Our family is Mexican and we do an ofrenda. I only go back to my grandparents generation on my ofrenda. But unfortunately I’ve had a lot of loss so there are many people on ours that we remember every year.

I'm just now getting around to watching this episode, but I think I have a unique perspective as I can relate to the girl in the story regarding ovarian cancer... I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 22. I was single at the time, and I didn't know what treatment would look like for myself. My surgeon luckily was able to save my uterus, one fallopian tube, and one ovary. However, I didn't know if I would need to do chemo/radiation or if my remaining ovary and fallopian tube would function properly. I began talking to my (now boyfriend) after my surgery and before I was pronounced "in remission". I told him of my condition right away (within the first few hours of conversing) and the possibility of being unable to have my own biological kids. He thought about it, but ultimately decided that even with the uncertainties, I was worth it to him. For the record, we have been long distance since the beginning of our relationship. We have been together for 3 and a half years with our long distance coming to an end next fall!! All of this to say - you are worthy of love and acceptance regardless of your fertility and the right person will see you for all your glory. Mine did! So even though it's hard, be honest right away to weed out those who can't support you throughout wherever your journey of life will take you.
