Second entry into the Paranoiac Films series, and I'm joined by Blauer (@blauer_geist) of Ellroy Boys and Apocalypse Confidential to discuss the other JFK assassination film, Executive Action (1973). As always, we discuss some of the finer points of the film and weigh the pros and cons of the film on its own. Then we compare and contrast it to Oliver Stone's JFK.

We discuss the source material, the director, screenwriter, and actors involved, and then talk about Executive Actions, or whacks, as they're also known. Along the way we discuss how we both got into JFK conspiracy culture.

Jimmy have you seen Winter Kills (1979)? Its one of the most nuts movies I've ever seen. Jeff Bridges plays the younger brother of a slain JFK style American president who is on a quest to unravel the conspiracy behind his brother's death. It's based on a book by Richard Condon, who of course wrote The Manchurian Candidate. John Huston plays Jeff Bridge's sociopathic billionaire father. Eli Wallach plays Jimmy Diamond (Jack Ruby.) Toshiro Mifuckingfune plays John Huston's servant. Sterling Hayden plays some kind of Edward Walker or Charles Willoughby type character. Anthony Perkins plays a creepy "accountant"/spook. It's described as a black comedy and I think that's apt. It's got some truly fucked up moments that are also quite funny, especially one of the final scenes. Jeff Bridges' entire career is very "interesting." Ever seen The Yin and Yang of Mr. Go? It's frigging bizarre. Directed by Bridges' buddy Burgess Meredith, who also had an interesting career in and out of film. There's definitely an episode or several episodes worth of material to be mined from these movies.
