Thanks for making it happen, Alch! This is great!

athleticalchemy

Not having been alive for the Bulls’ Finals runs, it was nice getting to see this perspective of the game. Kerr definitely learned a lot from this era...thanks for the breakdown Alch!

No commentary at 13:25 on Malone throwing a dirty knee at coach kerr’s head?

great video, Alch. dope suggestion Polk

When I’m trying to complete a point I got leave some stuff out. I thought what was dirtier was how he dove at Rodman right before. Kerr delivered a bow in the first half on a hand off. You could tell none of them were bothered by any of it...

🙏🏽 I’d say he is has taken more from Phil than Pop.. but I’d have to really examine it.

I wonder if the hands on the knees stance is an inheritance from baseball- thing, like a short stop waiting for a pitch to be thrown. After watching the vid of this game, I can agree that pat bev is closer comp to the worm than draymond. Cool content!

Nostalgia road with awesome footage. Another great breakdown in the books. Thanks brother

athleticalchemy

That’s good take on the stance.. it’s almost the opposite approach to Iguodala where he picks his spots so masterfully when to turn it on and lock you down.

Feel old saying it but I still remember watching this live with my Dad & brother-in-law. I started rooting for the Bulls back in '95 when MJ came back from baseball. When he hit that shot over Russell, I'll always remember how my brother-in-law damn near broke the coffee table with a hard slap in disbelief. That was a moment!!! As someone who briefly lived in Salt Lake City and attended a lot of Jazz games, I can tell you those fans are both the nastiest and the most dedicated west of Philadelphia. Shouts to the old school Oracle fans of course. But those Utah fans get in your ass. I think it has to do with the Mormon culture of SLC and how much emotion they suppress in day to day life. All that shit gets released at Jazz games. Mike shut them all up...

The POV gave me neasea at first but it really shows the details in those classical moves, another phenomenal video!

Personally, I think you kinda understated Rodman's talent, versatility and defence Alch by comparing him to Beverley. Its just my opinion, and you know much more about bball than me, but although I thought you were spot on about how Rodman's mental games and aggravation fitted Bev's rather than Draymond's, Pat Bev shouldn't be considered in the same stratosphere as Rodman when it comes to defence or some other facets of the game. Pat Bev in a nice, tenacious defender and his skill in that area is very underrated (especially his defence on bigger players, not just mental games) Rodman is a two time defensive player of the year, and 7-time all defence to Pat Bevs 1 time (although the awards can be iffy at times, this gives the nod to Rodman). Although defensive skill alters with the space and pace of today as opposed to the ninety's as well as illegal defences becoming legal with help D and closeouts being more focused upon and recognised, Rodman was actually very good at helping on drives and was more athletic than you'd expect (when he was younger), he was actually very good at the chasedown block. Another underrated and unmentioned aspect of his game was that he was Draymond before Draymond because he could guard all positions 1-5. It was actually quoted i believe that "he could shut down anyone from point guard to center". To be fair, I might be overrating Rodman, but I think as a player you could easily argue that he was on par with Draymond although evolution favours the new but I see a fascinating, volatile and very even matchup. Even when you compared the matchups both players faced and the feats they achieved and overcome, their paths are awfully similar, since both players had to guard and somewhat even overcome more physically imposing players in the post or perimeter (Dray with Aldridge, Capela, Griffin, Siakam, Anthony Davis, and Rodman with Pippen, Magic, Shawn Kemp, Malone, Hakeem, Robinson Shaq even). To be fair, I don't think Rodman could really get the better of Hakeem and some guys. And as I noticed, Malone ate his lunch in the 1998 finals and his defence, rebounding and presence wasn't as profound. But as you said he was kinda clutch in his usual ridiculous style and gave effort non stop. But yeah, I think Rodman even now is quite underappreciated, and was more skilled and cerebral than most other people think.. in my opinion. Your thoughts Alch?

athleticalchemy

no you are right! He is closer to Draymond's talent... I just think the way he went about it was Beverley like.

alch you missed understood me when i said we dont need Giannis,. you thought i was concerned with the backlash with getting him, i dont give a dame dollar with the backlash, i just believe that we could win without him, and this has nothing to do with the rumors of putting klay in them trade talks.
