The Star Wars Episode | Constellation, Episode 70

This week's Constellation whisks us to a galaxy far, far away to talk about all things Star Wars. Once all wings report in, Commander Gene leads the squadron in a discussion about Star Wars video games, from the earliest titles to the most recent entries. With countless games released over the course of five decades, which Star Wars titles are the most fun, the most difficult and the most forgettable. Vice-Admiral Brad wants to get a few things off his chest concerning the Star Wars 'Special Edition' films. The 1997 rereleases of the original three Star Wars movies is a divisive topic, and Brad and company shoot first with some real talk about messing with perfection. Grand Moff Colin picks our brains about the man who started it all, George Lucas. Is the inventor of Star Wars a wizard or just a crazy old man? Finally, Darth Dagster shares his plan for how the Star Wars films should have gone after 1983's Return of the Jedi. He may finally get the chance to run the show over at Lucasfilm after this one. As a kid I liked the ps1 games based on the films.

Also the Star Wars fighting games.

Brad’s George slander is so cathartic, I love it.

I haven't finished the episode yet, but The Last Jedi is by far the worst Star Wars film because of what it did to the cannon. It is solely responsible for what JJ did in The Rise of Skywalker. TLJ is so bad, I am not sure I've seen a worse movie in terms of impact.

George Lucas had his wife help on the OG trilogy and then they got divorced sometime after. Maybe she was a bigger help than we thought. Also George only WROTE the first of the trilogy script wise. He's fine coming up with general story stuff but not scripting and editing.

Jedi Outcast was the best game. Two of the essentials it got right. -Force powers -Lightsaber battles. The fact that no game has come close to really capturing the awesome feel of lightsaber battles like in outcast is beyond me. Especially MP lightsaber battles...saber clashing was so sick.

Any idea where the photo can be found online of the special effects crew watching The Phantom Menace in the screening room, and their confused expressions? I’ve looked but can’t find it.

It's kind of harsh to call Lucas some clown who got lucky. He was a visionary ahead of his time with his world building and idea of the force as a quasi religion

Loved Star Wars and played many of the games but Disney ruined it. I even can tolerate the prequels but how they fucked over all our beloved hero’s killed my love. Luke would never just not give a fuck. Such a waste of where it could have gone.

Everyone in these corporations want to use all their budget and more if they can. They obviously don't see it as their own personal money so they don't mind the cost. They want that spending budget to be bigger every year so of course you gotta prove that the previous year wasn't enough. Obviously there are exceptions to this like bonuses are given when coming under budget and other things but generally people is positions are doing everything to spend the budget.
