There was a guy in Brazil who started out as a TV host, turned politician and then eventually became a drug lord. Wallace Souza aired his show Canal Livre in Manaus, Brazil from 1996 to 2008. He showed graphic footage of gang and other horrific crimes on his show which garnered him praise and popularity. He soon started to stage his crime footage like Lou. Ash! Since you enjoyed this movie so much, I'd Like to recommend you to watch There Will Be Blood. It's about a man building his oil empire by being ruthless and destroying his enemies just like Lou Bloom. It's my favorite Daniel Day-Lewis performance and has beautiful cinematography of the American Southwest. Cheers!
