This update is actually going to be covering quite a bit. Recently we have covered a lot of what the outline for SpunkStock as a whole will look like. I want to make sure you guys are aware of where we stand while we approach the last half of the game's development.

I'll start with the most simple section of the post... which is the poll results. Boba has claimed victory of the polls... by 1 vote... literally.

As always... catch more info on her when we start v0.7 production (next month).

Before I show off some Ruth sneak peaks, I want to talk on what the current picture for SpunkStock is aiming to look at. Not everything is set in stone by any means, but this is the direction we are currently looking.

Our current scope is as follows: There will be a total of 15 characters in the full game(This number does not include Faye from Future Fragments). These characters will be split into segments. There will be 11 "Openners", 3 "Co-Headliners", and 1 "Headliner".

Openners:

These are characters like you have seen. They introduce modifiers, and hold the format you guys are very familiar with. This category currently looks like this:
(All characters labeled "????" have been determined, but have not been announced.)

  • 1. Samga
  • 2.Pica
  • 3.Toto
  • 4.Yoni
  • 5.Cali
  • 6.Ruth
  • 7.Boba
  • 8.Ayra*
  • 9.Fufu*
  • 10. ????*
  • 11. ????*

* - order depends on Polls.

Co-Headliners:

Headliners can be thought of as "boss" characters. These characters will bring unique mechanics, and will likely have heavier questlines.

  • 12. ????*
  • 13. ????*
  • 14. ????*

* - order depends on Polls.

Headliner:

This will be considered the final boss of the game, and will have much more to them than any of the previous characters.

15. ????

What does all of this mean for production?:

All of the "Openners" are straight forward, and give us a good amount of side time to ensure I am able to keep the core of the game stable while releasing content. This is a really nice time for development, and for players. It's a consistent format where we can have 1 poll a month, and release 1 character a month. This is what we have been doing, and it has been working great..... however....

"Co-Headliners" and the "Headliner" will bring a lot more to the table per character, so monthly releases may not be the case when they hit the stage. If I can maintain 1 character per month while doing the Co-Headliners, it would be great, and I will do so. I just thought I would mention that the general platform we have been using MAY change when we hit this stage due to characters taking more time.

On top of all of this we will likely be putting extra time into polish and various vital things required for wrapping up the game as a whole.

When we hit the Co-Headliner, and Headliner stage we may cease Public builds as we prepare for our main launch. I am still looking to release Patreon builds for every character release, so do not worry (Co-headliner and Headliner included).

We will be looking to launch the full game on steam, and Itch.io.(Possible other avenues) Price is still undetermined, but my current goal will be to make sure all patrons who have pledged the price of the game, or more will get a copy of the game right out the gate.

As I said, a lot of this is not set in stone, but a general scope as development continues. I will do my best to keep as open as possible to you guys about the direction of the game, and I encourage anyone to voice opinions, things they might like, or concerns. I will post about changes if any come up.

This was a long winded update, and I am sure you are getting exhausted of reading a novel, so I will bring you guys to a couple Ruth sneak peaks. :3

Not very often I just drop a full sample of the Hscene, but this one has been turning out pretty sweet. (Play the song sample while you watch for ultimate immersion :P)

Ruth's song has the highest BPM to date (By quite a large margin). This mean's she is theoretically the most difficult character so far. To put it into perspective, her song right out of the gate is similar any of the other girls with 3-4 Tempo Ups(with the exception of Pica and Faye. It's similar to about 1-2 Tempo Ups on them). This is before Ruth receives any modifiers. >: ) That being said, I've found her song to be very fun to play to.

I don't have any info on what her modifiers will be at the moment. They still need to be implemented, but here's Ruth's little sprite.

Before I close this post out. I'll just say I am hoping to have the OST uploaded up to Cali by the end of the month. I just want to ensure I am in a good spot for the v0.6 release.

Alright guys... This was.. a massive post... probably the biggest one so far. For anyone who actually read everything, may god have mercy on your soul. Lol no, in all seriousness thank you sticking through everything. I'm always excited to being more content for you all to enjoy!!

Do you have any vague plans for projects after SpunkStock? Miraculously (for patreon Hgames) you have a sold content road map to completion that's realistically attainable within a reasonable timeframe. So it would be unfortunate if you didn't have any plans for future projects and fell back on perpetually developing the same game for years on end like many do. Even if that just means a sequel, it's better than only working on one project since you will be a better developer by the end of this, and could probably make a better base for a new game. Just some thoughts.

There are definitely several options after SpunkStock. I have actually been putting a lot of thought into it, but I won't draw any conclusions until the finish line is a little closer. One thing I am pretty certain of is that when SpunkStock is complete, I would like to move on from it. I have learned a lot, and will likely learn a lot more. I want to hone certain skills so I can utilize them much better in future projects. That being said, SpunkStock is still quite early in development, and most of my current attention is making sure I can make it into a fun game.
