Hello my patrons! I'm still in "catch-up" mode after being sick for multiple weeks, but I'm getting closer to being able to relax a little. (It's like when you take a long vacation at work, you always get home to a huge pile of work, taking away some of the joy of taking a break.)

Here's a video I've wanted to make for a while, I was just waiting for a broken machine with the right fault.

I wanted to show it is possible to do some fixes on 8-bit commodore machines without having any special diagnostic or test tools of any kind. The end result of this fix isn't up to my usual repair, but it got the job done and I did it in a safe way that didn't risk damaging the board.

I'd love to know your thoughts of this one!

Thanks for all your support!

doesn’t seem like he’s done this video? maybe i’m experiencing the mandela effect? precognition? i should go play the lottery

I think there was a previous rAM failure on another machine, might have been a C64 where we dd similar calculation, but I was using the usual fancy suite of tools as well.

As a kid I once used the method of cutting all legs and then get out the pins one by one to replace a bad Z80 in an MSX computer

This is great. I have basically zero skills in this area but love this stuff! Thanks again Mr Black!
