"Crack..."

"Crack..."

The sounds were the steel crushing pebbles and dry branches as a team of combat robots patrolled through the mountain forest following a pre-planned route.

As Sun Cheng happened to pass by, he couldn't help but stop in his tracks when he saw this patrol team of combat robots. He carefully examined the second-generation combat robots newly manufactured in the base.

Just like the industrial robots, the combat robots were designed and produced by Atlas's team upon his suggestion. However, the first generation of combat robots was merely a slight improvement over the first-generation industrial robots.

Though the production cost was low, the potential for upgrades was limited, and they weren't very suitable for combat in different terrains and regions. Their performance in past battles was also unsatisfactory.

In a battlefield, even a minor setback could lead to the failure of an entire war, not to mention obvious performance issues.

The best example was the first Gulf War in this world. Iraq, which boasted millions of troops and thousands of artillery, tanks, and warplanes, was much larger in both numbers and scale than the anti-Iraq coalition launched by the United States.

Yet, what was the result?

Iraq was utterly defeated. The reason behind this was the vast disparity in tactics and equipment between the two countries.

Of course, the main reason why the second-generation combat robots could be mass-produced in such a short time was due to Sun Cheng's lack of sufficient combat power.

A blue light shot from his eyes, scanning the data of the passing combat robots. In his heart, he already had a clear understanding.

The newly manufactured second-generation combat robots in the base had indeed seen significant improvements over the previous generation.

Just by appearance, this batch of robots, still maintaining a height of about 2.2 to 2.3 meters, looked much more slender than the slightly bulky first-generation models. However, the mechanical body's strength had already reached a completely different level.

Even though they used new alloys, which increased the mechanical body's strength while reducing the weight by nearly 30%, it also led to a nearly 50% increase in production cost.

But this increase was undoubtedly worth it.

The new second-generation combat robots now had their own organization. A combat team consisted of ten combat robots, with six being regular combat robots equipped with a weakened version of an energy gun, a set of arm-mounted large-caliber grenade launchers, and an alloy knife. Their maneuverability was sufficient to complete a 240-kilometer movement deployment within an hour without any vehicles and they possessed excellent close combat capabilities.

Although the shoulder cannons were removed, which reduced their damage output, an entirely reorganized robot combat team also included four heavy combat robots with firepower upgrades targeting the base version.

These four combat robots didn't differ much from the base version in terms of mechanical body, but they received specialized design upgrades for carrying capacity and firepower.

Each heavy combat robot was equipped with a 7.62x51mm Vulcan Cannon, a wrist-mounted small-caliber grenade launcher, and a large number of bullets in an alloy magazine on its back. Additionally, they each carried a miniature anti-tank and anti-aircraft missile on their arms and shoulders.

With such firepower and equipment, a fully equipped combat robot team was capable of suppressing American light infantry companies in a short amount of time, or even catching them off guard and inflicting heavy damage.

Naturally, after evaluating their combat capabilities, the base also believed that if used properly, one to two fully equipped teams could potentially inflict heavy damage on a grunt Decepticon warrior like Dust Up.

Therefore, since they were designed, the second base had completely stopped producing the first-generation combat robots and shifted to full-scale production of these new war machines.

The second-generation combat robots were equipped with anti-detection systems. The moment Sun Cheng scanned them, they immediately entered a state of alert.

They quickly identified Sun Cheng, who was nearby, but they didn't point their guns at him. Before being manufactured, all combat robots had his information recorded in the deepest part of their processing systems.

As a result, Sun Cheng had natural control over all the robots produced by the second base.

After dismissing the patrol team, Sun Cheng was about to go to the fourth newly commissioned nuclear reactor in the distance when suddenly, a robot walked straight toward him, kneeling before him and respectfully saying, "Master, if you have the time, please come to the laboratory! I have made some discoveries about the sphere."

He recognized this robot; it was one of the dozens of clones specially designed and manufactured by Teletraan, the supercomputer from Cybertron, to share a part of its processing power with him and assist in various experiments and research.

"Understood!"

After acknowledging, Sun Cheng quickly turned back.

He knew what Teletraan was studying because the sphere it mentioned was the one he had obtained not long ago from the underground pyramid in the Tiwanaku ruins.

Originally, Sun Cheng was unwilling to entrust this item to anyone for research. However, he didn't have the time and energy to delve into it. Moreover, considering that Teletraan was also a supercomputer from Cybertron, and the sphere was the initiator of the main control computer on a Cybertronian spaceship, he temporarily handed it over to Teletraan to see if it could discover or research anything.

Now, seeing Teletraan's reaction, it seemed that it had indeed found something.

Despite being concerned about Teletraan's discovery, this was his territory, and Sun Cheng remained calm. He took about ten minutes to return to the underground cavern where Teletraan's laboratory was located.

"Squeak!"

The alloy door opened, and he walked into the spacious laboratory made entirely of special alloys.

This was a laboratory with special isolation treatment. It had a huge space filled with various visible instruments and equipment. Dozens of robots identical to the one that called him were operating various instruments in the laboratory. They were all clones that Teletraan had created for itself.

In the center of the laboratory, there was a transparent glass canopy over three meters tall, under which, floating in mid-air, was a metal sphere that Sun Cheng was familiar with.

As he entered, the sphere inside the glass canopy was beginning to reveal some special patterns on its surface, illuminated by a green light emitted from a spray gun below.

Although Teletraan, which was working at the time, didn't speak on its own, a robot gently pressed a button next to an instrument.

The next moment, the previously transparent glass canopy appeared as if it had been engraved with patterns on the inside, displaying rows of small patterns that Sun Cheng couldn't understand but felt somewhat familiar.

"Ancient Cybertronian script!"
