Foreign Classics (delicatessen, the borgman, the city of lost children) Black and White 90's niche/80's niche Noir Time Travel Vintage Sci-fi (Solaris 1972, Logan's Run) My kinda themes.

Mark Campbell

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is the quintessential Thanksgiving movie as well as a classic comedy. Consider doing some old Hollywood classics like Casablanca. You could watch every Paul Thomas Anderson film (my favorite director). As always, I must throw out a recommendation for In Bruges. Maybe try some period piece films like Master and Commander, Barry Lyndon, etc.

If you do the Time Travel theme, don't bother with Synchronic (2019) or Timecrimes (2007). They are trash.

I watched Master and Commander recently because it's my dad's favorite movie and he suggested it. It wasn't ultimately my thing, but it was definitely good and those action sequences were awesome. Also, "Period Pieces" is a great theme, and my beloved Barry Lyndon would fit right in.

"Month of Madness" with surreal films like Eraserhead, The Lighthouse, Donnie Darko, American Psycho, Pi, etc.

My vote would be: what's the easiest for you to edit?! If it's comedy, let it be a month of comedy. If it's war movies, let it be war movies! (comedies tend to be shorter movies; a good comedy gets in and out!). "Raising Arizona" is funny, fast, classic, beloved.....and only an hour and a half! "Dazed And Confused" is classic, beloved....and only an hour and a half! (as is the movie it's related to: George Lucas' amazing "American Graffiti".....only an hour and a half!) All the Eddie Murphy movies are an hour and a half, etc. etc etc. )

Yeah and don't forget other surreal films like Tale of Tales, Age of Adaline, Pan's Labyrinth and Benjamin Button. 🙂

Oooh how about a run of submarine movies? There are some great ones out there, Hunt for Red October, Crimson Tide, Das Boot, Underwater, Gray Lady Down and the list goes on.
