This was a nice breakdown. Damn I miss this team

What a way to end that season, which is unarguably the greatest regular season ever. Thought surprisingly this wasn't the most iconic game that night...

athleticalchemy

cabin fever like the rest of the world im sure! But blessed to be healthy and together! Hope all is well with you and yours Edward!

athleticalchemy

Yeah the way Chriss has emerged, but if Loon is no longer a rotation guy IDK...Ibaka runs SO hot and cold his inconsistency would drive me crazy

athleticalchemy

Thanks....me too man! I feel like a lot of this might get recaptured next year tho. back in the underdog roll.

It's too bad they did not get the championship, but I mean, 73-9 - not going to happen any time soon again, sooo, maybe worth it?

Anonymous

tbh the wave at oracle seems like it would only happen with a team based in california due to its mexican population and embracemnt of other cultures , as well as the amount of liberals there. Even though Texas has lots of mexicans im sure they don't feel the same about them.

I think Kerr left Curry in because he had two other records to chase - 400 threes and the 30.0 ppg average. To be honest, I think we easily win the 2016 finals if Curry doesn't get that MCL sprain OR the refs don't let the Cavaliers get away with murder on the splash brothers. KD kept changing his styles playing with the team. In 2017 he blended pretty well in transition but by 2018 he was handling the ball more in transition and taking away from Draymond pushing pace or Curry's outlet passes. Remember when he said "You know who I am" and then started doubling his FGA? Kept changing his style. Yeah KD got his buckets but we didn't play anywhere near our full potential. Draymond's beef with KD imo has always been the pace, like that time he told KD 'we won without you' it involved KD asking for the ball while Draymond wanted to push the tempo.

Every single season some team gets the championship. Hell, the Rockets lucked into some championships because Jordan retired. One team just has to be the last team standing. Yes, that's not easy and, yes, that 'ship is definitely worth celebrating, but every single season someone is getting another one. How many teams are ever going to go 73-9 in the entire fucking HISTORY OF BASKETBALL?

Anonymous

I mean there happens to be someone in this draft who could speed up the team with those full court passes...... nah im jk lmao

athleticalchemy

You see the lol blurbs going around that “Golden State sees Melo as too flawed a player to take top 3” 🤓

This content we've been getting from you Alc has been much appreciated.

athleticalchemy

Right!....I agree. All the iso gawds tend to do that. They can get theirs how ever, whenever so why hurry.

man zbo was a beast

Alch definitely hit us with the ZBO break down! I would love that so much. I need some un athletic moves for my old ass knees.

athleticalchemy

Ight let me see what I can do.. started to try and do some back yard training this week myself. Maybe I can ingratiate some little tuts of NBA moves

Anonymous

ZBO is so underrated he used to be a beast. Man ALC u really come up with fire videos. Make staying home easier lol

alch speaking a whole lot of facts in this one, real interesting to look on this season now in retrospect. losing to the cavs was incredibly hard to deal with at the time, but I think it paid off like you said. the team might've even broken up at this point if we would've won in 15-16.

What made the record great, imo, was that it will help the world remember the most incredible season of basketball I have ever witnessed. It was magic. The whole mood, the joy, the pure basketball brilliance night in and night out and a league reeling....it was sometimes like watching teams playing four against five or jv versus varsity. It was insane. And KD wanted to be part of that magic but he never found a home, really. Everything up until then had been organic. He was grafted in,...much love for him, but it is never just about chips for me...

Hey alc, what do you think of making a video of possible warriors targets for the offseason, using our MLE and iggy's trade exception?

athleticalchemy

I will for sure Im trying to pace out some of this stuff not knowing how long the layoff will be.

Anonymous

Thanks, Alc. you know, I think the warriors will think very carefully about bringing in a superstar free agents now. I think they believe more in their development system and bringing veterans to fit in based on their experience now. I would be pretty shocked and surprised if they traded their draft picks away for a veterans. It would have to be just the right fit. What do you think?

athleticalchemy

The chemistry dynamic cant be overstated..I just watched this little Doc on Baron Davis in HS. His team greatly overachieved because they all played together since grade school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcO7cPeyyPE

any chance of reviewing 2016 g7 that aired on weds?

Anonymous

totally agree about Shaun. Always felt like he thought he wasn't needed when really he was basically a walking bucket off the bench from the mid range. Such an asset that kind of went unused the last 3 years. He even carried us one game in the 2016 finals.

athleticalchemy

Crazy...There were way more unintended consequence bringing in KD than appeared while it was happening

Anonymous

The prevailing opinion is KD wouldn't have signed with the 'warriors if they won the championship but there was a very good chance he still would have. He loved their style and the team chemistry and probably didn't think OKC could beat them. In the Hamptons Steph sold him on the idea that they could play together.

Anonymous

Just my opinion but that entire season was so fun to watch that I'll live with the way it ended. The 15-16 team cared so much, every regular season game so much fun. Honestly, the Durant teams where the warriors didnt care until the playoffs weren't anywhere close to this much fun.

athleticalchemy

Does the Hampton's meeting even happen!? Are the core 4 even that thirsty to get him? The infamous Draymond parking lot call...IDK

athleticalchemy

expectations tend to ruin most fun ... I think a lot of us, myself included were more concerned with revenge in the moment...at least year one of KD

Bailey

I avoided watching this video a bit because I knew how emotional it would make me feel. Alch, I love the Batman / Superman analogy. And aside from the exhaustion and other factors, after this game they became more cocky. They became relaxed. Seemingly their mindset was - oh we got this. That fucked everything. Steph is much more limber when he's skinnier. His size in that infamous 2016 OKC game is perfect for him. But of course he has no choice but to bulk up.

This was my kids' first ever Dubs game and it set the bar way too high, lol. I remember when the wave started up. We were all like, wtf? oh well lets go. That season was so special start to finish that it felt like we were playing a different game than the rest of the NBA.
