After I watched the five home streak replay, I was finally comfortable enough to watch Warriors basketball live. And after watching the last two games, I think it's pretty obvious, especially in contrast to the defense on display in the 5 home streak, that on the road they just improvised, aka has zero preparation. I doubt if they actually meet up for a video session before the game on the road. Other than Steph, no one can pull it together when travelling. If we have to blame a party, it's the coaching staff. But it might just be that the players have no time/ energy for a pre-game meeting at all that Kerr just decided to cut them a slack. Honestly, I'm not worried at all after they proved the defense is still there, ready to launch. For now, just hang there enough to avoid the play-in. With Steph, Klay, Wigs, JP, Dray, Donte, Loo, JK, Lamb and GP2 hopefully, a full squad Dubs is too deep to lose in the playoffs.

I don't think we need to trash JP. He's not the skilled defender like Steph, Klay but he's not Mitchell or Clarkson either. The poor defense is more from poor preparation than character. Steph didn't start playing defense until 2018 anyway, a time when Rockets picked on him. JP is a Warrior. He and Steph is probably the second Bill Russell and John Havlicek.

I do feel that the leash on Jordan Poole has been way too lax while on JK for example, it's been too tight. Jordan's shot selection and d have been absolutely horrid at times. I'm all for letting them play through it a little but I wish it was a little more consistent. For example, I could see Kerr letting him get a little loose on offense because of the upside, but if Moody played defense like Poole, he's pulled immediately. Again, it's a scale but if Poole is not giving the effort or missing defensive assignments regularly, he's got to be pulled and shown that is not acceptable. Or are we ok turning him into a poor man's James Harden?

If Draymond opts in you swap him for J.Collins the same day. Same week, you shop J-Poole for 2way weapons. This allows them to keep Donte. The 4 guard rotation is set, the two wings in Wiggs and Kuminga, the bigs in Loon and Collins, ideally Poole is sent to the Nets or Raptors with Moody + the 2023 draft selection (once the player becomes moveable) along with the 26 and 28 lightly protected 1sts to maximize the Poole return package.

And they should do that, regardless of how well or poorly the Dubs perform in these upcoming playoffs.

Poole and a pick for Mikal Bridges in the off-season?

Qiushi Hu

It's amazing how a little mentality shift could change your game in a huge way and Poole really needs it right now. I've been playing a lot of pickup and I love to go to the rim. Though I'm fairly athletic, my percentage at the rim is pretty average and I get stripped a lot. Lately I've had some problem with my hand and I started to drive with the intention to pass. It's crazy how fluent my game has become and people starts to defend the passing line and it opens up so much opportunities for me.

Also have you listened to Bob Myles' interview with Adam Silver. Dude is weird af and border line autistic. I don't trust him with the league

Jor-an Poole is great moniker Alch, (no D in Jordan!) and thank you for the bitter levity amidst this denouement of the dynasty. While the wheels haven't literally fallen off the bus the axles are definitely straining under the illusion of the two-way timeline. I've never been in the JP camp and now the signs are in full effect. Future hall of Famers all throwing hands: Steph a mouthpiece, Klay up in exasperation, Dray a right cross to the smack-talkin' dome piece. Who knows? With the pedigree of this team we may all be amazed by the turnaround over these next 16 games and we go on a deep run and contend for another championship. What it feels like is a team that never achieves the necessary chemistry to defend on a nightly basis and wield the necessary "force" to rise above the pack . The front office and coaching staff gets exposed for their collective inability to develop players through the draft and we are all left with the question on how to manage this "last dance" era. Out of respect to the tremendous run we keep the core three. AI retires to the project studio, try to keep Dante and JK, see what's up with Wiggs, everybody else gets leveraged for smart two-way vets that can win next year. Joey Pockets (another great moniker :)) stops playing this team like a hedge fund and goes all in on going out like the Champs we have been, and still have a chance to be.

Not having any rim protection is really exposing our team for what it is... Not having enough two-way players. Poole, Klay and Draymond are all one-way players at this stage of their career. You may get away with having one or two of those types of players on a championship roster but definitely not 3, especially if you factor how much they are making and how many minutes they are playing.

It's like this team gets arrogant about Steph, like they stop having the appropriate fear and play with 0 effort like they can show up and win because they have Steph on their team. It's not just 1 or 2 players either It's the entire team. It's unfair to harp on just Pooles defense when Klays defense dissappears the moment Steph comes back as well

Body Language is everything and what I’ve noticed is Poole in just not interested in playing defense not from this game but from a multitude of games he just doesn’t give effort especially when he is having a off-night. Also to the league is starting to figure him out his dribble moves don’t really get him nowhere and goes 1000% full turbo( defenders and coaches start to pick up on it) I like him a lot he is a really good personality so with that being said I would like for him to develop that aggression and tenacity on both sides. Draymond I would love for him to understand as a leader there is certain ways to reach people not everyone can be inspired/ motivated the same way. I also would love love love for KERR TO BE THE VOICE AND MORE OUTSPOKEN we are approaching the playoffs and literally every single individual needs to know what’s at stake. It’s quite pathetic how we performed this season and great content Unc

athleticalchemy

that’s my point Showing these snap shots of JP there is no actual intent of ever really defending. Great point on Kerr, did you hear KD on Monte.. it was something to the effect of “ let me lead just you just play ball”

Anonymous

Im glad you been bringing it up because a lot of our fanbase are not critical when it comes to JP( I can see why Dray was probably frustrated with him no excuse😬). The more I hear about Monte the more I love what he is doing for Phx. He a players coach and has played in the league. Which also irks me because Kerr has been apart of and involved with most prestigious franchises, coaches, players. So why is he being reserved right now I don’t get it !! Have a better sense of urgency

Ryan becker

poole _ it seems like he's trying to change on offense, but the defense is what kills me. his bodu language is terrible, that last second three pointer in the first quarter made me kick over my trash can in my house. HE LITERALLY JUST LOOKED AT HIM. Its like he isn't even trying to get better on defense. Also, the refs have been incredibly hard on the warriors and I actually don't know why. Draymond? Poole? it's getting to the point where you cant even play defense without getting calls, maybe that's what Poole is doing. LOL

One of your best breakdown. The conclusion is on spot!

k fish

Good breakdown but it's crazy to say poole has to go especially when drays replacement in kuminga is ready to be a starter and dray in my opinion won't ever be humble enough to come off the bench. I also believe dray is extremely toxic, punched poole, I believe he talked Kerr and Co into giving up on Wiseman knowing it would help his chances to get paid. And kuminga said in an interview something many didn't catch.....he said when he joined the team draymond said to him basically don't talk to me you ain't done nothing in this league etc.......this team will be stuck in the past as long as u let draymond run this organization.

Let’s see quiones in action

What’s the plan if Loon can’t be on the floor. If we had wise that could’ve been the safety net or if we had drafted actual 5’s instead of unnecessary sg. We have what like 7 sgs from the g league and whatever is on the roster. In those 5 guys we did well in that lineup and we did not have those reinforcements. There’s a clear tension dynamic and keeping a person that punched a teammate shows instability to any future talent we might draft. What the eff happened to warrior basketball.

Anonymous

The way Mikal is hooping he might cost more but I’d be down, plus nets got like five 3 and D wings over there lol

Anonymous

Poole feels like Monta Ellis to me, not a true point guard in terms of understanding of the position. A little small and light to be a good shooting guard next to another small guard. Ultra quick, shot is streaky hit or miss.

I've been skeptical if all these minutes with Pool, Curry, Klay as the three perimeter defenders can get by defensively. We aren't a great shot blocking team to negate some of the driving lanes. Poole is probably a bottom 10 defender in the NBA, Steph has never been great, and Klay is being used as the ace perimeter defender after two major leg injuries. On one side I think if you traded Poole for OG Anunoby the defense would look completely different. I also think if you had just a vet big body 7 foot center to clog the lane on defense like Bogut-Zaza-Lopez this defense would improve a lot. You need that big body to park itself in the paint for size and physicality sake, regular season is long and guys get lackadaisical on defending the dribble drives and secondary dribble drives.

Like a lot of other people I'm basically calling the season, but not because of simply things like losing a game; team chemistry is clearly out of whack, which is unusual for the Warriors. I think like others, I basically agree that not only Poole, but Draymond's gotta go, along with trimming all the rest of the fat, like Iggy. We have maybe one more season of playoff-worthy Splash Brothers, and I DO NOT want to waste that. I'm pissed off enough this season's a wrap. That final nail in the coffin was basically GP2 not being ready to play, he might have brought things back. Combination of very bad luck, and some poor planning by the front office this season, along with irresponsible actions by the players themselves. If I was Kerr, I'd honestly make the decision to start giving serious minutes to the people we'll be relying on next season: PBJ and Kuminga. In my opinion, they might even have a small chance of rescuing this season. Time to take a risk on them.

I respect his space… but at what point do we expect Wiggins not to return this season? Bc there’s no news and no leaks. Probably he first time ever in any sports

Anonymous

Yea, it's been suspiciously quiet. You'd think you'd get a generic "bereavement" or "caring for a n ailing family member".. something

Poole is barely better than D-Lo. I said what I said.

unfortunately Jamichael green is our one and only backup for Looney now.
