Please welcome legendary games writer, designer, and director Ken Levine to our show. Today, Ken joins me (Colin) almost a year after our last conversation on Sacred+, and now that his upcoming title Judas has been more thoroughly shown-off to the world following its announcement back in '22, he's able to chat more openly. Obviously, we focus quite a bit on Judas itself, and all that surrounds it -- "narrative LEGO" and generation ships and the like -- but we also get into a variety of other topics: The modern games industry, the potential of AI, the price and length of games, the cost of outspokenness, and more. Do enjoy.

He’s totally lying about the lack of a connection to Bioshock. Totally!! The way he pontificates to defend how much it’s not related…

Interviews like this make this the best Patreon sub in games media. These are 2 really smart dudes here. Ken being a fellow Jersey boy makes sense, we're pretty cool.

Great conversation but good lord on the rebirth talk. Ken nailed it, " if it's fun you are willing to play more".... paraphrasing... You are losing interest so mainline it. I wanted more and more so I did everything cuz it kept being fun for me.

Great interview. Thanks.

I really enjoyed this interview! Colin and Ken got into some very interesting conversations. I especially liked how Colin brought up his arguments regarding AI and game length. After hearing him make these arguments in past podcasts, it was interesting to hear him bring it up to an actual game developer, and a highly esteemed one at that.
