State of the Game: Ramping Up (Patreon)
Content
Evening all, it's monthly State of the Game time, and I hope you've all been enjoying the first playable taste of Carnal Voyages! As I mentioned earlier, my current plan is to revive normal Patreon business at the start of October, and I've got a lot on my to-do list before then. I haven't had a lot of time for the project in recent days due to day job busyness, but fortunately I've got some time off coming up that should help me keep up, especially in doing the Patreon overhaul. Since I last posted, here's what I've been up to:
- Created a Galaxy map and a preliminary Harian system map, and functionality to travel from one system to another.
- Started working on the Watch Station services system, starting with the Personnel department that will allow you to fill out your crew following the conclusion of the introduction. I've added in the ability to change the gender preferences you set during the intro, and started on the functionality for transferring your current crew members in exchange for various credits.
- Set up an inventory screen, currently with functionality for showing your available crew requisition credits.
- Fixed an issue with the music not looping.
- Commissioned some writing assistance to help me put together crew assignment duties.
The crew requisition and management system is one thing I definitely want to have in before moving on, while other services like ship upgrades will have to wait a while longer. In addition to actually getting new crew members, this probably includes opening up the other rooms of the ship so you can assign stations, and perhaps adding in the system allowing you to get to know your crew a little more personally. I should be able to get in at least this much this month and probably a bit more, I'll let you know in the mid-month update how things are looking.
And as noted, this month I plan to overhaul the Patreon and the blog page to reflect the focus change to Carnal Voyages. I want to emphasize that while I'll be updating the reward tiers this month, changes will not take effect until the beginning of October. I also won't be changing any page URLs, as I don't want to break any of the many links I've spread around over the past few years.
That's all I have for tonight, so I'll see you again in a few weeks, and if you haven't tried it yet, make sure to check out the playable alpha release!
