Enjoy our coverage of the Uhuru Solidarity March on the streets of Oakland, California. Our correspondent for this segment is our masked friend Sidam, a.k.a. 'Polo Cutty', who was previously a guest on the 'Brake Check Podcast,'  a podcast which unfortunately, like the All Gas No Brakes show, was forfeited to Doing Things Media as Andrew broke free from his 360 management contract. However, the bond between Sidam and the 5ive remains strong.

At the time of the Uhuru Solidarity March, Andrew was at the Antivax Rally in Hollywood, traversing the walk of fame with our favorite Trumper, Kelly J. Patriot (and his four-banger), where Andrew competed in his first ever reporter-on-reporter showdown with MAGA 'Reporter' and Capitol Rioter, Jess Weber.

Simultaneously, we sent a camera crew up to Oakland with Sidam to capture other side of California's political spectrum; Uhuru Solidarity, another band of radical mostly-whites with a lot on their mind.

This double-coverage was only possible due to the growth of this Patreon. So we just want to thank all of you guys for your continued support since our launch in April. We've put nearly all Patreon proceeds back into production and were recently able to hire our first full-time employee; a skilled, efficient editor who Andrew personally trained.

This new hire will make it so we can be much more productive, and overall, spend much more time shooting in-the-field, as opposed to being bogged down on an iris-blazing editing bender, which has been standard procedure for the crew since we jumped in the RV in 2019.

Moving forward, we're also considering adding more correspondents to the 5ive roster. Imagine an Afghan Andrew (or Andrea) on the streets of Kabul!! Or .. Mainland China. Who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy.

-Andrew Nic and Evan

Any chance you can make these videos available for Saving / Favoriting on Vimeo? That would make it easier to watch in the Vimeo app (and therefore on our TV) since I get the notifications on mobile. Thanks!

Noah

Love it! I know their hearts are in the right place, but these marches are just funny

i've lived in the east bay my whole life, you can tell right off the bat that these people are not local, they don't know where/how to effectively protest around here, and they didn't bring any black voices from the community. not to mention that st louis shit is hilarious.

javiercitrus

adding more correspondents would be awesome can't wait for more cool people like Sidam!

When Sidam popped up with all the basketball courts in St. Louis I lost it 😂😂

Kevin

I love Sidams delivery. First video I’ve watched from the Patreon and it’s already a great investment. Come for Andrew, stay for Sidam

Minty video

Love Sidam, and no joke that store is actually pretty good tho. Didn't know about the reparations part.

Can I have five dollars?

Anonymous

love this

Anonymous

IIT: Tell me you haven’t read “The Case for Reparations” without telling me you havent read “The Case for Reparations.” Sidam’s “can I have 5 dollars” bit is a just a tad condescending which is something Andrew hasn’t really done. I loved AGNB and C5ive because it enables passionate people to talk about things to such an extent that they themselves reveal how out of line they are with centrist politics. Take cheap shots at an event with Left-Far Left folks isn’t funny or charming, it’s just easy.

Anonymous

This guy chewed on my pencil in class and then gave it back to me

Anonymous

Hope to see Sidam as a regular feature he was great

Kyle Z

Good work as always but the "Can I have 5 dollars" bit stopped being funny after the woman explained that reparations need to occur through government rather than individual charity. These people's hearts are in the right place but the basketball court idea is hilarious.

Anonymous

Sidam is hilarious.

Anonymous

“Yeah…next time…😔” He knows that’s an empty gesture. The white has no true intention of paying their $5 reparation “next time”

they can show you that both sides are ridiculous at times, and that's okay.

Agreeing with the video and a lot of the commenters. The hearts of the people behind Uhuru are in the right place, but the practical application is certainly lacking as Oakland gentrifies, especially considering Oakland's place in black history. Sidam is absolutely right that stuff like free breakfast programs or after-school programs for kids and all that are a lot better for the community than a basketball court on the other side of the country. It's like a church group going out to dig wells for rural communities in West Africa that already have a source of clean drinking water, or sponsoring a child with world vision. It's assuaging your own guilt while completely financializing your own contribution to the vague solution of a systematic problem. "It's ok, the people I support that are far away from me now have this thing I bought for them".

Anonymous

Sidam is an insanely good cohost, he seems to have that same knack for getting people to talk and respond to being interviewed while also having alot of his own personality

Anonymous

this is pure gold, from front to back the journalism is incredible and shout out to the new street crew interviewer/commentator. Great addition perspectively and comedically. What networks etc. don't understand is that journalism is taking the "good" with the "bad", and despite some of it seeming like a troll, those people's voices are at least "being heard", even "the way they were intended" one may argue. Much love and continued support <3

Anonymous

While I agree with the direct critiques of the group laid out in the video, I think the video would be better without it. One of the things I really appreciate about Channel 5 is its objectivity and leaving the viewer to draw their own conclusions. When you lay your opinion on the movement out it undercuts your objectivity.

Anonymous

Big bro said ✍️can I have $5 I lost it

Richard Springfield

Anybody who gets mad at this video is somebody who would have been at that rally unironically.

Anonymous

there were some weird and backwards takes in there. Especially the lady who said she wanted to reincarnate...

Anonymous

Sidam is a nice guy. I hope he make more stuff on channel 5. The Uhuru thing seems a little dumb. I think the money should be used in some educational way.

I can't wait to see a Sidam and Andrew tag-team interview

GM

Uhuru my brothers! Their hearts are in the right place but damn, a lot of this is just a lofty unsophisticated emotional action where they know Black people were taken advantage of and kept down for so many generations and want to resolve that injustice but it's such a complicated thing to solve. I think the solution is an economic reset where we develop some transparent, open-source, fair economic system to replace the longstanding game of Monopoly that we continue to live under where the winners write the rules and never lose power or wealth. Taxing the wealthy is where we start under our current system though...

Anonymous

this is taking me like an hour to watch, i keep replaying it and stopping to get more people

Anonymous

So close, white folks, yet so, so, *so* far away.

Anonymous

How tf they figured the best place for money to go was a basketball court.....in ST LOUIS. "Heart in the right place" only goes so far, if you're a gentrifier the least you can do is try to preserve & take care of your local community first

Anonymous

This shit was hilarious everybody at this rally doesn’t know the first thing about economics and it is OBVIOUS 😂😭 good luck with taxing the rich they will just put their business and homes in other countries with lower taxes and we will enter a recession. Proposing communism? We would all be equally poor. There isn’t enough money for everybody. Bottom line is no economic system has brought more people out of poverty in the history of the planet than capitalism. It doesn’t matter if you agree with that statement or not because it’s a fact not a opinion.

Anonymous

Very funny and fair reporting. Sidam is a natural, please put him in more pieces!

Phil MC

This funny, they’re marching for oppression while not realizing they’re part of the problem.

Sidam was hilarious and the editing was great- Awesome work boys! Also that blonde woman was wearing a mask from @weardiop which is a black-owned business my friend started, super cool to see.

Just when I feel like the 'stop the steal' and 'antivaxxers' are pushing me further to the left, along come these people to prevent that push. I feel like I'm in a blender of idiocy these days, coming from all sides. Note that this doesn't mean I'm against reparations, but these people are just not capable of serious discussion

Anonymous

lol tight

Anonymous

I bet some of these clowns gunna look back at this and be thankful that they were wearing masks to cover their faces up.

if you'd like to learn some more about left wing politics check out Hasanabi on twitch. As a socialist I also think these reparation basketball court ppl are cringe lmao

Cutty wassup rack dat shit

Anonymous

i love this channel but clowning on sjw's hasn't been funny since like 2012. there's a reason h3 quit doing it, it's low effort and you end up attracting a fan base of far right weirdos.

Kevin

Nah I’m far left and this shit is embarrassing. Can’t call out absurdity on the right and ignore the hypocrisy on your own side. That’s what they do.

Anonymous

Yeah sorry brother but this is absolutely reasonable. These people are a pArody of social and liberal movements today all by themselves. It’s nice for them to be outside creating SOME awareness, but they aren’t even providing benefit to those who need it most. The lady with the short hair had the most reasonable take. They just make themselves look silly. If a black guy showing up to report on An all white, reparation movement clowns on them, not his fault.

Anonymous

I wish channel 5 had taken like 30 seconds to Google the uhuru movement before releasing this video. Looks like they're under the leadership of the African people's socialist party, which means that all the large scale decisions and top leadership are 100% black led. It's literally white people doing the work that black people are asking them to. The party and main leadership also seem to be based in St. Louis, so it makes a lot more sense that they're sending the donations there once you find that out. It's not actually a bunch of white people building random basketball courts and calling it reparations or whatever, but they're trying to help raise money and awareness to help build an actual community center. Idk, I actually really enjoyed most of this video, but after looking them up, I don't feel super comfortable clowning on the movement. For the first time ever, I'm just a little disappointed in the reporting here and the fact that it seems like almost no research was done on what was actually going on.

Anonymous

this ain’t sidam, this polo cutty. Love that man

Anonymous

i see your point but still think the criticism is valid. also they didnt really clown on them hard a few people definitely said some off the wall shit and overall it just seemed like an odd gathering and i agree fundraising in oakland for a basketball court in st louis is a little odd when theres a huge black community there that is being pushed out and could use resources.

Anonymous

There's been plenty of radical leftists before this upload

kingmushido

why do black americans allways think swahili is the only language to name their movements? swahili is only spoken in south east africa while most afro americans come from the gulf of guinea. there are like 1400 languages in this area you just need to pick one.

kingmushido

and why should anyone pay reparations to people from gaza or palestinians? jewish people aren't white and the EXISTENCE OF ISRAEL IS ACTUAL REPARATION

Anonymous

Didn't see one Black American in this video saying Uhuru, I saw a bunch of White Americans saying it though.

David

I just love anything you guys make and will probably just keep paying this Patreon till the end of time
