vs DEN game 3

What’s up coach, you think the nba in general is trying to water-down the gsw?

This team has a huge problem regarding the 3-pt attempts. The non-Curry part of the team is shooting 20% and that's expected to go up, but every year our 3-pt attempts are going drastically down. Warriors were #2 in attempts in 2016 and then 6th and 15th the next two seasons. Ironically the percentages are going down as well. Of course part of that is teams often have to settle for contested 3-pt jumpers but I think what plays a role is this team focuses too much on high % 2-pt shots which are ultimately 33-40% 3-pt shots that this team can make contested. KD I suspect goes for high FG% games over high TS% games, avoiding the 3 unless it is completely open. He even admits he doesn't care about TS% in an interview. His 3-pt attempts including from the preseason has been ridiculously low. Man the officiating is disgusting. Every team is facing inconsistent reffing but I suspect the Warriors (60 vs 108 free throws for the first three games) is getting the worst treatment for obvious reasons.

Id like to believe that couldn't happen. But its not out of the question. I think Im lean more towards the human element of it. A lot of it could be unconscious. People and Refs tend to root for the underdog.

athleticalchemy

Who else is guilty of this? I didn't even realize Shaun didn't play until I looked at the boxscore. He is the only one of the core I can say this about. Maybe that means he is not part of the core?

athleticalchemy

In regards to post below and yours here's my first out a now where trade proposal of the season. Korver for Shaun... dude has been DNP for them.

S-Dot will likely play tonight and Iggy won't - back-to-backs are death on old knees, Dot played 18 minutes on Friday and Iggy 26 last night. And Bell will get his usual 3 minutes. ;-) These close games are a killer - Steph and KD played 39 minutes, a lot when you have to travel and play the next night. I note Kerr's comments on Patty Melt - they really could use him right now; maybe they sweeten the pot? [Note: didn't realize until last night that Livingston is hurt - knee]

Is Kerr not planning to use Jordan Bell at all? How can he develop without any playing time? I feel bad for the guy.

I was thinking the same thing with KD, he's not taking any pull ups from 25 out like we love to see. Klay isnt getting many catch and shoot 3's. Most of them are off the dribble which is cool for him to develop, but they should be running plays to get that catch and shoot 3 to start raining. Is Looney's ceiling higher than Dray's? Blasphemy?

And pretty much all the games I've been watching including that Rockets/LA game the calls have been awful. Not sure what the answer is. Maybe Dray was right and they should get a whole new batch;)

athleticalchemy

Nah his mentality limits him. But right now he might be a better option down the stretch of games. tho I know that's not really gonna happen unless Kerr wants smoke.

@Alch hearing you call that "Beared Bash" really made me feel like they should replace Bob Fitzgerald with you. I love Fitz but you'd kill these games if you called them lmfao.

These "freedom of motion" calls have been beyond a pain in the ass to watch, especially because they seem to benefit everybody except Steph, the man who needs them the most. Dude gets mauled on every off-ball action. I wouldn't mind seeing the league get a bit more physical. Nobody wants to watch Free Throw Simulator 2018.

I have no problem with this loss. The refs were absolute trash. Marc Davis and that ref crew is one of the worst in the NBA. But just gotta keep it in perspective. All those free throws, all our bad shooting, our poor conditioning, all out turnovers, and we still nearly won the game on the road in Denver. That's a very good sign. The biggest issue right now is just getting back to playing our brand of bball. We need to play with more pace and get more fast break points. We need more ball movement. I guarantee you our passing totals are nowhere close to where they should be. We need to get back to what we do best.

athleticalchemy

Haha appreciate that! To be fair Live is a whole other beast. Bobs corny af. But he big moment calls are always solid.

athleticalchemy

Exactly right the movement less and the pace slower. It’s like every body wants to feel the ball instead of touch it... if that makes sense.

Here's a fun new stat: Warriors are averaging a differential -16 FTA per game, ranked 30th in the NBA. The 1st and 3rd place are Utah Jazz and Denver, who played the Warriors this weekend.

Damn Klay currently 1/5, 0/3 from 3-pointers against the Suns. Let us all pray for him. Spoke too soon. He is killing from midrange at least.

Man these turnovers are continuing to be the death of me. I absolutely cannot stand how many stupid and careless turnovers they make every game. 18 last night????? Cmon man. And losing by 2 points is all the difference. If they just have 3 less turnovers, thats 6 points, potentially 9 and an easy W. Sigh. Im sick of it. I understand the fast and free-flow style play will make more turnovers, but the rate and carelessness at which they are committing them is driving me crazy. That aside, what do you think about Curry passing up a contested layup to put the (kinda) rookie on the spot? I know it would have been a heavy contest, and Curry couldnt have seen the dude coming in for a chasedown block, but like.....youre the $200 million dollar man. They pay YOU to make those shots and seal the game. Dont be Lebron and pass it up. Even if he misses, the bounce couldve given time for an easy tap in from Jones, and no block to worry about. Im not upset with the decision.....its just like. I really feel like he shouldve gone up himself. Cant blame Jones at all. He needed to go fast and it was a good block. Annoying loss though.

athleticalchemy

I thought it was the right play considering he knew they weren’t going to blow the whistle if he looked to finish.
