Ay Alchemy, thanks for the hard work you put into your craft. Been a patreon for years and years now and I want to ask you about your plans for the up-coming off season. I specifically remember you doing a lot of videos on your own basketball life, mixed with your daughter's games and stuff. Workout videos in the gym, in the garage. What we love from Alchemy is your analytical and humorous approach to games we care about, but it is also Alch the person and the basketball player in real life we subscribe to. It is you as a person and a fan. I would love to get more "behind the scenes" footage in the summer, even if it is just old man Alch yelling from the stands in your daughter's high school games.

The play in should be fun. Hope Steph stays hot.

Thats absolutely coming! I know I have been off camera for a while here. With the production of daily pod it was kinda of the only way. But I plan on doing some training stuff, my daughter and I have been in the gym. Her summer league is starting jun7th will have vlog footage of that as well. To go along with my normal off season coverage. I apprentice all the support and reminding me you all like the IRL stuff. Promise its coming and excited to share with yall. specially mini Alch's progress

Kicking LeBron's ass would be worth something as well, so I'm not really with you on letting go of the 8th spot. 😄

Anonymous

Thanks for the Juan post-game clip. Hit me right in the feels, too. I really love this guy and I'm so damn happy he's getting his chance.

Anonymous

Call me crazy but I want LA in the play in. I know we been rolled by them twice but I think they're more liable to have an off game whereas portland has some of the most firepower top to bottom in the league.

Ezra Abbey

alch like u said teams trying to mess with positioning never seems to workout, and i dont think the warriors should try and do that, playing with fire imo. lets just win out and deal with the suns

Anonymous

Proud of them young boys. So Alc you really think it's better to concede the 8th seed tomorrow? We'll still have to go thru Memphis one way or another

Anonymous

ayo alc do you have a theory on why Damion Lee isn’t playing if so you should make a vid on that cause i just find it strange that eric paschall made it back on the court before him

David A.

Smiley's quickness is underrated.

I actually disagree a little on van Gundy, now I will say he was dead on about that 1st quarter but overall he doesn't strike as much old school, more just a jerk. I'm definitely with you on missing old school hard nosed coaching but more like popavich. Van Gundy is just so negative all the time about everything at least pop will be brutally honest with a guy but also mixes it with some dry humor and stuff like that

Great vid alc. I do disagree though w tanking to 9 seed. Simply the fact you have to win 2/2 instead of 1/2 is a big difference. 8 seed allows for a bad shooting game in the first game whereas you have to be perfect at 9. I hope Lakers are at 7 so that we either beat LA which is fun on its own, or we lose and play Memphis like in ur scenario and then win and play Utah

I get what you’re saying in theory about throwing Sunday’s game. But as you mentioned, you don’t want to try to manipulate things. Who knows if everything somehow goes wrong in the first game and then that’s it. I believe you still want to give yourself an extra game to be in the playoffs just in case some weird shit happens in a single elimination game. Having said that, Warriors should hope that POR falls to 7th so that they have a much easier chance bc of the familiarly and dominance over that team. The theatrics with the Lakers would be admittedly interesting, but I think they would just put like 3 guys on Steph and it may not end up being as good a game as people think.

Best-case scenario the Warriors get the 8th position and get one game from Utah. The experience might have some value next year when JTA and Poole get accustomed to the playoff environment. Next season they finish in the top three in the West and compete for the title. Can anyone envision Kerr saying what Van Gundy said? The fans love that kind of ‘honesty’, but it doesn’t win games.

Russ

Poole has the quickest first step the warriors have had for a while, Tim Hardaway or Gus Williams maybe? And he's got great wiggle and handle. I just want him to be more consistent with the 3, it's too all over the place. And emulate Steph by setting picks for others, but hopefully that will come as he plays with more starters. EP was a welcome sight. Both Paschall and Poole have such a feel for the pull up from the nail. I can see Poole developing into a DeRozan like mid range god, not as big but with more 3 pt range. Guys know he can go around them so his quick pull up will be unstopable.

Russ

I think Van Gundy said it because he's been frustrated by this team all year and he knows he's out.

Jordan Poole's footwork was impressive last night, I really think he's got staying power in this league, especially if he can stay on the floor defensively.

Julian

I don't see the point of not winning Sunday. Even if it's vs the Lakers, get the win and finish 7th to go vs the Suns. The young guys need confidence, that (if it happens) would give it to them. Also nothing sweeter and punching Lebron in the face, even if it's for 1 game.

Anonymous

Idk, rather have two chances to get into the playoffs plus if that comes with the chance to send either Lebron or Dame home.

athleticalchemy

IDK I think there is a strong possibility they blow there wad in a close loss then limp into the second game

Anonymous

Is smiley the worst defender in the league? I know he's bad but I've never seen someone get so off balance so many times with crossovers that weren't even designed to go anywhere.

athleticalchemy

I keep going back n forth on that. they historically own Portland, but at the same time I feel like Dame and CJ would look at each other and say enough is enough

How long have Kerr and Myers been "developing" Smiley. The dude has a few modest skills and he's a Big - that's really the only thing he has going for him, but he's been a Project forever. Why are they still sitting on him, tying up that roster spot? I hope Bell can dispose of him immediately. This Org loves nice guys, it cares more about its precious 'culture' than Ws. Sometimes it works, like with Wigs, but it's NOT the only Way, it's not even the Best Way. It's morphed from "lightyears ahead" to entrenched arrogance, pure and simple. Btw, Nico can help this club a lot - especially on the floor with Poole. There's some development they're missing the boat on.

Julian

It's tough to be the worst when Mulder is in the league.

I am so excited for what Poole's and Juan's games will evolve into. We were watching chemistry being built yesterday. I think Draymond Steph and Klay are the perfect veteran personalities. I feel like it's almost 3 philosophies these young guys get to draw from. This game was a remix of last year for me and just got me wanting to see this team next year at full force.

Of all the days in the year, Sunday I drive to Joshua Tree for a 1 hour meeting and drive back to the Bay same day, 16 hours on the road, no basketball. Anyone have a violin I can borrow? I must have done something really bad in a past life (or be in the restaurant business, pretty much the same thing) ;-( Someone hoist one for me on Sunday!

Anonymous

A far more entertaining game than I expected given who both teams rolled out onto the floor. Even got tight at the end as the young lads seemed determined to almost throw the game away. I wasn't much of a fan of Steph's reactions on the sidelines. Plenty of frustration and dismissive joking around. He has to know the camera is almost always on him in these situations. Maybe he doesn't care how it will be perceived or Maybe he knows that a bunch of the roster will be cut this off season but it didn't present very well at all. I think winning our way into the first round and stealing as many games as possible before getting booted is as much as this team can expect against anyone. As always appreciate the breakdown and am looking forward to the post season coverage.

losing intentionally is never a good gamble. If you lose later, you'll be left asking "What if?"

Anonymous

Our young guys playing in the system, running the same plays the OG's run and getting a good result, that's a sweet homage that demonstrates the level of the buy in on this team.

Strong Foru

I can't believe you didn't say anything about Nancy Pelosi in the audience.

Anonymous

I didn't even know Smailagic could accelerate that fast. Thanks for pointing out that Nico pass, I only watched this game partially, just crazy casual.

Anonymous

We want the 8 seed for playin games for a shot at moving up to 7 to meet Phoenix. We are a much better matchup versus Phoenix than Utah. Gotta go hard on Sunday against Memphis!

Anonymous

I watched the entire game, I was so impressed with our young core.

What do yall think about if the warriors went for john collins
