What's going on with steph is he banged up or is Ieisha in his head?

Anonymous

One could actually argue that this is the toughest defensive matchup for the Warriors. Van Fleet’s physicality goes uncalled and wears out Steph. And they have a lot of players that match or exceed the athleticism of everyone on our roster. This win really was a gift considering how ugly it got in the 4th.

Anonymous

I get not wanting to gift Wiseman minutes but him only getting 17 minutes after how well he played last night is egregious, I'm tired of watching Looney drag that bad hip of his down the court!!!

Anonymous

Any game that we can win despite Steph struggling offensively is found money in my opinion. Especially this season with Klay out.

Anonymous

Too keen. Youtube video still processing. I'm trying to sneakily watch basketball at work brotha...

Anonymous

Looney shouldn't be on this team. In the past looney's greatest attribute was his switchability. His ability to stay in front of guards. Van vleet just treated him like he was non existent last night. I also saw Cp3 abuse him in 2018 wcf. Its now more common. Every guard abuses looney coupled with the fact that he is too small to defend real centres. Cant jump, cant rebound, cant shoot and has no paint presence.. i believe his fate is to be traded and be for chriss to replace him.

Anonymous

Might have to be a new rule where NBA players cut their nails before an NBA game. The Chef getting scratched up from being guarded by Fredward Van Scissor Hands

Anonymous

Where was wiseman at that whole 4th quarter while we nearly blew the game?

Anonymous

Straight up i think steph didnt give a fuck about the game lol

Anonymous

Alchemy: "Andrew Wiggins is a 3 level scorer"...Damn Straight. Me: but also, the jury is in, "Andrew Wiggins is now a Two Way Player".

Major Powers

Nick Nurse said they had another play running that the Warriors (Draymond) blew up, Siakam was the 2nd option in that set.

Anonymous

I always find myself thinking "oh Lowry is a nice guy and nice player he's cool". Anf then whenever we play the Raptors I wonder what the hell I was thinking. This dude a reckless chode of a player who gets away with so much bullshit strictly cuz he so small and fat. Never stops amazing me the calls he gets against the warriors compared to steph.

Abhi Kelkar

Damn that Steph play at the end of the first, just noticed it was also a lookaway pass.

Russ

I never thought D. Lee would be this much a part of our team, honestly I thought when he first showed up it was just to keep Steph happy. But he has always been able to shoot the rock, just hustle, loose rebounds and that sweet as Tupelo honey jumper.. Couldn't be happier for a guy. Also Boucher's 3 point shot reminds me of Manute Bol, similar frames.

Kahlil Baker

I’m not understanding why Steph isn’t getting the calls still to this day. Him and Klay leave games all scratched up, as much as they are held we should be in the bonus within 3-4 minutes of every quarter.

Anonymous

THANK YOU DRAYMOND, so glad he's still shooting the 3! Wanamaker not being a ballhog seems to make a huge difference. Uggh...let's hope Oubre passes more too. Alch, digging the Blue Arrow overlay you included for D.Lee at 5:04 in the video. Usually it's not a problem picking out the guy you're talking about, but I will frequently have to scan the floor, lock in, rewind, then watch again. Those visual cues do help, especially for other teams.

Abhi Kelkar

he's on a small contract and is like one of the 4 vets we have and the two centers we have. I don't see us trading him anytime soon

Anonymous

Brother in law been nice this season man! Steph did what was needed who cares about the stats man I just want the W. Every time we can beat van vleet and Lowry it feels good. Low key kinda rooting for the troll now. Brad can just be a gritty player man we’ll see what happens with the rotation

Anonymous

I'm just not sure why we didn't get Boucher fouled out playing with 5 fouls basically the entire 3rd and 4th quarter he almost single handedly won them the game.

Russ

He should but won't get votes for most improved this year. How pissed is Minn.?

Anonymous

I thought Boucher's 3 looked kinda like Jokic's, that behind the trebuchet shot. Some very funny shit in this breakdown, too, props.

Anonymous

Another point i want to make is oubre is such a low IQ player. He might be a freakish athlete with a pretty face for ladies but the guy is just straightup dumb basketball wise.. his IQ is terrible. For all his so called defense, wiggins is by far a better defender than oubre. Oubre is very active but not really effective.. i feel his presence is disturbing steph too. Their chemistry is just off and if it persists, they may have to get rid of it. Kd once said on a podcast that not everybody can play in the warriors system, he said its designed for very high IQ bballers.. with this oubre experiement, i now understand what he means

Russ

Yep, loved watching Dray set up the triple switch for the last play, pure Dray, he knew exactly the play they had called.

Jerry Heverly

There was a shot of Pascall and Steph standing under the basket...they are the same height! I actually thought Looney played very well; his best attribute is his ability to guard smaller players one on one. He moves his feet as well as anyone. This was the first time the second string really got outplayed.

Anonymous

That lowry THUD joke got me rolling

Anonymous

Really hoping Steph hunts for these calls and forces the refs to make them, especially these poor shooting games. It really is crazy how few calls go his way when he's one of the superstar faces of the game AND he's small -_-

Anonymous

Nurse been nursing some Big Macs

Anonymous

Ugggh yeah I don't wanna agree with you but it's looking more and more like Oubre's not gonna smarten up. Yeah if he's just out of position all the time, it's gonna muck up the floor. At least him NOT overly celebrating is a good sign.

Matt Hanna

didnt catch the first half when wiseman was rolling but I agree, if he has that much of a favorable matchup, gotttttaaa play him more. Maybe its the defense?

Anonymous

To your point, great win given Steph shot horribly That’s a huge win against the narrative that the rest of this team his sub-par I feel bad for Oubre, the unflappable one lol Def want to see Kerr just swallow his motion pride and pick and roll all the damn starters together and throw in EP more to keep the defense guessing lol

Anonymous

PS dribbles like he just learned to dribble

Anonymous

this game had playoff type vibes... both teams wanted this win real bad, playing extra hard down the stretch... Toronto is definitely a better team than their record shows...

Anonymous

the best thing about this game is that we saw that we can win when Steph has an off night. It used to be a concern pre-KD where he'd be off and Klay would step up. Our defense and bench stepping up last night was huge. Also, didn't the last time Steph had a career bad night he followed it up with a record setting night? Looking forward to the game tomorrow

Anonymous

I've always seen EP and Dray as two very different players, and bristled at the comparisons. But, I'll be damned if I haven't confused EP for Dray a few times with some of his defense. EP has flashed some great defense at times, and for a split second I thought he was Dray. Each time I catch myself, I get excited for what EP can be as a two-way player. Maybe its just me.

Thomas Ogas

I really like the idea of Oubre being our 6th man, super defensive sub, or playing more as a "small ball" starter. Replace him in starting line-up with Bazemore. I like Lee as a microwave off the bench. Feels like Bazemore can easily hit those corner 3s and give us the same juice in transition as Oubre ... and plays decent enough defense.

Anonymous

yeah I told wifey he needed to get that to Steph. Guaranteed that came up today in the tape room. Getting that win with Steph having a bad night is super promising.

Shea Johnson

hey uncle alch whats your thoughts on wiseman's lack of minutes in the second of half of this game and most games?

Wiggins on Draymond: https://youtu.be/4YAseJtauUI?t=209

Anonymous

The gameplan against guarding Curry must be to keep those fingernails growing for about 2 weeks and to bleed him out when they're holding. Damion Lee and Wiggins finally getting the respect they deserve from the bulk of the fan base, it's just nice to see man. Oubre's shot form doesn't look bad at all, it's just astounding at this point why it's not going in.

Ezra Abbey

Yeah there was a video posted on reddit where someone broke down how Draymond blew up the set, he must've watched tape, just next level.

Ezra Abbey

I think EP should've been subbed in in the 4th quarter, even though the matchup wasn't great he was still killing them in transition and in the paint, our offense completely sputtered out in the 4th for like 5 minutes, we could've used a bucket.

Anonymous

Just win, baby! Alc channeling his inner Al Davis

athleticalchemy

facts.. and it aint even got to be late, It feels like he gets pulled the first 4 min of the 3rd regardless the situation.

athleticalchemy

I didnt see that.. I saw a guy who could not find a rhythm against a team that can run all his routes off ball.

Anonymous

loving the Wig focus.... im just salivating adding Klay

athleticalchemy

The way he fully commits to break off his guy and rip somebody is so old man pick up ball! I get PSD watching it

Anonymous

I love the fact that we have two guys to put on Siakam. He killed us in the finals because Dray couldn’t guard him. I don’t agree with beat writer Wes Goldberg too often but he was right about them not making Kelly a 2. He really feels like a 4.

Anonymous

The finals was a unique case because our roster was so depleted and we had to give guys like McKinnie and Cook minutes. Iguodala and Livingston were kinda washed at that point as well.

athleticalchemy

He kinda did! Id be willing to bet he played rim running center until maybe late at New Mexico or wherever he was at

athleticalchemy

Lowery has to stay super healthy or I don't think they make the playoffs.. he tends to miss little chunks of games

athleticalchemy

As exciting as JW potential is. EP has to be the biggest bright spot thus far, he is showing he is the real deal and here to stay.

athleticalchemy

Baze has been way more in control than I anticipated.. got to credit the culture and staff and of course him buying into it.

athleticalchemy

His defense is not there yet, but alot of it he kinda makes up for by being so big. Im cut video on it this week.

athleticalchemy

Ok you with me.. I was wondering if you saw something is steph shot last night? Honestly I rarely ever look at his form because well....

Jansen E

This was one of those typical "uncomfortable" wins. Like it didnt really feel like we won after the final buzzer. We escaped with it and seeing Draymond raise his hands in celebration like a half second early almost gave me a heart attack. Kyle Lowry is just a smaller bitch version of Chris Paul. I get theyre shorter so they have to revert to certain antics to get by with 6'6+ humans, but goddamn, why do they gotta be so damn unlikeable to do it. And I feel like Fred Van Fleet could have a 0-0-0 statline every other game of the season, and the Raptors would keep him solely for how he plays against the Warriors. Anyway: My biggest gripe with this game (besides Kerr just ignoring and not changing anything about what to do with Steph when clearly it wasnt working) was that Paschall had Boucher matched up on him several times. That dude is a walking toothpick! Why on gods green earth was Paschall not putting his shoulder down and moving that twig out of the way!!!! That was killing me. I get hes more fleet of foot than Zubac and has a legit shot (which is annoying as hell as we couldve had him lol), but goddamn with a head full of steam, Paschall continued to pass the ball away or just not attack him. Am I missing something there? Outside of that. This was about as exemplary of a "TEAM WIN" as you can get. We had like 9 players in double figures? I will once again tip my cap to Wanamaker. Two times in a row. But I still refuse to believe. I need to see it consistently. If he manages to do it for 7 out of the next 11-12 games, then I'll finally acknowledge that hes okay. But I still wont ever say we should keep him after this season. Damion Lee taking that final shot didnt bother me at all actually. Considering how he's been playing, and how Steph was playing last night, he actually was the better option there. The part that bothered me was taking a double-teamed 3, when all we needed was two. Glad he made the free throws, but we had plenty of time to get an actual shot that didnt have to be a 3 ball. Anyway. Tough win. Raptors probably shouldve won. And the problem remains, we need size coming off the bench. As good as the backup unit has been, Siakam and Boucher immediately feasting when Wiseman went to the bench is trouble and glaring. Who should we use that DPE for, Alch?!?

Natto Santo

Wanamaker is sinking the 3s now, and his D is valuable.

Natto Santo

Just love Kelly, he never folds and never quits. I hope his 3s is coming back to him and we can be a contender

AK

Pascal "tiny bag" Siakam

Connor H

I was really hoping to see if they could get some pnr with Kelly and steph to see if they can use his athletic ability that way and build up some chemistry. Dude just plays so hard I just want him to succeed lol

Anonymous

Just win baby!

Anonymous

FVV is def a warrior killer. The other one i can think of is Will barton.. low key always getting numbers on us.

Nathan Glanzer

Starting to really love Wiggin's game. The quiet fist bump after he stops the potential game winner with solid defense. He understands who and what he is and it's refreshing.

athleticalchemy

Attacking mismatch’s is just not in Steve’s playbook.. but that is also on the players. You are wrong about Lowery tho... he is a bigger version of CP 😀.. too early to tell on the dpe

athleticalchemy

At certain point the pressure will be off.. the expectations of making it will be gone. We know he is going to keep pulling it.

athleticalchemy

I think he might be spazy setting screens but I agree I’d like to see a few. Specially considering he is probably now drawing the weakest defenders

Anonymous

Christ Boucher another guy Myers let go, come on man. Kid dominated us in the paint.

Patrick Kennedy

“Like a Draymond fart on a team plane...” C’mon, man...🤣😂😏 How did you come up with that?!

Patrick Kennedy

“Terrence Davis looking like a sound cloud rapper...he might wanna change that look for his court date...” 😂😎 so good, so fast...

Anonymous

Brother in Law coming through! Every time I see D-Lee I think of that grubbin BBQ joint on Divisadero by Alamo Sq park. They still open?

Anonymous

Not forcing things, Not trying to be the man or the scorer. Solid D and coming through with buckets when we need them. That trade would have been a steal even if had been straight up DLo for Wigg -- just a straight up heist when you take into account those picks Minny gave up!!)

Branden Edwards

This is my favorite game of the season so far. It shows that our bench isn't nearly as bad as we thought it was going to be coming into the season. That Steph doesn't have to be hot every night to win games. Go Dubs

Anonymous

Definitely put some respect on D Lee. His contributions have been huge so far! Wiggins is looking like a great fit so far too.

Anonymous

imo, siakam just hasn't looked the same since his knee injury. He looks half a step slower than in 2019 and very early 2020

Anonymous

Yo Alch! Great breakdown. I am loving this version of the Warriors. A lot of grit and determination. Off subject (slightly), Kyrie is “Off the grid” after announcing he wouldn’t play for the Nets!!! Is this the dumpster fire we were all waiting for? I need some popcorn and shades for this because it’s going to be silly af 😂😂😂

Anonymous

I find it tough to scroll through Warriors twitter at the moment, so it's great to come here and see level-headed takes, smart analysis and some great one-liners. I don't get the Oubre-bashing. I love his hustle. I love his willingness to TRY to do the right things. Coaching the bad habits out of him is going to take time. His shooting will come. Be most of all, I love how together the team is. They aren't in sync at all, but the effort is there and the effort to get there as a team is great to see. No hero ball. No-one trying to overstate their role. Do your job, makes passes, fly around on D. Good things will come.

Anonymous

I agree 100%. The knee-jerk “trade player X” chatter is so ill conceived. It feels as if people think real life is a 2K video game and players can be interchanged at will and the only thing that matters is their stat line. That kind of thinking reduces human beings to automaton status. I would really love to see the Warriors win with this specific lineup if only just to stick it everybody who thinks like that. Give these people a chance to gel

Anonymous

Birthdays are cool but they do come at regular yearly intervals. I’ve skipped many birthdays including my own for more important things (at least they were more important to me). I can say without any reservation that if I had the skill and was fortunate enough to be a key piece of an NBA team I would do nothing but focus on that until it was taken away from me. That’s just me though

Was surprised with the choice to put Wiggins on Schroeder and Oubre on Lebron to start the game. Schroeder torched Wiggins early. I think Wiggins was happy to get switched off him. Thought it would be the other way around. At end of game, they switched it around and I thought it was more effective. That said, maybe Oubre's energy took Lebron out of game a little. Also, glad I was so wrong about Dray/AD. Didn't think Dray could still frustrate him.
