Today we are going to learn how to play "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas in the Fingerstyle or Chord Melody style of ukulele play. The song is a classic melody that is beautiful, but it also is a farily basic melody that moves laterally throughout the A minor scale. A lot of the charm of this song was the movement on the harmony. That is evident from the very beginning with the lovely introductions moving around the C major and A minor chords, but with the C moving around the root note and the A minor moving suspending the 3rd interval to both a 2nd and a 4th.   The song has slightly different changes in each of the choruses so we will go through the entire song, each chorus one by one and then do a little bit of a play-along to show you how the pieces come together but you will also have all the tabs in the Patreon post, too.

Will improve

  • Chromatic chord changes
  • A strong sense of harmony
  • How to turn a basic melody into a beautiful song
  • Fingerpicking Chord melody/Fingerstyle Ukulele
