Evening all, it's State of the Game time! And things are looking pretty good! I did spend a little time this month going back to Carnal Coup to patch up a few bug reports, but I did hit my goals of finishing up the main writing tasks for Carnal Voyages' initial release, including a 3-branch sex scene. As the first sex scene in the game there was a bit more to it than just writing, these kinds of scenes tend to have a lot more code mechanics going on to manage variables and such.  So, I had to expand my scene code a bit as I went as well as add in functionality to modify the displayed character portraits based on options selected (to, for example, remove clothing layers).

I also got the basics of the Codex window in, with functionality for displaying Trait information. There will be more info here in the future, but I'll save the rest for a later time. To add in a bit for art to show off tonight, allow me to also introduce the Seeders! My general goal for CV development is to work on two species at a time, but since I am only a single writer, effectively Seeders will be the second to appear in the game after the Harians. They will also be the first new, non-playable species you'll encounter in the game, although eventually it will be possible to recruit some for your crew. DTF uniforms for them are already in stock!

So, what are the remaining tasks before I put up the first release? They are, in order, the following:

  • Fill in a few placeholder texts with proper flavor text.
  • Generate name lists for each of the starting species.
  • Do one last Unity engine update before I lock things in for the rest of development (barring future issues).
  • Make some builds and do some thorough testing of the entire intro (so far most of my testing has been on individual components, one at a time).
  • Get a new itch.io page up, assuming no issues with getting a WebGL version working.

Leading to an initial release...sometime this month! It will pretty much get released once it's ready, so I'm not setting any specific date, but expect it to take the place of the usual mid-month status update. When the release comes it'll be accompanied by all of the details on the planned resurrection of normal Patreon releases and changes I'll be making to tiers and such, but I will say that there will be no changes to tiers for this month or September at the least.
