You can watch Keanau Reeves doing tactical drills on YouTube. Never noticed the dog at the end was scheduled for being put down. I've seen this movie like 30 times.

Breed of choice? English mastiff.

It's a bit crazy Mr Movies saw the first one then never saw the other two -- they actually get better as they go on. Also Keanu did a lot of training with Taran Tactical - there are a bunch of videos of it on the youtubes though at least one of them has a JW3 spoiler, or a casting spoiler anyway. I remember seeing this when it was new and nobody had really heard of it though I did miss the first one at the cinema, the explosion in hype that's been absolutely unrelenting since that has been a sight to see and completely deserved because of an attention to detail you don't normally see. Been hitting refresh on my local cinema's web site for tickets to 4 for a lil' while now, I have a feeling it's going to make a _lot_ of money, then 5 should be out reasonably close behind too - 4 was supposed to be released in 2021 so they've had plenty of time to work on it.

Kind of debatable about the getting better part. Future films started moving away from the pathos of this film about him dealing with the loss of his wife and dog to just more and more action set pieces. Some are pretty cool and creative but some drag on and on and gets repetitive. I've know multiple people who started liking the sequels less and less since it became mostly about the action. I'm hoping JW4 starts actually doing something more substantial with the world building and maybe a better emotional arc. Though very excited about Donnie Yen. One of the best action stars and I'm sure the film is going to come up with new creative action set pieces.

The sequels expanded the lore massively which is what people wanted to see not the wife thing which was dealt with by the first movie. That's my view and it seems to be the prevailing view too - people don't watch movies like this for a story they watch them to watch people getting killed in new and interesting ways, there's plenty of other movies out there for more serious plots.

Yes they expanded the lore but a lot of it is window dressing. I didn't say they only needed the wife thing in future films but some more emotional resonance. I mean watching a film for action and having more substantial plot isn't mutually exclusive. I'm hardly the only one that holds this view. And yeah, I said they did put in some new action set pieces but also a lot of the times the action dragged on and on and went on so long. You literally could memorize John Wick's moveset like a video game character because they really over utilized it in the films.

Every woman I know that's seen this movie..... Before the film..... "Meh, I don't really want to watch an action movie....." 15 minutes into the film..... "WHAT?!?!? THEY KILLED THE DOG?!?!? Oh I'm down, kill all those motherfuckers!!!"😏

Great movie but the sequels were utterly redundant, like watching someone play a cool video game but they never let you play
