Yeah, McNulty said he didn't want to be on the boats back in episode 1 infront of Landsman, so he already got screwed way back there :) , Lester came too late with his wisdom, lol. One season down, four more to come, can't wait for it, each one ads some new layers and in the end... it's just briliant. Thanks for doing this and keep it on, I really enjoy watching it along with you once again.

So we finally got the comprehensive story about the Deirdre Kresson shooting when D'Angelo tells how he was used as a dupe by his uncle to distract Deirdre while Wee Bey snuck around to the kitchen window. D'Angelo claimed that shooting for himself earlier in the season, bragging about it to the boys in the pit. One of the most talked-about scenes in Season 1 is Bunk and McNutty investigating that scene and finding the bullet embedded in the refrigerator door and the casing outside the window, all while uttering no syllable other than "fuck." Writing the scene that way would have been impossible if we hadn't already heard D'Angelo's blow-by-blow account of how it happened, down to the "tap, tap, tap" on the window. In retrospect it makes all kinds of sense that D'Angelo was lying when he took credit for the murder, as we come to know his character as a guy who abhors the violence associated with The Game. He committed the murder he was being tried for in episode 1, but we understand that was done in a panicky moment, but the cold-blooded shooting of Deirdre is in contrast with what we know about D'Angelo even before the end of the season. Looking forward to season 2! I should mention that The Wire does change from season to season, but it is not an anthology series. Each season includes the same set of characters, but we are also introduced to a suite of new characters from different Baltimore institutions, filling in the cultural landscape of the city. Season 2 sometimes gets a bad rap (or at least it did when it was released) because returning viewers wanted to continue the focus on the Drug gangs of west B'more and were taken aback by the expansion of the focus of the season.

The seasons add new layers, but they aren’t entirely different storylines. No spoilers, but there is a common, continuing thread throughout.

Which they've already picked up on. Nothing changes.

Omar was not back in town at the end of the series finale. Once you edit for YouTube you'll notice that the building behind the guy that Omar robbed has "South Bronx" written on it.

Chris

At the end they noticed everything just carried on. During the montage with Jesse Winchester playing.

That's a cool detail! I've rewatched the series a few times and never picked that up. Thanks for sharing :)
