Ballin Forever

The funny thing about Looney is that because he isnt a great athlete... he is a really disciplined defender... Luka usually gets guys with those pump fakes and little trick fakes... Looney didnt bite and timed everything perfectly... I expect the Mavs to win the first game at home... i got Warriors in 5

Wiggs is really making a case for himself, I think it points to the fact that he wants to stay. He's been on Minn. remember which couldn't have been fun. He is becoming the most important guy in this series for us with the way he's guarding Luka. I've stood next to Wiggs, he's much bigger and stronger than he looks on TV, wiry as hell. Luka may well have serious problems with him in this series, of course with the ball in his hands every play he will get his but it's not going to be as easy as Bridges was, he was way too light to guard Luka.

Speaking of Steph's decline in FTs or just shooting in general: just look at his giant arms and compare them with 2016. I think he deliberately trained and bulked up significantly in order to battle and sustain the physicality being thrown at him on both ends of the floor. As with everything there's a trade-off: I argue he's definitely much less of a defensive liability to be exploited now, however taking on a different body build must have affected his shooting, and the effect might be amplified given that he's a rhythm shooter (I mean to say he shoots by feeling more so than being mechanically consistent). Having said that, I think this will more or less be the Steph we see in this final stretch of the playoffs. I don't expect him to suddenly become 2016 Steph again, but I'm always happy to be surprised. I do hope that he'll work with his trainers to recalibrate his shooting during the off-season given that now he has a bulkier build. Heck, he's the shooting GOAT, I wouldn't expect anything less!

The reason why I think the Warriors will prevail in this series is because the Warriors have seen this type of offense in various iterations throughout their playoff history. A ball dominant player that relies on dribble penetration to collapse defenses in order to kick out to open shooters. Whether it's Lebron or James Harden, the Warriors have experience defending these schemes and they've prevailed in most instances (except 2016 finals).

I feel like this Mavs run will be viewed very similar to the Hawks run from last year. Just like how Philly beat themselves last year against the Hawks, the Suns did the same thing to themselves against the Mavs. Once the Hawks ran into an experienced team In the Bucks, they got squashed. Feel like the Mavs are going to face a similar fate against these Warriors And I could see mediocrity the Mavs way for the foreseeable future until they get Luka a legitimate Co-Star Obviously it has only been 1 game, but that is what my gut has been telling me since the Mavs won against the Suns and I feel this series will be a relatively short stomping from the Warriors

I wouldn't be surprised to see this series over in 5 because we have too many ways to score, especially with this Wiggins' hot streak with a mixed bag of offensive tools . His steady scoring and ability to win his iso's was discombobulating to Dallas who were making sure that Steph, Klay, and Poole didn't get open shots, and they weren't even really cooking, as in they weren't handling the ball to force themselves into a rhythm. What's even more noticeable is how easy it was to secure defensive rebounds while also pushing the pace. In the last series, it was a battle to secure the board and get a decent posession, whereas now we can gang rebound and setup our offense without having to rush the pace. One point that hasn't been talked about enough is how little time our units have played together. I know the writers at the Athletic have talked a little bit about much time the Steph-Klay-Poole-Wiggins-Draymond lineup has played together, but what hasn't been discussed is how little time OPJ, Wiggins, and GP2 have gotten with our core. Lastly, I'd love to shoutout Looney. The dude has been this season's ironman for us, and fighting even harder in these playoffs. This guy cut cheese out of his diet and has stayed healthy since. Not only that, but Andre talked about how much his game has changed since high school in his pod. Looney has changed his game several times so that he can fit with the Warriors. As someone who has come off the bench during the dynasty era and held down great scorers, to being a starter in lieu of a real center these last few years, isnt he the unsung 6th man of this team?

Great analysis again, Alc. I expect to see more fight out of Dallas, but I think we beat them in speed, length, and depth in the end, never mind experience. We toughened up against the Grizz, so I think we'll be able to deal with any surges from them.
