What a game to watch. I cannot believe the Rockets went so cold from 3. If that doesn't happen I don't think we pull this off. Basketball God's in the Warriors favor again. Warriors in 5. Let's go!

Going back to the “No one does weirder things while shooting the ball than Klay”, I slowed this clip down to show the players I train. He knew Capella was coming so he caught the ball with his feet more narrow than he would ever shoot it just so he could adjust his right foot to get his signature wide stance for the shot. Dude is such an amazing interesting talent.

Definitely one of the most dramatic playoff series we've had.

creuset

That was a truly complete summary of the ups, down, strategy, ha-capella, unicorn sighting. Great usage of illustrative clips--like how Houston's defense was burning at an 11. If only we could have caught the Draymond sprain. Of all the ways we could have lost it, who would have guessed Klay in foul trouble early?

creuset

I hear a lot of commentary that the Rockets were just unlucky. But when you see the Gordon miss so many free throws in Game 6 AND 7 in the second half, you know he's tired.

i've noticed lebron employing the same sort of strategy in the boston series, where he's "relatively" passive early on and then goes hard in the fourth quarter to close out the game. do you think the dubs can tire lebron like they tired out the rockets?

athleticalchemy

Yes! his right toe tap when he doesn't have time or space to rhythm step is rare attribute. I wonder if he was taught that or stumbled into it.

7-44 from 3 point range for Houston was something I totally didn't expect. Another thing I really didn't expect was warriors getting favourable treatment from officials at Houston's home court. Otherwise it was a great 2nd half display from the warriors. Non warriors may never credit the heart and cool required not to let a game away from you in a hostile environment and may just point to 'well warriors have 4 All stars. Much credit has to go especially to steph for finding his stroke and for kd to keep the pressure on. A bit tired of warriors and cavs would have wanted Celtics but I think it's about damn time to close this chapter once and for all.

Finally some hate on Shaun 🤣.. so my take is simply capela got tired.. yah we know harden and eg are the easy ones to question on stamina.. but I noticed harden was asked about the pnr with capela in 1st half vs 2nd half he was just kinda like idk we couldn't get it.. my thot is the big man couldnt handle the pnr plus the constant boxing out he faced.. it takes some legs to get up over a guy pushing u away.. so he where kerr's unquestioned genius came into play.. he knew that did not only fouling capela get him out the game quicker but it kept the rockets from getting 2s when they were trying to come back.. if capela isn't tired and makes a couple FTs all of sudden they are running a harden/eg pnr with capela at the end..who is by far their best screener and roller.. so by taking him out it forced rockets to settle for 3s instead of an occasional lob to get it down to 4 or 5 pts.. but all the subtle things like they energy they waste running for long offensive rebounds to when harden is switched on a guy down low we always penetrate to make harden be the rotator on D which opens up the big man cutter or the big man lays off and sets pick on roll out.. i.e. the Jordan bell-curry 3s.. great game love hearing ur analysts and the fact u feel it during the game just like any fan.. dont change that! It's what makes ur take so real!

Shaun Livingston has been horrible since Steph got back. He was great before but now he is not aggressive and is not that good defensively. He had several communication breakdowns and we needed more shots from him in the first half in both these games. The Rockets were missing threes because of a combination of good defense and tired legs. They are not used to having to play this much defense and they don't know how to pace themselves. I agree the first half was not as bad as I thought it was, the Rockets were playing too hard and ran out of gas. That is why we come back. I know you say Harden does not have a great motor, but the rest of the team also does not have that great off a motor. I knew the game was over when Nick Young did those three closeouts.

With Harden, he folded. That team lives and dies by the 3 ball, and he went ice cold from distance for 3 games. The 30+ points doesn't reflect his lack of impact of the momentum of the game and series. He was a liability on defense throughout the whole series, and couldn't shoot from outside the perimeter as the key piece in a the D'Antoni system. If anybody asked, what the odds are for the Rockets to take this series if Harden goes under 30% from distance, they'd be 50-1 dogs. I can't find the numbers but I'm pretty sure he was under 25% percent, maybe 20? He can't handle the bright lights. And I'm pretty sure that was his best shot at title for his career.

I am just glad this series is over. Got tired of the constant iso, the foul call every other play and the lucky ass deep 3s going in.

For Warrior fans who might think there is something to the rockets not getting the calls I would invite you to take a look at some of the video montages showing the 3 point misses but don't watch the shot, watch Capella and Tucker pushing shoving and going over the back when they are boxed out.....the refs called it the same way....a let em play whistle......that advantaged the Warriors numerous on ball aggressive contests and it advantaged the Rocket aggressive contest of every rebound. I'll add, I am ecstatic that Gordon and others are so convinced that if Paul doesn't get hurt the Rockets for sure would have won....yea, keep thinking that way Rockets.

AA don't you think that against the Cavs some of the Warriors other bigs will come back into play with increased minutes even if the Dubs stay Looney/Bell as the primaries, I would think that the second unit minutes for West perhaps with Cook as well will pick up?

creuset

i thought it seem evenly officiated too. i am biased, but i think we were coached up pretty well on how to defend against harden and capela--and you could see all the players reinforcing that on the court. yeah, alchemy kept mentioning how capela was going over the back, and you could see a few warriors (like klay and draymond) complain about that too.

athleticalchemy

I think everyone is in play against their roster. I’m do a pod/vod tonight with my breakdown.

creuset

Alchemy, if the warriors had lost, would you have just done videos on the rockets/cavs? we are lucky the warriors pull through so we can listen to your insights for at least few more games!

athleticalchemy

Not going to lie, I wouldn’t have wanted to. But seeing it that this is my job now. I would have in order to remain professional and bring in a different audience. But the extra long breakdowns! Probably not...

athleticalchemy

Looking ahead to these finals the bigs should be able to play, combine that with Nick showing he can be out there maybe they will reduce his role.

athleticalchemy

I almost want to say the stumbles into it, but your right the haka-pela was all part of it. I will point out, everyone is saying they should have stopped settling for 3s, but what do you do when your are tired?! They didn’t have the juice to finish at the rim.

athleticalchemy

I’ll have a breakdown for you tomorrow. But I will say LeBron is going to have to make a choice.

Sticking it to Harden and CP3 with the dreaded "gene trait" and that's why they'll never be champions. Damn, that was cruel! AND so true. On another subject, I have been watching KD like a hawk, trying to read his body language and lips, I'm a pretty good lip reader, anyway I'm noticing that he and Steph don't have much interaction on the court, timeouts, etc. Not sure if maybe KD would rather play first fiddle instead of second??? Who knows. I'm just glad they won and will be playing a team that has way more issues than the Warriors could ever have. Also, check out Lebrons

You mentioned it yesterday in your pre-game live bro that it wouldn’t be a huge surprised if Kerr were to leave this season. It was interesting to see if Kerr was joking when he mentioned about thinking of “resigning” during the halftime interview when emphasizing how we were “unrecognizable” after our awful offensive 1st half. Good thing we won or I actually think Kerr had enough. Steph at one point said the team was at a breaking point during at timeout and could’ve “splintered” but they stuck through it. There’s no question the tension is increasing Game by Game after fingers are being pointed. Bottom line, win or lose in these Finals, I think we can expect some major changes. I low key think this will be Kerr’s last season if we win and he retires on a high-note. Interesting offseason up ahead but let’s enjoy the moment too!

athleticalchemy

It’s alway the guys with the freak physical attributes that have the most mental issues. It’s almost gods way of balancing the universe. LeBron reminds me of Aaron Rodgers body language a lot... he can completely dawg a teammate without saying a thing.

Anonymous

Alchemy, why do you think we did not see much (if at all) of the Curry/KD pick and roll during this Rockets series? Seemed like our hidden trick last season during the playoffs and I was expecting to see it in spurts during the Rockets series. Perhaps the Rockets switch everything defense?

Anonymous

Looking ahead. Everybody is allowed to think the Warriors will run through the Cavs but the Warriors. I know LeBron has something up his sleeve. That the Cavs Coaching staff is cooking up something. Not saying it's going to work, just cautiously optimistic about these finals. Dub nation up!

Nathan Glanzer

Rewatching this video because I had a hard fucking day and you and the Dubs make me happy. <3

Klay is definitely getting more and more confident in himself. Really started with China Klay, now he's puffing 3 point celebrations during the WCF. He just seems to have a different energy these days, and like you said, now we expect him to show up. I think he expects it too and has been validated by his performance in Game 6 and with some big shots in Game 7.

Nathan Glanzer

Everyone should rewatch and just watch the guy in the left baseline. Above the hoop. Chubby dude in a red tucked in shirt. Every play his reaction is great.

Hey Alchmey, thought you would appreciae this quote from KD "“Sometimes when you want it too much, you get in your own way,” Durant admitted. “I know all about that, especially after Games 4 and 5 for myself, personally, I felt that way. … The game is at a mental point in my career where I'm just trying to figure things out. The whole iso thing was a big thing around our team. We talked about it a lot. I was forcing, I was going too fast on my drives and on my moves. They had me just thinking too much out there.”" I know you mentioned a few videos ago about KD wanting it too much, and that affecting his game. You were spot on.

I missed the full game 6 and 7 so thanks 4 the highlights as always. But what I’m most sad about stupid not getting to hear Reggie and Cwebb cry during the 2nd halves. Especially Webb, he was actually pissing me off with just his blatant love for the rockets to the point of not being kind of objective. Hopefully I can find them online.

This was a damn tough series but it's one I think we will benefit greatly from going into the future. In life, it's the struggles and difficult times that ultimately make you a better and stronger person. Last year was great in that everything went smoothly and comfortably. But that was also the problem, it was a little too easy. If you don't face those challenges, you never really find out what your flaws are. I think Houston forced Curry and KD to figure out how to bring out the best of one another and maximize their potential. It's not as simple as: if one guy gets doubled, give it to the other guy. KD figured out that iso and matchup hunting isn't gonna always work. And we figured out that running offense with Curry and moving the ball would get us back to who we are and get KD the space and opportunities to do what he does best. We needed this adversity to make us better.

Have anyone noticed that all media host, ESPN, ABC all of them! are against the Warriors? It's crazy! I listen to all the commentators and everyone is commentating in favour of whoever Warriors are playing. Is it because they are the champs or the energy all around is just against warriors right now? With the rockets, I understand why because everyone wanted CP3 to get a chance for a ring. But god damn GS feel so hated right now that everything seems to be blown up to discredit the achievements.
