An etude taken from "Master the Fretboard" online course (starting January 2024)

In this etude (musical exercise) we are exploring the "blues scale" - an extension of the minor pentatonic scale, with an added b5 note.

In the etude we are incorporating fingerstyle techniques in order to create our own "rhythm section" on the guitar - which allows us to study the scale in a musical context.

We move the same melody to 3 different positions across the fretboard, this way "wiring" the different scales shapes in musical way.

---------------------------------------------------

The "Master the Fretboard" course itself is structured as a series of etudes, through which we learn:

- The different musical variations & characters of the pentatonic scales

- How to move the scales & melodies across the fretboard

- Understanding the fretboard visually, and how the scales relate to the CAGED system (using the open chord shapes)

The etudes are intentionally composed to build the fingerstyle techniques in an easy to follow, step-by-step manner

- We take 2 weeks for each etude

- Each etude contains structured practice routines (working on the different elements separately before putting them all together)

- The difficulty level is incremental - in the first month we focus completely on building the most fundamental technique (applying the hits on the 2nd & 4th beats). Only in the 2nd & 3rd month we add additional techniques (Bass lines, hammer ons, slides, etc.)
