more sense to me.

Chris Johan

This is great to hear. I have missed your music input.

Brian Fagan

The content has been great, keep up the good work.

Tom

Voting with my wallet and now a proud CLS patron. Keep fighting the good fight Colin, can't wait to see what you come up with next!!

Hi Colin. I appreciate the open discussion of this idea. Personally I'd like to see (or in this case, hear) you put out a podcast whenever you are able, regardless of hitting a 5k patron threshold. The threshold seems a bit odd to me because it is not like going from 4,999 to 5,000 will really afford you more time to be able to do it - as from the sound of things it seems you're already flat-out making the content you've proven to deliver on a regular basis, as well as engaging with the community. And as you've said over and over again it's not really about the money, so why connect back to that for this?

Been a patron since day one. This is the best thing on the internet at the moment, and more of it can not hurt. My wife was introduced to you through Kinda Funny, as I have followed you for a decade, but she didn't care about the games. Keep doing what you are doing. As a current member of the Military (11 years in the Infantry), this channel gives me fuel for discussion, and helps me teach new guys some life lessons that they lack now days due to the liberal slant they have all be forced to take in since enlisting. You have helped me change opinions for the betterment of many new and young men. Keep it up Colin. My patronage is not going anywhere.

Jeremy Echols

Thanks for providing some rationale, it makes sense. Like I said, more of a quibble than anything. I just really wanna see this podcast happen. I love the focused nature of CLS and I definitely feel more educated from it, but I would also love to hear musings on random topics as well (games, music, etc). Either way, keep on teaching, Colin!

Anthony Wright

A podcast once a week would be amazing. I support at a higher level, and will always do so as long as your work is available!
