Today for our Baritone lesson we are going to explore one of the most endearing songs from The Beatles  every written, "Yesterday." This song is great for fingerstyle ukulele as has a lovely moving melody that is very recognizable, making it easier to play. and practice, but it also has a lot of moving and interesting chords, so that way as you are playing the variety in the harmony makes it more fun to play and more fun for your listener to enjoy as well.

Most of Yesterday is just Paul singing and playing guitar, later in the arrangement a string quartet enters and this is actually one of the first times the Beatles used session musicians for one of their songs. The touch of the strings is lovely and I really enjoyed it when the Beatles brought in other musicians to add dimensions to their songs that they were not able to do alone. The song was also recorded using chords in the key of G but Paul tuned his guitar down an entire step, so it is really in the key of F. We taught the song in the key of G and did not tune down, but if you want to match the recording and the style of Paul then you should tune your baritone down a full step to C F A D.

Will Improve
