YITLOF: Ch: 36) Test End (Patreon)

“Yuki, did you need to do this!?” Kakashi stood there with a kunai in his hand. He was trying to be ready for everything.

“Do what?” Yuki asked calmly with a bright smile. She did her best to act as cute and innocent as possible.

“We both know you are good at making up plans. You take everything into account. Your allies, your enemies. Everything. I have watched you and Hinata over the years so I know you already made a plan before coming here. I know this because both Sakura and Naruto had breakfast this morning. You made sure they ate something so that they would have the energy for today’s test.” Kakashi laid it out plainly for Yuki.

“You really are no fun Kakashi sensei.” Yuki sighed as she held her arms up in the air. “But you must understand one thing about this whole situation.”

Kakashi narrowed his eyes. He suddenly felt something was off. He turned his head to see a big grinning Naruto crunching down behind him. “No wait naruto if you do that!”

“THOUSAND YEARS OF DEATH!” 

“EEEEEEEEEEE!” Kakashi jumped into the air in a strange manner just barely escaping the fingers that were about to enter a place where no fingers should enter. “Naruto, that was dangerous!”

“Oh? Kakashi sensei used the same technique saying it was one of Konoha's most secret jutsu. You also used it on Naruto, a young boy. ” Hinata said with a wide grin on her face. “Kakashi sensei, don’t tell me that you lik…”

“Don’t even finish that sentence Hinata!” Kakashi quickly stopped Hinata before she could continue. He held his head as he looked at the three young genin in front of him. He had no idea how Naruto even snuck up on him. He let out a long sigh. “Now then shall we begin?”

“Hmmm? Begin?” Another voice came from behind Kakashi. He turned to see Sakura standing there smiling at him with an object dangling from her hand. 

“This….” Kakashi stared at the bell in Sakura’s hand. He looked down at his side and was shocked to see not just one but all of the bells were gone!

“Yuki, I wasted so much time putting up those tags and now they are useless. ” Sakura pouted. She had worked so hard and now she could even use them.

“I will help you take them done. It would be a waste if we did not retrieve them.” The tags were a combination of explosion and flash to blind a person. Yuki wanted to take everything into account, even Kakashi’s ability to use his own form of flash step. She never thought that just a few words from her would cause him to go into a rant and lose all sense of his surroundings.. This did not make him look good as a shinobi. And Yuki could tell from the look of disbelief on his face that he had never expected this to happen either.

“Haha! Kakashi Sensei you never thought I would go for the bell first did you!” Naruto stated proudly.

“Naruto, don’t get all high and mighty. If not for Yuki you would not have even had a chance to get the bell.” Hinata yelled. Hearing Hinata’s voice caused Naruto to shrink back. He had a slight fear towards this girl.

“Hinata's right, Naruto. You need to work more on your ability to take advantage of the situation. At the start, you tried to fight Kakashi sensei when you knew you did not have the skill to. This is a big mistake. What if he was an enemy? He could have easily killed you or taken you hostage. You need to ….” With each word naruto’s head got lower and lower. He hated when Yuki lectured him. The girl he loved was not showing him any kind of face whatsoever. But at the same time, he felt like he longed for this kind of reprimand. Kind of like a mother who was scolding her kids. Of course, he would never tell anyone this. 

Kakashi stood at the side while Naruto was scolded by Yuki and wondered exactly what his role was. Scratching his head in frustration he interrupted everyone: “You all pass! I had planned out this whole entire thing and Yuki ruined them all. I never thought naruto and sakura would be able to steal a bell. Okay since we are done. We will meet up tomorrow morning before going to get our first mission. Do not expect anything too exciting. Genin do not get anything above a D rank mission.”

With things settled the group broke up going their separate ways. Naruto tried to follow after Yuki but Sakura already knew that Yuki and Hinata were busy with something else so she dragged him away. 

In the Hokage’s office, Hiashi was standing in front of Hiruzen. “I thank you for letting me watch. I am glad Hinata has been able to progress so well and has grown so strong at such a young age.”

“Mmm, she will become a vital asset to Konah. But Hiashi, I need you to do something for me.” Hiruzen took a puff of his pipe and spoke in a lower voice. “Keep an eye on Danzo. He has been looking into both girls. If you wish to make up for what you did to Hinata then protect her from the shadows.”

“I will be sure to. Until she is old enough to protect herself no one will be able to touch her.” Hiashi stated firmly. He knew this would not atone for his sins but it was all he could do for Hinata.
