Inside a six-story office building in the Ningjiang Science and Technology Park in South Capital.

Sun Cheng looked at the newly renovated office building, which had undergone a transformation over the past two months, and a rare smile appeared on his face.

"Professor Chen, are you satisfied with this office space?"

Accompanying him on the tour of this office building was a middle-aged professor who appeared to be in his forties.

This middle-aged professor's name was Chen Yuan, a professor in the field of electronic engineering at the South China University of Technology. He had previously served as the deputy director of a research institute under the administration of South China University of Technology.

Although Professor Chen was only 42 years old this year, he had not published many papers in professional journals, both domestically and internationally.

In the course schedule at South China University of Technology, electronic engineering was an elective course under microelectronics, so Sun Cheng had some knowledge of Professor Chen.

His teaching style might not be described as humorous, but Professor Chen, who had been promoted to the position of professor at the age of 37, was a dedicated and meticulous teacher. From lesson preparation to teaching, and even taking attendance in elective courses, he was known as one of South China University of Technology's credit killers.

For senior researchers, the age range of 40 to 50 is considered the optimal stage for research.

Before the age of 40, one might make various mistakes due to lack of experience.

After the age of 50, as physical health declines significantly, a person's research abilities are inevitably affected.

Therefore, South China University of Technology had arranged for Professor Chen Yuan, who was in the best research age and had an impeccable work ethic, to join the Intelligent Mechanics Laboratory. It could be said that they were being very thoughtful in their choice.

According to Sun Cheng's investigation, Professor Chen Yuan had never been involved in any activities that would harm his reputation, whether in his professional or personal life.

That was enough for Sun Cheng.

In addition to Professor Chen Yuan, the research team transferred from South China University of Technology to the Intelligent Mechanics Laboratory included two associate professors and a research team of over sixty people, with five of them holding doctoral degrees and twenty-seven holding master's degrees.

Sun Cheng had great confidence in South China University of Technology's qualifications, and he believed that the first batch of researchers sent over would be outstanding.

Professor Chen Yuan nodded and said, "Mr. Sun, you've put a lot of effort into this transitional laboratory. It's completely satisfactory."

It was evident that he was not one to speak lightly, and this was his usual demeanor.

Sun Cheng replied, "Yes, the future research base of the Intelligent Mechanics Laboratory has already started construction. According to our requirements, it could be ready in as little as seven to eight months, or it might take up to a year before we can move the laboratory."

The two of them walked into the newly renovated office building, going from the first floor all the way up to the fourth floor. Professor Chen Yuan became increasingly satisfied as he looked around, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

"...Mr. Sun, you've put a lot of effort into this..."

This was the most frequent sentence he uttered during the visit, and it was genuinely heartfelt.

The laboratory that was about to be put into use had already received all the experimental equipment, which had been transported and installed in advance and had undergone initial testing.

Sun Cheng, who had ample resources, had spared no expense in equipping the Intelligent Mechanics Laboratory. From basic office computers and laptops to large commercial servers for experiments, as well as a five-axis CNC machine, a 28nm photolithography machine, and an etching machine, all of the laboratory equipment, although mostly domestically produced, was worth over five hundred million Xia Yuan.

Sun Cheng asked, "...so, Professor Chen, how are your preparations going?"

"Well, in terms of the terms and conditions, the school hasn't informed me yet before I came here. Please don't take offense, Mr. Sun. After all, many young people came with me, including some of my students and others who were transferred from other research groups at the school. I need to take responsibility for them!"

"Of course!"

Sun Cheng was well-prepared and gestured for his assistant, Lin Meng, who had been following nearby, to take out a document from his briefcase.

Unlike corporations or businesses, the internal staff structure of a laboratory was relatively simple, so the job titles and benefits were divided into five levels.

The document Sun Cheng brought was drafted after discussions with the group's finance and personnel departments and was sent to him. Sun Cheng had added some additional benefits to it.

Based on this document, the benefits for all the laboratories under the Future Mechanical Technology Corporation would be roughly the same.

Level 1: General laborers and security personnel, with a monthly salary of 3,000 to 5,000, with an additional monthly bonus of 500 to 1,000, depending on work attitude (food allowance, transportation allowance, housing allowance), and an annual bonus.

Level 2: Intern research assistants (recent university graduates) and regular clerical staff, with a monthly salary of 5,000 to 8,000, with an additional monthly bonus of 500 to 1,000, depending on work attitude (food allowance, transportation allowance, housing allowance), and an annual bonus.

Level 3: Regular research assistants (those with more than three years of relevant technical experience in technical positions or master's degree holders with certain research capabilities), with a monthly salary of 10,000 to 30,000, and additional bonuses for projects.

Level 4: Senior research assistants (those with more than five years of relevant technical experience in technical positions or doctoral degree holders with certain research capabilities), with a monthly salary ranging from 50,000 to 100,000, and additional bonuses for projects.

Level 5: Expert research assistants (those with over ten years of experience in designated technical positions, relevant research experience, or publications of 2 to 5 papers with an impact factor of USB 3.0 or higher in professional journals at home and abroad), with a minimum monthly salary of 200,000, and additional bonuses for projects.

Even in South Capital, where the cost of living was higher than in most cities in the country, these five levels of benefits were well above the average.

Professor Chen Yuan, who had experience working in research institutes, inquired about the standards for project bonuses and nodded in satisfaction after hearing the details.

"The benefits are indeed much better than what the school mentioned before. Thank you, Mr. Sun... As for the research team, I will inform them when I go back, and they should be able to report to the laboratory tomorrow."

Sun Cheng replied, "Then I'll leave it to you, Professor Xu. We have also selected over 270 recent graduates from South China University of Technology and several other schools with relevant majors. They will come to work in the laboratory as well, so I hope Professor Xu and your team can take good care of them."

Future Mechanical Technology Corporation provided generous benefits, and the cooperation with South China University of Technology was meant to nurture talent for their own benefit.

Chen Yuan was aware of this, but when he heard that Sun Cheng was sending so many people at once, he couldn't help but furrow his brow.

"Mr. Sun, does the laboratory really need to take in so many people right now?"

It wasn't surprising that he had doubts. Chen Yuan probably didn't know that Future Mechanical Technology Corporation had already obtained a Level-2 National Defense Military Production License.

For a newly established laboratory, the dozens of researchers he had brought from South China University of Technology were already sufficient to support a commercial laboratory.

"The laboratory has a lot of research topics, and at present, there are already five major research topics identified, including chips, motors, special ceramic materials, and more. The workload is quite heavy. Scholars like you, Professor Chen, are more than welcome. As for research funding and equipment, you don't need to worry. I promise that whatever you need, we will provide."

Sun Cheng didn't rush to explain about the Semi-Exoskeletal Mechanical Armor. Necessary confidentiality was still required until the Level-2 license was delivered.
