I'm not very superstitious, but yesterday before the game I watched all the great performances of klay to remind me of his shooting and it was so beautiful to see him go straight into his shot without much shifting and fading yesterday. And Like Bob put it, ASSISTED THREES

Anonymous

My guess is that maybe KD was salty cuz Kerr took away his post-game otter pops?

What you said about trying to get Dray his assists in that action with Steph, I think is spot on. Dray doesn't move with the ball he just plants his feet, really grinds everything to a halt with the lack of spacing. I think a lot of that is on Kerr, who has clearly been trying to appease Dray and Klay this year. That's clearly disrupting the natural flow of what should be a Steph centric offense. Kerr has also not done enough to develop any of the young guys we have drafted. Whether they have just plain missed on guys or not, this year was supposed to be the youth movement but none of the youth are at all prepared not do they seem to be improving, if not the opposite. Looney's defense is down, Bell thinks jumping at pump fakes is going to cure cancer, Jacob Evans is a zero, and McCaw is.. whatever that is. I'm not here to say we need more help but it's clear to me that the lack of depth, lack of 3pt shooting, and complete absence of a strong center is a major failing of the front office

The Andersons got tickets, Alchemy go get those tickets!

McCaw is a sell out man. I don’t understand why he would pull some shit like that

athleticalchemy

Got to get another big body. Never thought we’d miss DJ like this.

With Kerr getting a lot of criticism about his rotations as of late, am I the only one who thinks Kerr is losing this team slowly but surely? I mean that KD isolating thing was new to me and that’s really odd to see.. Also I’m not sure if they showed this on the POR telecast but during the 6 minute mark of the 4th quarter, Kerr took Curry out to sub in Cook so he could get a quick breather. Man, Curry showed some wild emotions indirectly at Kerr as he headed to the bench! I mean the clues are there: Last season: “My voice is not reaching them anymore” Last season + this season: KD and Kerr always contradicting on their style of play, ball movement of iso, etc.

What do you think we are going to do with our open roster spots. Considering Boggie is returning soon

Kd looked salty the entire game but he is an emotional dude so can't really say what his issue is. Anyway kerr is ruining steph and he can't find a rhythm in these games. He gets taken out to late in the first quarter and then midway through the second. Steph is a rhythm player and kerr should know that so I don't know what he is doing with these trash ass rotations. Also why the hell is steph passing the ball to dray and running to the corners

Oi Alch, what is your take on this one? I have never seen Steph this distraught or angry. https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/aavot2/steph_curry_visibly_frustrated_after_being_subbed/ I'd like to hear your thoughts on the new rotations of Steph and KD, possibly in another Alchemy Episode on YT.

Anonymous

Dear Alchemy, thank you for showing KD not engaging with the team in a timeout. I also heard that KD is disengaged from the team in shoot around. I honestly think that KD is sick and tired of Draymond's bullshit, technicals, embarrassing offense, and Kerr being so passive as a coach and nightly rotation changes, all of which have caused losses, and Curry's lazy passes which caused a loss. I think KD is over this shit show. If Bob Myers and Joe Lacob don't want to go out and get a big man and actually deal with what's really going on, then KD will leave and nobody will be surprised.

One thing I've noticed, in the big blow out games vs Toronto, Lakers, OKC, and the Bucks, KD was playing hard till the last whistle. but it was Curry (and I love love Curry) that set the tone of the game with turnovers, lazy passes, not giving 100%. I think KD is over Curry's half efforts that we've seen for years mid-season

Jusuf Nurkić is pronounced 'You-souf Nour-keetch', with a trilled r and a short ee.

I know there are those that think I show favoritism towards KD, but honestly thats my read. I think he has more than played his part this year and is growing frustrated with dray Klay and the offense. He never has seemed to really vibe with Steve.

The fix for shooters that continually miss by shooting a flat shot is to get them to understand that non shooters shoot the ball out towards the basket, good shooters shoot the ball up to the basket. UP DRAYMOND, as if you are locked inside a phone booth with no top on it and the only way to make a basket is to shoot up through the hole in the top of the booth. Think it can't be done? I got an old Purvis Short video here for ya.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxdV-LSntkc

I don't think Curry's half effort games are purposeful. When something comes really easy to you, it very easy to become complacent, and alot of Curry's game relies on anticipation. Of the defense, of his players, of the guy guarding him..and all that is is an educated guess of where, how, how fast, and when they all move. In this game a split second can change all that. And Curry is different in that he doesn't "get focused" to become focused...he gets loose and plays around to get him to focus. Well sometimes that also takes away your focus. I agree Steph gets sloppy and has games where you're just like come TF on dude...but I really don't think it's because of effort. His body isn't always perfectly in tune with what his eyes are seeing and his brain is processing.

KD loves to pass to Quinn....

Jansen E

Just like everyone else has been saying, I thought it very strange to see Steph subbed out with 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The game was far from over, and yet he puts in Quinn Cook for seemingly no reason. Ive been thinking it myself the last few weeks but this is the first time that everyone else seems to be catching out. Kerr is in serious danger of losing the locker room right now. Draymond needs to calm his shit. This was a W and I'll take it, but it just seemed like it cost them a mental L. Not sure how to feel after this, but they got some good "get right" games coming up excluding Houston. Phoenix, Bulls, Knicks should all be some time for them to get back on the same page with each other. Hopefully............

athleticalchemy

I’m going to go deeper into my take in tomorrow’s pregame about Kerr. You would hope these would be get right matchups. Or are they “we have no respect for you matchups”?

Anonymous

That worries me what you showed/said about KD sulking. That's not good if he's being that public with it, not even trying to make it look like everything is OK.

If anyone still questions DJ's potential as an effective NBA center, they should look up DJ Wilson of the Bucks. His transformation from Twitter punchline to defensive and rebounding stalwart would be a perfect analogy for Damian to follow

athleticalchemy

In hindsight I am realizing his size matters more nights than I thought. That said I’m still out on him as a eventual real contributor. DJ Wilson was a near lotto talent I haven’t seen him play so I can’t speak on his progression. The Warriors have spent a good amount of resources the last 3 seasons developing Jones. I’ll check him out. Trading Henson must have opened up some time for him.

That Alpha Klay attitude is so fun to watch

Anonymous

Yeah good to call out on Steph's hypocrisy, NBA players always get mad at the same calls they get. Steph should utilize more of these fouls since he has such a quick release. And on a side note, to me these are legitimate fouls because there's no way you can shoot when someone is tackling you; it's only egregious when you initiate the contact. Having 3-4 guys stand on the perimeter and watching Draymond hold the ball is clearly not an optimal strategy. People ALWAYS left Draymond partially open but difference was in 2015-2016 you had everyone moving, not just Steph and Klay. It's also getting predictable because teams know that Steph and Klay are repositioning for a 3 point shot, we need guys moving off ball that can also dominate the paint.

Anonymous

In my opinion Drey has gone from nba all star to nba laughing stock, there were times when POR’s big would go from the the free through line to the center of the paint just to make sure drey knew they know he’s trash, there were moments when you could see POR’s bench laughing when he has the ball & there is not a defender in sight, @alch, serious question, at this point would you agree that currently dray is an overall liability when on the court? On d real centers kill him, refs hate him, his over switching results in open looks and don’t even get me started about his offense?

athleticalchemy

a live dribble will help him a lot. You see how Luka kinda just rocks people to sleep wit it getting into the paint. He is obviously not that, but that time of probing he could learn.
