I recently taught this song on the guitar and I forgot just how much I enjoyed it until I picked it up and played through it, the melody is wonderful. So right after I finished the guitar tutorials I started working the melody out and by the end of afternoon I already had a very cool instrumental version going. Today we are going to learn how to play "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" on the Ukulele, but not just in any style, the chord melody style! That means you'll be playing the chords and the melody, at the same time! This is also referred to as fingerstyle, or sometimes solo ukulele. The song is fairly straight forward, it has a legendary intro riff that we will break down and then after that it has an 8 measure verse, 4 measure pre-chorus and followed by an 8 measure chorus and then back to the intro riff. We will break down each piece, measure by measure with 4 of them on the screen at a time and after we break down each note, strum, everything piece by piece so you'll be able to play this song in no time.
