So sorry that I had to come in so late on the live session, but I'm so glad that I was able to be there for at least part of the festivities! As much as I adore your song lessons and can't wait for more, I am loving all of these great "contextual" lessons, too. I don't enjoy improv or composition, but tips for making songs my own are right up my alley! A really great cover can become its own thing -- like the example you used of Chris Cornell's Billie Jean -- and the best covers add unique flavors that can outlast the original. I'm also thinking of something like Gary Jules's cover of Mad World, which is ALWAYS the one that uke players want to take on, rather than the Tears for Fears original (much faster and more ornate than the stripped-down, slowed-down version we now know and love). Great, great stuff here, man!
