Not sure why my recording has a slight tilt to the right, ESPN does some weird aspect ratio shit during their telecasts. I will fix it moving forward.

Yeah that game was really exciting. I don't know if I got that excited over a regular season game for the entirety of last year.. let alone a game 2 of the season. Also those Jazz players, as much as they were trying to draw the fouls, the way they were congratulating Jarebko, saying stuff like "I'm happy for you man," was really nice to see. At the end of the day, they were all teammates who wish each other well. I have to say though.. the reactions of the Jazz fans at the very end was priceless. The momentary feeling that you've won the game... only to go into complete deflation when it got tipped in.. by the player you did not resign. :) That was great.

Anytime we giving a multitude of 3s kd is always the culprit. Let's see what he does in Denver cause them boys can shoot

Anonymous

Ironically, I remember Draymond going through this entire phase back when we faced Utah in the playoffs, I think it was game 3? Just maybe its the entire arena and jazz players that bothers Draymond.

Anonymous

That last possession Steph missed the layup because Gobert pushed him from behind. Even Doris Burke called Gobert out. Steph probably should have gotten at least 8 more freethrows this game. Jonas had an amazing game, glad he's part of the roster. I don't know how Draymond's shot gets worse every single game. You're right about KD being fatigued although considering he doesn't have to play as much defense as Klay/ Steph and moves a LOT less off ball, he really should be fine with the extra minutes. We almost got J-Ingled this game... Utah is a big threat with their 3-pt shooting and flop game.

Playoff like basketball Great breakdown as always excited to see what this Jazz squad looks like again the Rockets and Pelicans I think as I spoke about last year, a trade for Dray should be considered, he's got a lot more value now with 2 years on the contract and our depth is suspect especially against that Celtics bench. I said the same thing to my Pops you said at the beginning of the game "Does it look like Dray even shot the fucking ball over the off season?"

athleticalchemy

It would damage the locker room too much I think if they moved him right now. But yeah I just don't understand what else he has to work on but getting some arc on that shot!

Trading Draymond...it depends, he's considered an all star, yet could we really get an all star in return? I think teams understand the Dubs make Dray look better than he actually is.

athleticalchemy

Its just frustration talk we know he aint going anywhere unless its a contact dispute or big AD like move.

I know a majority of us were watching Mike Breen and Doris Burke commentating but I actually managed to watch the local broadcast with Fitz and Barnett. It’s amusing how many details you miss with certain broadcast. For example I didn’t realize Draymond got injured when he shoved Mitchell in that 3Q. Fitz and Barnett kept saying he tweaked his ankle or something which makes sense cuz Dray didn’t come back for a while as he went into the locker room. With that being said, at the end of the season, how banged up will Dray be to the point it’ll start affecting the team? I think it’s time for him to take a break when Boogie comes back

athleticalchemy

Didn’t notice. He already had a hitch in his get along from the knee. The body is a chain, these will add up to something worse if they don’t shut him down.

I'm just glad to see a healthy steph. The last time we seen steph this good so far despite his game 2 performance was the last time we faced the celtics when he went against kyrie and had 40 something points.

Anonymous

Agree with you 100% on Draymond's attitude with the refs. He's so smart in other ways, it's hard to believe he can't do the right thing. And that Dray 3 in the 4th. Ho-lee-shit. That Jerebko tip in.. man, that was so sweet. I'm worried we might not see such an emotional game for months!

athleticalchemy

I think we will, I mean obviously that might be game of the year. But the West is so deep there should be less nights off should they choose to go hard.

I saw couple people saying on twitter since Kerr isn't gonna give Bell minutes maybe he gets traded for a wing. Thoughts? Admittedly I'm not fond of the idea.

Some dogs bark a lot, it's instinct, Draymond is like one of those territorial dogs that bark, you can't change it. When Draymond is barking at the refs in the heat of the moment I played, I understand, but barking at the refs on a quarter change, time out, after the game is completely counterproductive. When you talk to a ref at quarter/half, timeout, or after the game, you have to completely change demeanor because it demonstrates to the ref that the barking during the heat of action is not personal it's a result of competitive drive. Bark at any break it tells the ref, you suck, it's personal. Steve should not allow it. My 2 cents.

Draymond is a lot smarter than you realize. He knows exactly what he's doing. Everything he did worked last night. The refs called a fair game in the 2nd half while in the 1st half Utah had a parade to the FT line. Draymond gave the team energy and a spark in the 2nd half and allowed them to play great defense. Draymond never got ejected and never got that 2nd technical bc he knew the refs wouldn't call it. They didn't want to eject him and face that scrutiny and negative attention after the game. Draymond made that read on the refs. He thinks the game on another level than anyone else in the league.

The things #30 allows us to get away with will always amaze me. Taking 19 threes this game and shooting 26% from 3 last game. But there’s a guy quietly shooting 55% from deep thus far lol. Also, taking a look at kyries struggles to get any rhythm playing point on a team with other capable scorers gives me that much more appreciation for the production Steph allows us to take for granted, at unprecedented efficiency as well.

One thing I don't see anyone talking about is just how bad Curry's defense was . Rubio was the point of attack and he was doing anything he wanted. Rubio was penetrating way too easily and this led to defensive breakdowns all over the place. When you look at Rubio's points and assists, he accounted for around 40 points of offense. Curry's effort needs to ramp up defensively

Anonymous

Ima say this now bc of the rockets fight yesterday with the Lakers. The people should want Rockets v Lakers and, not Lakers v Warriors in the playoffs. Its an inferior matchup and the Warriors v Jazz.

Excellent breakdown Alchemy. Very insightful.

Russ

Utah will be our team to beat in the West this year. Mitchell did next to nothing in this game, don't count on that again. OKC might be as good or better than Houston as well, the West just keeps churning out more talent. Alch, love the new look to the set! It looks much more big time.

athleticalchemy

I agree Utah is the biggest threat given health. Gobert and Exum both have a history. Let’s see how Russ looks coming off I believe a 4th knee surgery. Glad you like the set, definitely going for the pro look.

Anonymous

As good as Utah are, I still think the beards will be left standing in the west. Just like us I think once they get warm they will be a threat. Interesting observations on KD’s defense, but man without his points, we are blown out in that game! Klay is yet to go off this season although he’s as usual playing elite defense, watch out McNuggets, I’m calling 34 from Klay.

athleticalchemy

I would tend to agree, but at what point does Bron slow down? we have seen this early form him before. But dang he looks slow right now.

athleticalchemy

I kinda gave him a pass because I think guys still don't believe Rubio can make shots. The league hasn't adjusted to that. But yeah he was getting caught on bad angles a lot.

athleticalchemy

I can’t imagine Kerr would hold on to that. They all want him to succeed and become a piece here. I’m suggesting he could still not be putting in the work or effort they except.

In terms of matchups, the Jazz don't match well for Bell. Bell definitely can't guard Gobert, and Bell can't guard Jae Crowder on the three point line. There will be plenty of games and minutes for Bell, just not against OKC and Utah Jazz. As you say Alchemy, styles make fights, and that isn't Bell's style, so he didn't get to fight.

I’m so mad that I finally joined your Patreon after more than 2 seasons telling myself I’ll do it😩 great job👏🏾👏🏾

How are your analytics doing since switching formats and only dropping warriors breakdowns on here? Have you seen a boost in patrons and non dub fans on the YouTube? I think it’s a smart move

athleticalchemy

Yeah Im happy with how it’s going. Getting a nice boost in patrons. YouTube will take some time, but I’m confident it will take off. Most of all I feel refreshed getting to cover what ever I want around the league. doing one Warrior video per game I can really enjoy the patron breakdown and take my time with it.

Sweet vid, Alch. Appreciate all your time, man! I really don't think Jordan Bell is in the doghouse though. As I said, I think it's all about matchups and I think Kerr wisely anticipated that the youngster would get in foul trouble, at least in Utah, without being able to have that much of an impact. Watch for him to take a lot of minutes against teams that are less apt to draw fouls, less veteran, and just less threatening. Just my opinion, of course. I could be one hundred percent wrong... but I hope not, because Bell is a keeper.

athleticalchemy

I’m with you.. I think it’s pretty hard to get in Kerr’s doghouse. Or at least stay there.

Nathan Glanzer

Was that technically a kicked ball? Curry didn't really put his foot out at all, Rubio just threw it at his foot. I thought kicked ball had to be "intentional". And did you see Mitchell push off Crawfords help when he tried to help him up towards the end? Jazz are a ball club to watch. They got the right attitude. Guy at the end telling Jerebko "Happy for you man". That's how you play ball.

athleticalchemy

Its a very subjective call. Your right it technically should be intentional but we know intent is hard to prove. The unwritten rule is if it results in a change of possession they call it. Missed the Crawford Mitchell thing..you have a great eye for detail man!
