We are in the month of December and we are going be doing some Christmas music for our Baritone ukuleles. Today the song is O, Christmas Tree and we are going to break down the melody at first. Once we go through the melody we are going to then break down the chord melody part of the ukulele. That way you can see how to take the melody and harmonize it. It is very beneficial to see the transition from melody to chord melody that way if you have melody you can play you will be able to harmonize the song and if you want you can even re-harmonize the song making a major song into a minor one for example. In this particular song for example the melody is the same in the first four bars as it is in the second four bars. I am going to harmonize the second 4 differently so you can see how to make it more complex are approach it form a different angle. There are many ways to to transform a melody to a chord melody.

The song O, Christmas Tree is known as O Tannenbaum in German, it is an old German Christmas carol that has been translated into English. In German the lyrics are

  • O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
  • Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
  • Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
  • Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
  • O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
  • Wie treu sind deine Blätter!

Also fun it was the same melody used to write an old song that called "Florida, my Florida" and was used as a state song.

Will Improve

  • Playing melody in C
  • How to harmonize a melody
  • Seeing the same melody played in different spots on the fretboard

The song O, Christmas Tree is known as O Tannenbaum in German, it is an old German Christmas carol that has been translated into English. In German the lyrics are O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Wie treu[N 1] sind deine Blätter! Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit, Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit. O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Wie treu sind deine Blätter! Also fun it was the same melody used to write an old song that called "Florida, my Florida" and was used as a state song. The song is easy to play and if you are a baritone ukulele player that is new to this style of playing this is a great introduction to this style of ukulele. The trickiest part might be the 3/4 rhythm, just take it slow and try and figure it out measure by measure. #Ukulele #BaritoneUkulele #UkuleleTutorial Tabs - https://www.patreon.com/TenThumbsPro Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/tenthumbsproductions 1-1 Lessons - Tenthumbsproductions@gmail.com.
