In fact, although the two of them deliberately lowered their voices, they were both protected in the middle of the team, so when Dr. Settler was the first to speak up, their conversation had already been heard by everyone.

So, as soon as Sun Cheng finished speaking, Major Dutch turned around and coldly looked at the two of them, his face filled with scrutiny. "Are you leaving?"

"Yes, if possible, I hope you can join us and help save the other survivors on the island!"

Dr. Settler truly lived up to her reputation as a tough woman. Despite Major Dutch's disapproving gaze, she fearlessly spoke her mind. Her gaze swept over Major Dutch and the others, filled with hope.

Major Dutch fell silent!

Avoiding her gaze and focusing on Sun Cheng, he carefully examined him for a while before asking, "Sun, are you sure you want to leave with her?"

"She has her husband on the island, and I have my friends."

Sun Cheng wasn't one for excessive words. Few people, except for a few politicians, were naturally inclined to lie. Furthermore, he understood the principle that less talk leads to fewer mistakes, so he simply replied with a concise answer.

Major Dutch fell silent once again. If it weren't for the sacrifices of Effie, Robbie, Bernard, and Breen, he would have surely agreed to help the people on the island.

But losing four comrades in succession had left a mark on the team. Now, everyone's eyes were on him. However, unlike Dr. Settler's hopeful gaze, the looks of the others were quite obvious—they didn't want him to unnecessarily accept this additional task because the island was too dangerous.

After a moment of silence, Major Dutch finally made a decision. He pulled out a P226 pistol from his right leg and took out two pistol magazines from his person. He handed them to Sun Cheng.

"I also need to be accountable to my people, so, I'm sorry..."

It was clear that he had politely declined Dr. Settler. It was impossible for him and his team to leave the research center to help them search for any survivors.

"Why... How can this be..."

Dr. Settler murmured with a covered mouth, evidently finding it hard to believe their unwillingness to help!

On the other hand, Sun Cheng, as he had anticipated, calmly accepted the pistol and magazines from Major Dutch. He smiled lightly and expressed his gratitude, "I understand. Thank you for your support along the way!"

After speaking, he felt the vengeance in his embrace move. Sun Cheng had a thought, turned back, slightly bowed to the others, and promptly led Dr. Settler towards the lower floor.

Leaving behind the opinions of the others, as they walked a little farther away, Sun Cheng couldn't wait to take out Vengeance from his embrace and looked at the LCD screen. As expected, he saw a set of traditional Chinese characters displayed: "Safeguard has completed the mission and evacuated. It has reached the garage through the ventilation duct. Should I allow it to come and join us?"

The mention of the garage caught Sun Cheng's attention, reminding him that there was such a place in the research center.

Upon careful consideration, with Vengeance protecting him, he had no fear of Onslaught, the hunter. However, the dinosaurs on the island posed a significant threat.

Unfortunately, the island's security system had been completely shut down. The carnivorous dinosaurs that were once confined in cages were likely now roaming freely. It would be

extremely dangerous to navigate the island on foot. If they could acquire a vehicle, it would greatly improve their chances.

Having this idea, Sun Cheng immediately issued an order through Vengeance, instructing Safeguard to go to the garage, find a car, and wait there.

He then took Dr. Settler downstairs and headed towards the security office on the first floor.

"Sun, who are those people exactly? Are they the criminal gang we encountered on the island that poaches dinosaurs?"

Dr. Settler incessantly stuck to him and kept asking questions.

"I don't know. They seem to be military personnel, but I'm not sure which country they're from," Sun Cheng replied while carefully avoiding some traps set on the road. "I also encountered them on my way to the research center. It is said that a plane crashed in the waters near Nublar Island, and they have come to the island for search and rescue!"

When these words were spoken, both Sun Cheng and Dr. Settler had some doubts.

"Search and rescue? Do you need weapons for a search and rescue mission?"

Well, just looking at the weapons carried by Colonel Daqi and his team, it would be enough for a full-on combat.

Most likely, it was because the Spectre Hunter in the research center had set their sights on Colonel Daqi and his team. In any case, Sun Cheng and Dr. Settler hurried to the security office, and Sun Cheng did not receive any further warnings of vengeance until they arrived.

"We're here!"

During their previous patrol with the team, Sun Cheng had noted the location of the security office. Seeing the door wide open, he cautiously took out his weapon and walked to the entrance, remaining on high alert.

After scanning the office for a while, especially focusing on several potential hiding spots, Sun Cheng signaled with his eyes to Dr. Settler, who was anxiously locked behind him, "It's safe!"

The security office was in complete disarray, with evident bloodstains on the walls and floor. It was clear that a battle had taken place here not long ago.

"Oh my god!"

Dr. Settler covered her mouth and nose, overwhelmed by the stench of blood in the office. The bullet holes and casings on the walls and floor were an undeniable indication of the intense and brutal battle that had occurred.

"Don't look anymore, let's find weapons quickly..."

The security office was not particularly large; its main purpose was to store weapons, ammunition, and communication devices. There were four side-by-side double-door alloy cabinets and three desks in the office.

This was Sun Cheng's second time coming here. They had previously visited with Colonel Daqi and the others, but they didn't stay for long. Therefore, there should be many things left behind.

As expected, when he approached one of the open alloy cabinets, Sun Cheng immediately noticed neatly arranged boxes of bullets beneath it. He bent down, took out a box, and examined it. The English markings on the box were very clear—it was the NATO standard 5.56 mm rifle ammunition, indicating that the original weapon stored here was likely an M16.

"Sun, I found these..."

Dr. Settler walked over to one of the desks and opened a drawer. She was fortunate enough to find a Colt M1911. A smile finally emerged on her face, demonstrating how weapons can indeed instill a sense of security in people.

Sun Cheng nodded, briefly glanced at it, and then looked at the other alloy cabinets. He had personally witnessed the battle between Colonel Daqi and the Velociraptor; even the beasts' tough scales could only withstand minor injuries from the M4A1 bullets. Just to be prepared, he hoped to find some heavy weaponry.

In another open alloy cabinet beside them, the top was also empty, which left him somewhat disappointed. However, the lower part of the cabinet contained a few grenades and C4 bombs.

C4 was one thing, but Sun Cheng didn't really know how to use it. However, he was familiar with grenades and quickly took out all of them. With these, he wouldn't be afraid even if he encountered a velociraptor.

But grenades alone wouldn't be enough!

The third alloy cabinet was locked, and he didn't know what was inside. Fortunately, the fourth cabinet was also locked, but the key was pinned to it. Sun Cheng turned the key and opened it, revealing several bulletproof vests, tactical vests, military backpacks, and waist pouches.

He quickly took out two bulletproof vests, handing one to Dr. Settler. He untied the curtain and removed the package from his back, putting on one of the vests. He also put on a tactical vest on top and strapped a waist pouch around his waist, placing the grenades inside.

"What's this?" Dr. Settler asked with difficulty as she put on the bulletproof vest, observing Sun Cheng stuffing his package into a military backpack.

"Some of my personal belongings..." He didn't want to dwell on the topic and changed the subject. "Help me find the key to this cabinet. There should be weapons inside!"

Perhaps because he had agreed to accompany her in the rescue mission, Dr. Settler didn't ask further questions. She nodded and began searching the office.

After searching for a while, they couldn't find the key. Sun Cheng sighed and looked at the pistols in their hands. He clenched his teeth and said, "Step back..."

Once she had taken a few steps back, he raised his gun and aimed at the lock on the alloy cabinet, firing three shots. Finally, the cabinet opened!

The sound of the gunshots echoed through the silent research center, and Sun Cheng was aware that it was conspicuous. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he quickly opened the damaged alloy cabinet. As he saw the weapons inside, his eyes lit up.

"It was worth taking the risk!"

The cabinet was filled with guns and weapons. On the top row, there were four M16 rifles and two shotguns, along with some unfamiliar weapons. The lower half of the cabinet contained ammunition, while several shelves displayed military blades and machetes.

Sun Cheng swiftly grabbed two M16 rifles, giving one to Dr. Settler. He hung the other around his neck and secured a shiny machete at his waist. He also grabbed a couple of spare magazines and placed them in his pockets. Still feeling uneasy, he didn't hesitate to take two more boxes of ammunition and stored them in the military backpack.

"All right, let's go!"

After arming themselves, Sun Cheng glanced out the window and noticed that the rain had become sparse and would soon stop. He picked up two flashlights from the cabinet, handing one to Dr. Settler while holding onto the other. Just as he was about to say something to reassure her, they suddenly heard an eerie sound coming from the hallway outside the office.

Sun Cheng's expression changed instantly. He instinctively ran towards the office door and forcefully closed it.

Before he could lock the door, he suddenly felt a heavy impact on the iron door behind him, almost throwing him out.

"Hiss..."

Accompanied by a deep, piercing beast roar, a menacing beast claw, smeared with a faint greenish, foul-smelling liquid, forcefully squeezed into the office through the gap in the door.
