Sorry for the late upload, there was an audio issue so I had to completely re-shoot the video today. Good news is whenever that happens I am a little better at play the song haha. Enjoy!

Today we are going to learn how to play a classic from the 80s, Roxanne. I remember when I was very little and I would sleep over at a friends house my dad would encourage me to go without a night light and he would always ask me "Remember what you'll say if that ask if you need a night light? ROOOOOOOOXANE, you don't need to turn on that night light!" and he would laugh and laugh and laugh, 30 years later here we are teaching how to play it hahaha. The song has 7 chords and some them are kind of tricky even if the aren't barre chords they are chords that maybe you have never seen like an Fsus4 , so I will teach it two different ways, how to play the song with open cowboy chords and then I will show you the progressions with the barre chords. The barre chords give it a staccato vibe so you are able to make it sound just a little bit more like the electric guitar of Andy Summers, who fun fact was born on New Years day.   The song has an intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, and one little bridge we will teach you how to play each section strum from strum and then after all that at the end I will show you how to play the melody of each section as well, that way you can play it as a duet with friends, you can use the melody to help you learn how to sing it or you can arrange your own chord melody.

Will Improve

  • Seeing chords in multiple spots on the fretboard
  • Changing on the &
  • Staccato chord stabs
  • Quick chord changes
  • Changing chords before the 1st beat
  • Playing melody in G minor
