Today we are going to learn how to play connect the all five pentatonic scale shapes on the Ukulele. There are some links at the bottom of the description that will help you even more for this lesson. When learning to solo people start by learning all 5 shapes and now you know all the pentatonic shapes across the fretboard, but how do you put them into play? It starts with learning how to connect them. There are a lot of different ways to do this and we will look at 5 different examples, slides, call and response, double stops, learning the pentatonic across one string and the play and replace technique. We will look at all of them one by one with examples so you can take the time to apply these ideas to your own playing so you can learn to solo across the entire fretboard, and if you know how to transpose and find your scales, you can so in any key!

Will improve

  • Playing all over the fretboard
  • Slides
  • Finger position
  • Rhythm
  • Triplets
  • Seeing the scales laterally across 1 string
  • Call and response
  • Resolution
