Indeed, as Hephaestus said, it doesn't even take a few minutes to fully understand the performance of a Typhoon-class submarine.

As the engineers infiltrated one by one, the entire data of the submarine was quickly exposed before them.

Just four or five minutes later, engineers started returning to the rest room one by one and presented their transformation plans to Sun Cheng.

Clearly, Hephaestus' performance just now taught these engineers a lesson.

With a flicker of blue light in his eyes, Sun Cheng finally began examining the modification plans sent by the engineers.

The former pride of the Red Empire, the largest deep-sea monster ever created by humans—the Typhoon-class ballistic missile nuclear submarine—now appeared to the Decepticon engineers as nothing more than a child's toy.

The equipment is subpar, with a significant amount of space occupied by useless facilities, and the power system is outdated!

These are the three consensuses that have appeared in almost all the engineers' transformation plans!

Sun Cheng is also in agreement with this assessment!

Indeed, the equipment inside the Arkhangelsk, even when compared to Earth's industrial standards, cannot be considered advanced. Especially the electronic devices such as radar inside the submarine, constrained by the Soviet Union's poor electronics industry foundation, not only lag behind the United States but might even be inferior to the electronic devices used on China's domestically made submarines.

During the Soviet era, in order to cater to the submariners, a considerable portion of the internal cabin space of the Typhoon submarines was allocated for their well-being. Although there were some variations in the internal designs of each Typhoon-class vessel, they remained largely similar.

For instance, the Arkhangelsk has a library, a swimming pool, a steam room, a gymnasium, and two rest areas.

For the soldiers serving aboard submarines, who spend long periods submerged in the lightless depths of the sea, these facilities are indeed essential.

However, Sun Cheng and their kind are not human but mechanical beings. It is important to note that every inch of space inside a submarine is precious. Although the space in a nuclear submarine is larger than that of a conventional submarine, which has a displacement of only two to three thousand tons, resembling a sardine can, these original auxiliary facilities only occupy space without any real purpose, and therefore they must be dismantled.

As for the power system, Sun Cheng didn't understand much about it at first. After reading some materials, he came to realize that the Decepticon engineers were not satisfied with the nuclear reactor installed on the Typhoon. Some even proposed replacing the power system with supermagnetic fluid thrusters!

After going through all the renovation plans, over an hour had already passed.

Sun Cheng acknowledged that the engineers' transformation plans seemed quite feasible, although most of them involved significant overall changes. It was clear that implementing these improvement schemes would take more than just a day or two.

After taking some time to review the plans, he noticed Hephaestus waiting anxiously in front of him. It was then that he realized that he hadn't come across Hephaestus' plan in the previous set of renovation plans.

"Master, this is my transformation plan..."

Compared to the other engineers, Hephaestus clearly wanted to make a better impression, evident in the extra effort put into the plan's design.

Sun Cheng nodded slightly and began examining the transformation plan transmitted to Core. Soon enough, a smile finally appeared on his face.

"You've done a good job. Let's proceed with your transformation plan and start with the first stage of the modifications!"

"Yes, master. We'll get right on it!"

Receiving his approval, Hephaestus couldn't have asked for a better commendation. He immediately accepted the task with excitement and proudly directed the other engineers, who started bustling about.

In the lounge, Sun Cheng was soon left alone.

Hephaestus' transformation plan wasn't necessarily superior to those of the other engineers, but it aligned more closely with Sun Cheng's preferences. The reason being that he had divided the transformation plan into two stages.

The first stage involved reinforcing and modifying the existing equipment inside the submarine. This process wouldn't be too demanding for the engineers, except for the substantial task of modifying the current nuclear reactor, which required the involvement of at least five engineers and several days of continuous work to complete.

The second stage, strictly speaking, was the true major overhaul.

Hephaestus and his team will redesign a completely new set of sound-absorbing tiles. They will also make significant changes to the interior space by removing unnecessary areas and redesigning them. Additionally, they plan to replace the power system of the Arkhangelsk with a new one and replace the current OK-650 pressurized water nuclear reactors with two sets of supermagnetic fluid water jet propulsion. They will also use Cybertron Planet's energy cubes to replace the original diesel auxiliary power device.

The transformation task at hand is enormous and can be compared to rebuilding a submarine. After all, there are many aspects of the typhoon that are unsatisfactory. One major concern is its diving depth, which is currently limited to only 500 meters. This limitation is highly dissatisfying to him.

For mechanical beings, diving several kilometers into the deep sea is not a difficult task.

Undoubtedly, Hephaestus' plan is the most suitable for the current situation!

Sun Cheng's mission to infiltrate Severodvinsk and steal a typhoon submarine is not without risks. He is not afraid of being exposed since he intends to make a significant move to draw the attention of the strong Russian president and facilitate future dealings with Russia.

However, despite not fearing exposure, he doesn't have much time to waste in this mission.

For now, the engineers only need to complete the first phase of the Arkhangelsk's transformation, ensuring it can navigate the seas. The opportunity to acquire a deep-sea monster for free is rare, so Sun Cheng will undoubtedly seize this excellent opportunity. The second phase of transformation can be postponed for later.

Although the Arkhangelsk has not been officially decommissioned and has been docked at the Severodvinsk shipyard for some time, its twenty submarine-launched intercontinental missile launchers have been emptied, with all ballistic missiles taken away.

Nevertheless, the submarine remains intact, with all its equipment maintained in a wartime state, ready to be activated once a war breaks out.

However, most of the equipment installed on the Arkhangelsk has not been replaced since it entered service in the late 1980s. Consequently, not only does it appear outdated, but its performance is also significantly behind the times. All the equipment needs to be replaced.

Fortunately, the Severodvinsk shipyard has an abundant supply of materials, so the engineers should be able to complete the first phase of transformation within a week.

Furthermore, the nuclear reactor in the Arkhangelsk submarine has not been processed. Evidently, the Severodvinsk shipyard has not removed the nuclear fuel from the reactor before receiving the official decommissioning notice.

Hephaestus inspected the reactor and found that the nuclear fuel inside is sufficient. According to the engineers' estimation, this fuel can ensure that the Arkhangelsk remains submerged at the bottom of the sea for four to five years without interruption.

This undoubtedly saves them a significant amount of time!

As a result, in a corner of the Severodvinsk shipyard, the transformation of a Typhoon-class ballistic missile nuclear submarine begins vigorously.
